Iveshead is a unique, magical railway carriage holiday home right on the Selsey seafront. Sleeping seven in five train compartment bedrooms, it is a wonderful place to step back in time while enjoying all the comforts of modern living. Iveshead is a much-loved family holiday home with a rich history full of happy memories. It has been a cherished getaway for its owners for the last sixty years, and it’s easy to see why.

Despite thoughtful modernisation, Iveshead retains the original railway carriage charm that makes it so truly special. The central sitting room is the heart of the home, with comfortable seating for seven, a large dining table, smart TV, and cosy electric fire — perfect for relaxing together after a day by the sea.

The cottage offers five bedrooms, each showcasing the unique railway carriage features that give this home its character, and sleeps up to seven guests.

Each bedroom retains its original railway carriage features including curved ceilings, train windows and carriage doors. The three single rooms are each an individual train carriage compartment. Both the double bedrooms are sea facing at the front of the property. The owners have decorated the rooms with some charming little railway carriage artefacts and local, vintage period train tickets, all which add to the charm of this gorgeous home. Both double rooms, are cleverly equipped with wardrobes and drawers plus each have a dressing table area and mirror with chair. There are USB charging sockets in each bedroom and the kitchen. The owners have thought of everything in this uniquely adapted traditional home. The three single bedrooms are small but comfortable, with a 2'6” bed, a small drawer unit and mirror in each. Although compact this home is ideal for a group of seven looking to enjoy the charms of a traditional seaside holiday.

The family bathroom is equipped with a bath and walk-in shower, while the fully fitted kitchen includes a small breakfast table for casual meals. A handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and fridge freezer ensures convenience for longer stays.

A south-facing sun lounge provides a comfortable and peaceful spot to sit, unwind, and watch the world go by — with views of the greensward and the seawall, with the sea just beyond. Outside, you’ll find private parking for up to three cars to the side of the house and a secure, sheltered garden, a sun trap in the afternoon, and perfect for children to play safely or for friends and family to gather in comfort.

Iveshead – A traditional railway carriage holiday home on the Selsey beachfront

Location: Iveshead is located in the seaside village of Selsey. East Beach Road is a residential area with direct access to the beach just over the green. It is a 20 minute walk to the town centre with all of its shops and restaurants and if you choose, you can walk all along the beach front to get to the village centre. Near the house there is a butcher, baker, green grocer, convenience store and fish and chip shop just a 5 minute walk away. There is also a kiosk, skate park and playground at the beach front making it an ideal holiday property for families.

Selsey is one of the sunniest places in the UK, with a record number of sunshine hours and the beach in front of the house is a popular spot for swimming, paddle-boarding, diving and many other water sports. Given that the beach is east facing and the prevailing wind is south westerly it is often one of the most sheltered beaches on the West Sussex coastline. It is also famous for its delicious crab! This is available, along with a variety of locally caught seafood, from the renowned Julie's fish shop. Julie's is situated at the seafront just a few moments walk from the house.

East and West Wittering, with access to more amenities and the famous white sandy beach are just a 15 minute drive away and Chichester is also just 15 minutes away.
