We were very happy with our holiday in La Retraite towards the end of a very hot spell of weather. It was wall to wall sun until our last two days, wonderful. The gite is lovely, set in a nice garden with a heated swimming pool. The gite is well equipped with everything needed to make our holiday comfortable. The location is wonderful and quiet just great for relaxation. Further afield there are good restaurants at Hauteforte, Thivier and Corgnac. The chateau at Hauteforte is well worth a visit more than once for the garden, the castle itself, the views and the restaurant for lunch. One of our favourite French locations.
Photos don't do this rural idyll justice - beautiful, unspoilt views from the delightful garden.. where we were able to watch the wildlife and stunning sunsets. We had great fun too playing croquet, ping-pong and table football. Steve and Sally are very kind and generous hosts, who are on hand next door if you need anything. The gite was so well equipped, cosy and comfortable, and just perfect for our family of three. We relished our time here, mainly relaxing in such peaceful surroundings, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
On Friday we saw the end of a wonderful weeks holiday at www.laretraite.info near Thiviers in France and what an amazing stay it was. The Gite is perfect and the views are just beautiful - even in the rain (not a long period of rain towards the end and broke up the 30c+ temps we had the majority of the hols) it was seriously chilled and relaxing and you could do as little or as much as you wanted. There are two great sized double bedrooms on the ground floor (couple of steps leading up to the main one) and a twin bedroom with wooden stairs leading up in to it - great for kids. The Gite was a great size and fully equipped. The heated pool and garden was fantastic, with 5 adult bikes available if you choose as well as table tennis, large garden area and bbq. A car is recommended. The owners, Steve and Sally were on hand with a lovely bottle of wine on arrival and fresh eggs from their hens - they were available for any questions via WhatsApp or recommendations if required. I would not hesitate to recommend.
