Stone Barn, Minehead A stylish, architect-designed stone barn conversion sleeping up to six, with three bathrooms, a private enclosed garden and hot tub. Set in a quiet conservation area of Minehead’s old town, Stone Barn combines contemporary design with comfort, quality and a peaceful yet highly walkable location. Five Star Gold rated by VisitEngland. Stone Barn has been thoughtfully designed and beautifully restored, offering modern open-plan living within a characterful historic shell. Guests consistently comment on the high standard of finish, attention to detail and how immediately welcoming the property feels. “Clean, classy, yet cosy — one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in.” Living space The first-floor open-plan living, dining and cooking space makes the most of the barn’s height and proportions, with a high ceiling, excellent natural light and distant views towards Exmoor. It is a relaxed, sociable room designed for spending time together — cooking, chatting, unwinding on the comfortable corner sofa or enjoying quiet evenings in front of the electric real-flame-effect fire. The living area includes a large HDTV with DVD player, Netflix and Sky, along with fast fibre Wi-Fi. There is also a generous selection of books, DVDs and games for all ages, making the space equally suited to lively gatherings or restful downtime. Stone Barn sleeps up to six across three beautifully furnished bedrooms, arranged over two floors. Upstairs is a double bedroom with its own adjacent bathroom with a shower. Downstairs are two further bedrooms: one king-size double and one super-king, which can be configured as a twin if preferred. Both ground-floor bedrooms are en suite, making the layout particularly flexible for families, couples or groups of friends travelling together. Beds feature Hypnos or hotel-standard mattresses, with high-quality linens and bedding consistently praised for comfort. “Spotlessly clean, warm and extremely comfortable — we all slept brilliantly.” Kitchen and dining The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for proper cooking rather than a holiday compromise. It includes two NEFF slide-and-hide ovens, an induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, Nespresso Essenza Mini coffee machine and cafetière. The dining area sits comfortably within the open-plan space, making it easy to cook, eat and socialise together — whether for relaxed breakfasts, family meals or special occasions. Utility area A compact utility area is located downstairs beneath the staircase and houses the washing machine, tumble dryer, airers and a high chair. This practical space is particularly useful for longer stays, families and guests returning from beach days or walks. Garden and hot tub Outside, Stone Barn has a pretty, enclosed and secluded garden with seating for outdoor dining or morning coffee. The private hot tub is a favourite feature year-round, offering views of the nearby church and, on clear nights, Minehead’s dark skies. “The starry-night hot tub was absolute bliss.” Location Stone Barn is set in Minehead’s old town conservation area — peaceful and picturesque, yet within walking distance of Minehead town centre, its sandy beach, shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, as well as Minehead railway station for the West Somerset Railway. Exmoor National Park, the South West Coast Path and dramatic coastal scenery are all a short drive away, making the Barn an excellent base for exploring the wider area. Guests also receive a copy of the owner’s walking book, which includes suggested routes and ideas for days out. Dog, child and walker friendly Stone Barn is child- and dog-friendly, with thoughtful touches that make travelling with dogs easy and comfortable, including dog beds, towels and bowls. Walkers appreciate the nearby access to both coastal and inland routes, as well as returning to a warm, well-equipped base at the end of the day. Parking The property has on-site parking for one vehicle, with additional on-street parking available nearby for any extra cars. Quality and reassurance Stone Barn is Five Star Gold rated by VisitEngland and is known for exceptional cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail. The owner has been welcoming guests to Exmoor for over 15 years, and this experience shows in the thoughtful presentation, communication and care throughout each stay. Many guests return repeatedly, often describing it as their favourite place to stay. “The best barn we’ve been in — we keep coming back.” Whether you’re planning a relaxed family holiday, a walking break, a celebration with friends or simply time to slow down, Stone Barn offers stylish design, comfort and a location guests return to again and again. All quotes are taken from our Guest Book and are from 2025.

The accommodation is amazing and well-equipped

By Joe on 12-Jan-2026

The accommodation is amazing and well-equipped. We had a lovely stay. We visited Lynton and Lynmouth and looked around Minehead. We had good food all round with pizza from Smash Corner, ate at the Blue Ball Inn at Countisbury and The Old Ship Aground in Minehead. A great location, and we really enjoyed the break. Many thanks.”
