Description
Lets are from Sunday to Sunday.This lovely converted school, at the edge of an unspoilt village, enjoys wonderful views over Le Parc Naturel Regional de Quercy. Soucirac is centrally situated between the Lot and Dordogne rivers and ideally placed for all local attractions. The house is 7km from the charming village of Le Vigan and 15km from the medieval market town of Gourdon.
Accommodation:
Ground floor: large, comfortable living room, dining area and extremely well equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. Downstairs WC. English satellite TV/DVD/CD player. A large selection of DVDs and books + some CDs and board games are provided for guests' use. Free wi-fi.
1st floor: 3 bedrooms - 1 master bedroom with king size bed and ensuite bathroom.
- 1 large double room with 1 double & 1 single bed - 1 twin bedded room.
There is a large family bathroom with twin washbasins, separate shower cubicle and an additional over the bath shower. Separate upstairs WC.
Outside: Secluded 3/4 acre garden and a 1.2 acre paddock with far-reaching, stunning views of the surrounding countryside; parking area for up to 3 cars and a lovely south-facing, enclosed courtyard.
The private 10 x 5 metre pool (with pool alarm) has a wonderful, sunny position with a decking area, loungers, tables, chairs and parasols. .
There is also an outdoor table tennis table and dart board.and a separate, private boules pitch.
The enclosed, south facing courtyard, with a large table & chairs + parasol, overlooks the superb views of the surrounding countryside. There is also a delightful, covered, outdoor living area with built in BBQ and comfortable seating. This is situated next to an outdoor kitchen which houses the washing machine and a second fridge and has additional cooking and eating utensils.
With so little light pollution, the courtyard and garden are wonderful places to sit and admire the night sky, where even The Milky Way is visible, in this unspoilt area of France.
Bed linen, bath & hand towels and tea towels are provided. Please bring your own pool towels.
The property is unsuitable for under 5s and we do not accept pets.
Prices quoted are for 2 people per week.
For 2026 add £130 per additional person per week.
An additional £5.00 per person per night Tourist tax is payable for over 18s.
A 5% discount is applied for 2 or more weeks booked.
We request a deposit of 20% of the booking fee to secure the booking, with the balance + a £250 refundable security deposit, to be paid 8 weeks before your holiday.

By Thorpe Family on 24-Aug-2025We have had seven wonderful family holidays at L'Ancienne Ecole over the past 10 years! It's a wonderful home from home with large private garden, pool with decking area, barbecue and outside catering/entertaining space. The house is superbly appointed and equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay, even a proper kettle with complimentary tea-bags and milk to make that all important cuppa after a long drive! There are numerous supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants in (and around) Gourdon about 20 mins drive away offering all the provisions you need. Just be aware the supermarkets close around midday on Sundays so if you are arriving that day be sure to bring supplies for evening meal and breakfast the following morning! Views of the surrounding countryside from the house, garden and the private meadow are truly breathtaking. We literally spend hours just soaking it in! The local area has plenty to explore including enormous caves, river activities, country walks, medieval towns, and much more if you feel like venturing out, but its just as nice to stay in and relax by the pool! Our sons have enjoyed every visit here as they've grown up and even now as young men still enjoy staying here. Excellent hosts and local caretakers ensure everything is perfect for your stay. Highly recommended!

WE ENJOYED THE LOT A LOT!

The owners were attentive and their local manager’s friendly and efficient. This was our first visit, but it won’t be our last.

Idyllic country stay
By Gillian on 08-Jun-2025A lovely country home in a quiet rural hamlet with stunning view. Extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. Great location for visiting the Dordogne and Lot. A car is essential due to rural location. Would be happy to return.

Perfect location
By Charlie & Carol Whyte on 17-May-2025Just had an excellent 3 week holiday at l,ancienne ecole. Wonderful setting with great views over the Quercy Regional Natural Park. Ideal location for a peaceful relaxing holiday with a great pool, games and book & music selection but also some really interesting places to visit like the Gouffre de Padirac and Rocamadour. Would love to come again.

Stunning views, lovely house.
By Bryan Shaw on 01-Sep-2024It's a bit like staying in a boutique hotel but you have to do your own cooking, but with a well-equipped kitchen, outdoor kitchen and bbq, that wasn't hardship. We made good use of the pool, garden, courtyard and paddock, played table tennis and it even has its own boule court! Can't wait to come back.

A beautiful home in a fantastic location
