Fell in love with the local towns and team activities such as padel in the nearby town. Can’t thank the hosts enough for always being on hand for questions and wine / dining recommendations. Such a special place we hope to visit again for many summers to come!
A fantastic holiday home
By Claire on 26-Jul-2025Le Marais is a gem of a find set amongst glorious French countryside based in the Dordogne region. This home is full of charm and offers so much space, and accommodates ample room for families wishing to share a memorable holiday experience. The swimming pool is spectacular offering areas where the youngsters can play, but providing the grownups space to relax and soak up the beautiful French countryside. The village of St Meard de Gurcon has two delightful bakeries along with a recent addition of two Padel Tennis Courts. So close by and so simple to book a court. Nearby towns offer great day and night markets. A magical experience not to be missed. I simply loved staying here and look forward to returning again.

Lots to do in the local area but also the opportunity to chill out in the pool, enjoy the views over fields and share a bottle of wine whilst watching some incredible sunsets. We would love to visit again.
Memorable sunsets, rustic charm with all the modern comforts

The property is ideal for multi-generational stays — there was plenty of space for the kids to run around and play freely, while the others could relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The house itself strikes a wonderful balance between rustic charm and modern comfort, beautifully appointed and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. The grounds and large pool were a real highlight, offering endless opportunities for both fun and relaxation. Well located for easy excursions to St Emillion and Duras adding to the overall enjoyment. We’re already dreaming of our next visit and the memorable sunsets.

The house was lovely, with plenty of space for our kids to run around and play, while the grandparents relaxed in comfort. The rustic charm of the surrounding area added to the ambiance, and the property itself was well-appointed with a stunning large pool and gorgeous grounds. But what really made our stay special was the abundance of excursions and places to explore nearby. From charming villages to historic landmarks, there was always something new to discover. The perfect blend of relaxation and adventure! If you're looking for a family-friendly getaway in France, look no further! We can't wait to return.
