Villa La Peyriere is a beautiful holiday rental accommodation nestled within the scenic landscape of Sarlat. Its origins trace back to two old stone barns which have been meticulously refurbished into a comfortable residence. This careful renovation process has effectively fused the house’s historical charm with contemporary kitchen and bathroom amenities.
The villa’s setting is nothing short of idyllic, encompassing a generous 2100 square metre area with luxuriant gardens which offer stunning views of the luscious surrounding valley. It is also just a stone’s throw away from Sarlat’s medieval quarter, being only 600 metres away.
A key outdoor feature of the villa is a well-maintained private pool, measuring 7 by 4 meters, with the added convenience of sun loungers and umbrellas ensuring a comfortable lounging experience. Adjacent to the villa’s exterior are two splendid terraces, adorned with lush gardens, a variety of trees, and the occasional presence of birds.
The first terrace provides a delightful al fresco dining experience, complete with dual BBQ facilities – gas and wood, along with a large dining table. This enables guests to savour their meals while enjoying breath-taking panoramic views of the valley. The master bedroom in Villa La Peyriere is a beautifully lit room with a spacious queen-size bed (153cm x 203cm), an en-suite bathroom, a kitchenette, and a sitting area. It also includes a flat-screen TV with a DVD library and an iPod docking station. Although connected to the rest of the house, the master bedroom has its own private entrance.

Villa La Peyriere also features two double bedrooms. One of them sleeps two guests in a large queen-size bed (160cm x 200cm) with high-quality fittings and shares a bathroom with the other double bedroom. The second double bedroom also sleeps two guests and is furnished with a double bed (140cm x 200cm).
The property also has day bed in the sitting room (90cm X 200cm) which can be converted to a single bed on request.

By David Currie on 23-Aug-2025Villa La Peyriere was the perfect base for a wonderful week in Sarlat. The location is absolutely perfect; it is a short walk into the medieval centre of Sarlat and many of the Perigord Noir's must-see villages, châteaux and attractions are within easy reach by car. We've stayed in many great holiday villas in France and elsewhere over the years, but we've never experienced anything like Villa La Peyriere. It is a stunning home with authentic charm and modern convenience. Karen and Alex have thought of everything in its layout and it is so generously and thoughtfully equipped. There home itself is beautifully furnished and everything was spotlessly clean. The bed linen was crisp and the towels fluffy and luxurious. The kitchen has the highest standard of appliances and everything even the most "foody" of guests would need. The garden and grounds just incredible and very private. The pool area is self-contained and equipped with high quality sun beds. The garden is tastefully planted and the patio, complete with barbecue and plancha, has very comfortable furniture. The patio area has dreamy views over the stunning Dordogne countryside. It's often said that Sarlat is the jewel in the crown of the Dordogne and this wonderful property may well be the jewel in the crown of Sarlat holiday accommodation. Fabulous Holiday House!
By Debbie Slade on 02-Jul-2025You know you have found a great place when you are planning your third trip back, before you have even left your on your second stay. This fabulously house is perfectly appointed and situated - 10mins walk from the delightful town of Sarlat, yet with all the peace and calm of a rural retreat. The house itself is perfect whether there’s two of you or six, with plenty of room inside for lounging, eating and cooking (kitchen is very well equipped). The outside area is perfect for the beautiful weather - sit on the terrace to enjoy the early morning sunshine, views and peace, or in the evening for family dining and BBQs. The swimming pool is private, clean, visible from the house & constantly inviting - with plenty of comfortable loungers to enjoy a lazy sunny afternoon, or splashing around. All bedrooms are comfortable with modern bathrooms - a real home from home. The owners are wonderfully helpful, generous hosts without ever being intrusive - just there if you need them or have questions about the house or area. All this and in walking distance from the town where fantastic dining is available in abundance and in an area where there is plenty to do - from visiting Chateaux & caves to canoeing the Dordogne or cycling in the countryside. After years of holiday-ing all over France, we count this as one of great holiday house finds & will certainly return!
Perfect Sarlat location
By Jeremy B on 11-Sep-2023We really enjoyed our stay. The house is well equipped.with very modern appliances and lots of fans which were very necessary in the hot weather. The pool and garden are lovely and well laid out. The location is perfect with just a short walk down into town for shopping or for supper and obviously there are no parking issues on market day when Sarlat is extremely crowded.
Sumptuous accommodation, with breathtaking views
By Dawn B on 11-Jul-2022The second stay in this fabulous villa, perched halfway up the hill leading down into Sarlat old town, with a gap only down to the pandemic. After our first visit we both agreed a week was too short. The bedrooms are all comfortable and airy with caretaker on hand for any unforeseen queries, and the downstairs room at the top end of classy, especially with a 5/6 hob SMEG cooker. All the appliances are top quality, with an excellent array of cookery books to stimulate the inner chef. Since we last stayed in 2019, owners Karen & Alex, have put in lots of work around the BBQ, pool area and one of the gardens at the back of the house which now has a lovely, chic seating area for those long evenings, enjoying the scent of lavender and the company of skitty cats & fat bees. The villa easily sleeps 6 (in 3 doubles) with one room being almost a separate apartment, ideal if you want a little privacy from ''the others''. Being a 10 minute walk down into Sarlat, it''s ideally situated for the multiple bars and eateries in town, and a good stroll uphill back to burn off the extra cals. It''s also a villa that has the best of both worlds, privacy without being remote; 21st century comfort yet not surrendering its unique history & charm. We''ll be back as soon as funds allow...unless you get there before us!
Wonderful, peaceful location
By Amjop on 09-Jul-2022Left on Jul 9, 2022 for a stay in Jun 2022 The Villa is on the outskirts of Sarlat and close to all the highlights of the Dordogne. A truly stunning villa, beautifully equipped with numerous places to sit and admire the views. Anyone who also enjoys nature will love this location as the birds were amazing, also lovely to see so many rabbits enjoying the surroundings as well. A truly delightful place that is on our “to return list”.
Beautiful villa in a fab location
By jckbyr on 29-May-2019We loved the house and gardens. Easy check-in. We like to cook the local produce and the kitchen was the best we've had in a holiday rental. A short walk to the town too. We canoed on the river for a few hours, visited the Lascaux caves, Marqueyssac gardens, Castelnaud medieval castle, and more. We'd would love to return as there is a lot more to see and just to relax in the beautiful surroundings of the villa. Thanks Karen for all your help and wonderful home.
