The Old Sweet Shop, Minehead A charming, chocolate-box thatched cottage sleeping up to eight, with a private garden and hot tub. Set in a quiet conservation area of Minehead’s old town, The Old Sweet Shop blends period character with comfort and space, making it ideal for families, friends and multi-generational stays. Five Star Gold rated by VisitEngland. Beautifully restored and full of charm, The Old Sweet Shop retains many original features including exposed beams, thick stone walls, leaded windows and a gently curving staircase. These sit alongside high-quality furnishings and thoughtful modern touches, creating a cottage that feels both historic and wonderfully welcoming. “From the moment we arrived, the house felt like a true home from home.” Living space The main living room is warm and inviting, centred around a large wood-burning stove set into the original fireplace. Comfortable seating, a relaxed layout and plenty of space make it ideal for evenings together after a day exploring Exmoor. The living area includes a 50” TV with Sky, Netflix and Blu-ray player, making it just as suited to cosy nights in as it is to social gatherings. There is fast Wi-Fi. You'll find books, toys and games in the cottage – suitable for all ages. “It felt like home as soon as we arrived — everything you want is here.” Bedrooms and bathrooms The Old Sweet Shop sleeps up to eight guests across four beautifully presented bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, arranged over two floors. On the ground floor: • A four-poster king bedroom with en-suite shower room • A second double bedroom with a separate shower room On the first floor: • A twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room • A king-size bedroom with en-suite bathroom and roll-top bath Each bedroom is individually styled and named after a favourite sweet, with Hypnos or hotel-standard mattresses, high-quality linens and excellent storage. The layout works particularly well for families or groups who want both shared space and privacy. “The beds were incredibly comfortable — we all slept so well.” Kitchen and dining The light and spacious kitchen and dining room is designed for sociable cooking and relaxed meals together. It features a large farmhouse table, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and coffee machine, making it easy to cater for larger groups. A separate utility room houses a fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, which guests particularly appreciate for longer stays or beach days. “Everything has been thought of — the kitchen is so well equipped.” Garden and hot tub Outside, the cottage has a large enclosed lawned garden with a terrace and garden furniture, perfect for al fresco dining or relaxing in the sunshine. The private hot tub is a highlight for many guests, offering a peaceful spot to unwind at the end of the day. “The hot tub was wonderful — the perfect way to relax after exploring.” Dog, child and family friendly The cottage is child- and dog-friendly, with an enclosed garden and thoughtful touches to make family stays easy and comfortable. Two travel cots, a highchair and stairgate are available on request. There are baskets, blankets, towels and treats for our furry friends. “Perfect for three generations — everyone felt at home.” Parking Private parking is available for two cars, with additional free on-street parking nearby if required. Quality and reassurance The Old Sweet Shop is Five Star Gold rated by VisitEngland and is known for its exceptional cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail. The owner has been welcoming guests to Exmoor for over 15 years, and this experience shows in the care and thought put into every stay. In 2023 it was recognised with a Rose Award, a prestigious accolade from VisitEngland commending exceptional customer service. Many guests return time and again, often describing the cottage as one of their favourite places to stay. “We are already planning our next visit — it really is something special.” Whether you’re planning a family holiday, a celebration with friends or a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings, The Old Sweet Shop offers warmth, character and a location guests return to year after year. Fabulous cottage in a fantastic location.

By Jen and party on 22-Apr-2025

“Such a fabulous cottage in a fantastic location. We’ve had a very enjoyable week ticking off the walks in the very useful welcome pack you left us. The cottage has been perfect for our three generations staying here. We’ve loved sitting in the sun on the patio, and we had an Easter egg hunt in the beautiful garden. We loved playing games in the evening and relaxing in the hot tub after our days out exploring. Thank you to all concerned in making it such a great stay. We’ll definitely recommend The Old Sweet Shop to others and hope to come back in the future.” Jen, Martin, Sarah, Steve, Katie, Thomas, Alice and Winnie and Penny the dogs, April 2025

Wonderful weekend

By The Griffiths family on 28-Apr-2025

“Thank you ever so much for a wonderful weekend in The Old Sweet Shop cottage. It was a family weekend, brothers and sister and partners. Aged from mid-60s to early 80s, it suited us oldies well! It was a home-from-home, with the added bonus of the hot tub! The wonderful weather made the weekend extra special. The service was first class. Thank you Lucy and co. It was lush!” The Griffiths family, April 2025

We were blown away

By The Harringtons, Nash and Langley families. on 05-May-2025

“We were blown away when we entered this beautiful cottage. Every detail has been taken care of and it feels very homely. My two daughters loved being here to celebrate their 30th birthday and my granddaughter Ruby was excited to see her pretty bedroom and to go in a hot tub for the first time. I appreciated the refillable eco toiletries and scourers. We enjoyed looking for fossils, collecting sea glass and doing a little litter pick at the same time at Watchet where we recommend Chives Café. Thank you Lucy and team.” The Harringtons, Nash and Langley families, May 2025
