Overview
Description
Lovers of the great outdoors ‘flock’ to the Harrier’s Nest – our cosy, country cottage in Kent. This charming countryside cottage is a natural pick for small families or groups of friends seeking peace, comfort, and views that soothe the soul. With two bedrooms and a welcoming, rustic style, Harrier’s Nest offers a relaxing escape in the heart of the Kent countryside.
Its wood-clad exterior and perfect symmetry creates an instantly inviting first impression, while the interior feels like a true home-from-home. The snug lounge catches the light through French doors, looking out onto open farmland – perfect for curling up after a countryside ramble.
Across the hallway, the kitchen-diner offers a different but equally calming view: the Mocketts Farm duck pond. Fully equipped with everything needed for a fuss-free self-catering stay, it’s a place to cook, chat, and eat at your own pace. You’ll also enjoy extras like free WiFi, Freeview TVs, and a thoughtful welcome basket to get you started.
Upstairs, the two bedrooms (set up as doubles or twins) are a cosy mix of soft neutrals, deep woods and warming tones – inviting spaces to relax and recharge after a day in the fresh air.
Outside your door, there’s even more to enjoy. Guests share access to the onsite games room and a fully enclosed 2-acre dog paddock*, while just down the road is The Ferry House – our award-winning restaurant offering a true taste of Harty with homegrown and foraged ingredients on every plate. Just a short stroll from the cottage, our 2AA Rosette restaurant, The Ferry House, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with views over the Swale estuary. It’s dog-friendly, with private dining available for groups. Pre-booking is essential, as opening hours may vary due to private events.
In-cottage catering is also available, including heat-and-serve traybakes, grazing boards and brunch platters.
From April 2026, The Ferry House will open only for special dining events, with private dining and events, and in-cottage catering continuing.

By Jennifer on 19-Apr-2025We had a lovely 2 night stay here with our family. The accommodation was lovely, kitchen had everything we needed and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Rooms were all a good size and the surroundings were lovely. We loved the games room too!
Wow lovely and ideal place for The Ferry House
By Brian L on 15-Apr-2024Wow.....stayed here for a wedding at The Ferry House. Walked in and the cottage was fabulous and welcoming. Everything you need is there. Nice touch with local apple juice and biscuits provided. Modern kitchen.... Booking process and arrival so easy. The Ferry House is a short 8 minute walk and 750m away. Would definitely recommend if you want to visit Isle of Sheppey and even more so if attending a function at The Ferry House.
