Description

This charming Grade 2 listed stone cottage boasts comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people and is attractively situated in a delightful rural hamlet. Only 1.5 miles from the picturesque seaside resort of Shanklin with its gentle sloping sandy beaches, it is ideal for the family or a romantic getaway. The cottage is surrounded by a patchwork of open farm and woodland, less than 100 yards from a vast array of footpaths which link to the major walking trails of the island - showcasing some wonderful panoramic views. Within a 5 min drive you can visit the pretty villages of Godshill and old Shanklin which offers an array of quaint tea shops and welcoming pubs. For a larger variety of shops there is the market town of Newport and for a livelier evening you can visit Ryde.

This beautiful single storey cottage dates back to 1695 and has been sympathetically converted from an ancient stone barn. It is one of a pair of charming cottages, which are divided by an impressive central archway that gives access to its rear garden Gate and further cluster of little cottages.

Dairy Maid has been renovated to a high standard and where possible original features have been retained. Access to the cottage is through a large oak door and two steps up and from the main hallway there are two beautiful bedrooms; one with twin beds and the other a king.
Also from the hallway you have access to the bathroom; offering the best of both worlds with bath and a separate shower. Further along the hallway you access the spacious lounge/diner with two small steps up into a bright room featuring the impressive inglenook fireplace with a large log burning stove and two baskets of logs are supplied,
The lounge is furnished with 2 leather sofas and a leather chair; featuring Wi-Fi internet, telephone, Sky Q TV and a DVD player. The dining area overlooks the garden for your casual or formal dining experience.
The separate large kitchen with hardwood worktops, Belfast sink, a duel fuel range-master cooker featuring electric double ovens and gas hob is the ultimate culinary delight to use. A microwave, Coffee machine ,refrigerator, freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher are also there for you to utilise.
The french doors in the lounge open out to a enclosed, secluded and tranquil garden. Outdoor furniture and a BBQ allow you to enjoy alfresco dining or relax under the tree and just read a book, and the garden gate gives access back under the archway to the two parking spaces and a sunny front garden with
A garden bench to enjoy the afternoon sun.

If you visit the cottage at Christmas or the New year it is fully decorated inside and out to enhance your stay.

On your arrival you will find a seasonal complimentary welcome pack and a treat for your pets too. We are a pet friendly cottage and accept 3 well behaved dogs which must be over 12 months old at £20.00 per dog per week.

WOW

By Jayne, Martin and Olivia on 24-Jun-2025

WOW does not even come close to describing this beautiful Grade II listed cottage. Set in the lovely setting of the country side with a footpath opposite. Shanklin is a 10 min drive and is quaint seaside town with a sandy beach. The old town is even quainter with thatched cottages, tearooms, gift shops and pubs. Upon arrival the welcome feel to the cottage and stunning interior totally blew us away. Linda and David left welcome gifts (never before have we ever received such generous and thoughtful gifts before). The garden was secluded and was just like stepping into how country cottage gardens used to be. Linda and David were the perfect hosts and offering their beautiful cottage to whoever is lucky enough to find it. Trust me you will not be disappointed - the pictures you see in the description are exactly what you see when you arrive. We will certainly be coming back.

Excellent stay

By Jackie and Clive Robinson on 05-Apr-2025

We had a week at Dairymaid Cottage. The place was superb, comfortable, well-appointed, very homely and comfortable. It has a lovely private garden and the location is very peaceful, yet not far from any amenities. The cottage is very well furnished in a quaint style, well-heated and a log fire if needed. The kitchen has everything we could possibly need, and the whole place is very clean and cared for. This did not feel like a holiday rental, it was so comfortable from the outset. We would certainly rent again and wherever we go, we would be hard pushed to find accommodation as good as this. Totally recommended in any season..

Gorgeous cottage in a great location

By Mandy on 22-Mar-2025

Beautiful cottage in a lovely rural location with walks from the door, but not far from the nearest seaside at Shanklin. The cottage is well looked after, clean, with everything you could need for a wonderful holiday. It’s our fourth visit and the new bathroom is stylish and in keeping with the rest of the cottage. Looking forward to our next visit, it can’t come soon enough.
