Overview
Description
Musselwick Cottage is a delightful cosy retreat in a great location. The Wales Coastal path is just metres up the road, and the beautiful beach, and large creek, of Sandy Haven just a few minutes further. You can walk to both in around five minutes.Sandy Haven beach is revealed in its full glory at low tide, with interesting rockpools and low wooded cliffs. It’s a great place for catching crabs as they seem to love the waters under the small bridge that is revealed as the tide goes out. This is a perfect spot for explorers of all ages and for dogs who love to run free as Sandy Haven beach is dog friendly all year round.
Pembrokeshire itself is a paradise for walkers and the hidden gems of Monk Haven and Dale are easy walks along the coastal path from the cottage. We all love taking the paddleboards and kayaks out at high tide - you can either explore inland or towards the sea.
The cottage is cosy with plenty character and retains many of its original features. It has a log burning stove in the dining area, double glazing, and central heating. The cottage itself has been decorated with character and with an eye for detail. All the rooms are a good size, giving the cottage a feeling of space and comfort, even for a group of six adults.
The velux windows upstairs and large farm-style windows downstairs ensure the cottage is flooded with natural light. There is a family bathroom downstairs and an en-suite in the upstairs bedroom. There is also a good sized, sheltered and fully enclosed garden which guests, and their dogs, can enjoy. The cottage may not be suitable for those with mobility issues, due to the upstairs living area and two internal steps downstairs - please bear this in mind when booking.
The cottage is a converted farm building and is part of Skerryback Farm Cottages, a farm that was developed as purpose-built holiday cottages around 10 years ago. It therefore benefits from some shared outside spaces and good parking facilities. You can also hire out other cottages if you are a larger group (just ask about this). There is superfast broadband and a SMART TV, so although you are rural you are also very well connected.
You are also close to a vibrant town. Musselwick Cottage is about a 15-minute drive from Milford Haven where there are two large supermakets and all your local amenities. There are also some great places to eat on the harbour. The surrounding countryside, especially the short walk to the beach, is stunning. Other beautiful beaches very close by are Marloes Sands, Dale, Little and Broad Haven and St Brides and a little further away (around 20 mins by car) are Nolton Haven and Newgale.
In terms of practicalities, we usually work on a SATURDAY CHANGEOVER. There may be some flexibility on this out of high season but we accept weekly bookings only during summer school holidays (Saturday to Saturday). Short breaks are available anytime except for the summer school holidays - please check with us for the exact price. Please also get in touch if you have any questions or particular needs – we are keen to make your holiday a joyful one where you can create plenty of lasting memories.

Leave ReviewWe arrived after a long journey were very happy to find that the cottage was well worth it
By Frances Kidd on 16-Aug-2025We could only stay a few days which was a shame because I quickly discovered that I wanted stay much longer. The cottage was spotless, comfortable and very well equipped. Sandy Haven bay is a short stroll away and good for morning dips, There is a great walk along the coast from the cottage, with some lovely coves and plenty of beautiful beaches a short drive. A day out in Tenby was filled with shopping and swimming. The location was cosy and quiet. The memory of spending a day on West Dale beach will keep me going through the winter We hope to be back!
A cottage near the beach
By Steve Hemmings on 05-Oct-2024A well equipped cottage - one of a group of converted farm buildings. Grass area round cottage ideal for dogs. Isolated location, 100 metres from a large, a very tidal beach and coastal walks, though nearest pub and facilities are a drive away. Good if you’re looking to “get away from it all”.
Fantastic again
By Joanne Thexton on 03-Aug-2024This is our second stay at musclewick cottage and we enjoyed ourselves so much we are booking the same 2 weeks again for next year. Alison the owner was great as usual, very helpful and nothing was too much to ask. The cleaners were fantastic and the place was spotless for us when we arrived and then changed linen, towels etc a week in. They have thought of nearly everything you will need to stay comfortably for an extended period of time and so it's like a home from home! The cottage is close to many fantastic beaches and attractions so boredom isn't ever an issue.... we couldn't really ask for more. The only thing to let it down was the games room which was such a hit the first visit with the kids is closed. We are hoping this is open next year 🙏 We highly recommend musclewick to anyone and everyone.
Relaxing break in a beautiful barn conversion
By Vicky Gent on 15-Mar-20244 adults had an amazing time staying here. The area is stunning offering many footpaths and the coastal walk is breathtaking. The cottage had everything we need and the communication with Allison was excellent. Will return at some point.

Out of season peace and quiet
By Barbara on 21-Oct-2023Well equipped and spacious, comfortable, warm, remote, property near to a beach at low tide.Excellent for crabbing.Perfect for family of three generations. There was every kind of heating imaginable but it was difficult to coordinate the different systems, fortunately the cottage was warm if you didn't touch any dials. There were manuals for all appliances. Excellent bottle of wine on arrival with shortbread. The advertised games room was locked and playground was not open due to insurance issues regarding supervision, but the owner had not communicated that to us.Child was a bit disappointed as not prepared for closure. As the booking communication had been excellent,it seemed a strange omission. There was confusion on my part about some negative online reviews, but having contacted the owner, I learned ownership had changed hands. Some of the lighting wasn't working on arrival, and the caretaker on site sorted it very quickly. We felt looked after and had a good week in mixed weather. It was extremely good value for money.

We are so pleased that you felt well looked after and enjoyed the beautiful beach (and its crabbing!) at low tide. Also that you were warm and cosy despite the combination of the storage heaters in the bedroom and central heating in the rest of the cottage. The wood burner always get everything toasty too! We're sorry again about the games room being closed - we've had no luck getting the site owner to re-open the games rooms so we have stopped advertising it to new clients. Thanks for your stay
