Description
La Bigorre is a small complex of four holiday cottages with a wonderful heated pool in a rural hamlet, just 30 minutes from the beaches of Royan, St Georges de Didonne and La Palmyre in the beautiful Charente Maritime. We specialise in catering for families and have a superb range of equipment, toys and games for toddlers to teens. We aim to make holidays easier for parents so they can relax and be at home at La Bigorre. That's why so many of our visitors return again and again!Surrounded by vines, sunflowers and corn, there’s little traffic here, making it a lovely peaceful and safe place to be. Children are well catered for with our fully enclosed heated pool, garden swings, table tennis, pool table, table football, boules, books and DVD library.
Alternatively, you may prefer to walk or cycle along the lanes amongst the vineyards and sunflower fields. We have plenty of bicycles (adult and child size) and trailers all available to borrow at no extra charge.
This lovely old farmhouse comprises a large fully equipped kitchen/dining room with a table comfortably seating eight and a range cooker. The kitchen leads into a spacious lounge with three sofas, a cosy wood burning stove for cooler spring and autumn evenings and door opening directly into the enclosed games barn.
Upstairs, the Farmhouse has original wooden beams and sleeps up to eight in three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, there is a second double room and the children’s bedroom consists of two single beds and one set of bunk beds. All bed linen and towels are provided.
All the bedrooms and living rooms overlook our lovely mature gardens, along with a dedicated terrace area with garden table and chairs, parasol and barbecue.
An interconnecting door from the kitchen can be unlocked to join with Well Cottage next door for larger groups, if desired. Please ask for more details on our other properties.
Like all of our cottages, the Farmhouse is well furnished and fully equipped with flat screen TV with French and UK free sat television and DVD player as well as lots of other items to make your stay more comfortable.
Please note there is a a minimum seven night stay in July & August, flexible arrival and departure days.

It’s such a relaxing tranquil escape, super peaceful on site with plenty to keep the kids happy - so many toys, games and activities - and the pool was a real treat for the whole family. The cottage was perfect, cosy and had everything we needed, and the terrace was incredible - amazing views! There’s everything you need nearby, lots to do, and the owners were super helpful and on hand to assist with anything we needed - and their recommendations for places to go, restaurants and local shops were excellent. A huge thank you for a perfect family break!

Les gîtes sont très bien équipés et tout est fait pour passer un agréable séjour: la piscine, les multiples jeux pour les enfants, des parasols à disposition pour aller à la plage, du calme… Nous recommandons cette location à 100%! The highlight was definitely the pool, which kept our 8-year old entertained for hours. Which has to be a bonus on holiday! Thanks Paula and Rob for a lovely time. Best wishes the Lamberts.
Successful Family Gathering

From indoor and outdoor toys to books, DVDs and all the childcare equipment, you can put your suitcases straight down on site. Paula and Rob are incredibly friendly and helpful.
