Large, period house in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with distant sea views
A quiet, semi-rural position only 700m to the 'City' centre and 10/15 Mins walk to coastal path/beach

Our title refers to 5* as we've been fortunate enough to receive 90 x 5 Star reviews, many from returning travellers. We communicate with our guests on a personalised basis and we look forward to hearing from you if you'd like to spend some time in this wonderful part of the country with our house as your base.

Ty Glasfryn has been carefully renovated and furnished to a high standard. It is a stone built, former doctor's surgery and farmhouse dating from the 1850's with over 3,000 sqft of character-filled space in which you can spread out and relax. There's even a former servant's staircase which guests tell us is great for children's hide & seek!

We can sleep up to 12. There are 5 comfortable, large bedrooms with high ceilings and other Victorian features with beds for 10. The quality furnishings include mostly Vi-spring mattresses with 2 x King size, 2 x Superking size (which can be split into singles if required) and full-size bunks. There are also 2 x adult size 'Z' beds, with comfy sprung mattresses, for use in any room if needed to increase the sleeping options to 12. A travel cot and high chair are available. Do browse through our photos to see the style of the rooms and we can supply basic floor plans if required.

There are 3 showers, one bath and 4 loos in the 2 family bathrooms, en-suite and ground floor cloakroom plus a further courtyard WC and hot & cold outdoor shower for sandy wet-suits or mucky dogs! You'll gather that well-behaved dogs are welcome here.

We look out over fields and are yet only about 700m from the centre of St Davids, or another short walk to the coastal path and nearest beach. There is a convenient footpath opposite which leads to a large and well-stocked supermarket past a large outdoor children's play area with swings etc (both within less than 5 mins stroll) and all the other central facilities St Davids facilities are nearby.

PLEASE NOTE : the local Google street view image of Ty Glasfryn is out of date. The Council have upgraded Glasfryn Road to incorporate a new pavement link towards the award winning Visitors Centre and then on to the middle of St Davids. This runs opposite our house and provides the opportunity to walk safely into the nearby central area without having to worry about parking in busier times.

Our location is ideal for you to access all this important and historic City has to offer, including it's wonderful Cathedral, the remnants of the Bishop's Palace and other monuments. The surrounding countryside and coastline within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is magnificent and has so much wildlife for you to discover.

The house sits in approx 1/3 acre with a number of mature trees and a south facing, mostly lawned garden. The perimeter is fenced and has been made as dog-proof as possible. The driveway is gated with parking for at least 5 cars and the south facing patio has a teak table and chairs for outdoor eating. There are steamer chairs and other outdoor furniture available for relaxing and we also have a covered area for table tennis and a large, purpose built BBQ. From the first floor landing, and two of the bedrooms, there are lovely panoramic views over St Davids towards Whitesands beach which is about 2 miles away. It's a great spot to watch the sun set over Cardigan Bay too.

For all your self-catering needs we have a 4 oven Aga in a large, very well-equipped kitchen with a separate electric oven and gas hob for non-Aga users. We have a dishwasher, large fridge, a microwave and a separate fridge/freezer in the utility room. There is a log burner in each of the two reception rooms and radiator central heating throughout. The new wooden windows are double glazed, adding to our significant investment in insulation throughout the house. We provide a large, 'smart' TV with freeview channels, a DVD player and a fibre Wi-Fi service is available for guests to use.

Ty Glasfryn is ideally suited for small or large groups providing family holiday accommodation for all generations. It offers a peaceful, comfortably spacious, well-equipped and conveniently located holiday home as a base for you to explore everything Pembrokeshire has to offer, at all times of the year.

Should you wish to stay for less than 7 nights, or arrive other than on our usual Saturday changeover day, then please ask us if this is possible and for a specific price. We do not let for less than 3 night nor do we accept bookings from Hen or Stag parties.

Lastly we have a good mobile signal at the house due to nearby phone masts. A welcome pack of basic provisions is provided on your arrival. Agricultural fields are adjacent and opposite, usually home to either cows or sheep.

If you have any questions about Ty Glasfryn or St Davids and the wider area then just let us know.

A fabulous and comfortable house.

By Debbi Payne on 06-Nov-2021

Our stay at this property could not have been better. A great place to share with friends or family. Beautifully furnished and decorated and very well equipped. The location is ideal, easy to walk into St Davids in minutes but quiet enough for a peaceful getaway. Would definitely recommend.

A relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings

By John Charles on 23-Oct-2021

We stayed for a week in late October, as an extended family of 10, when the weather was typically autumnal. The house is spacious, warm and inviting. The kitchen is fully equipped and the adjacent dining room with its huge dining table adds to the feeling of a grand family occasion. I have never slept in a bed that is more comfortable than those in Ty Glasfryn and these gave the whole family entourage the most relaxing nights' sleep. On the couple of nights that the wind and the rain lashed St. Davids, we just lit the wood burners, hunkered down and enjoyed a few drinks with friends. Ideally, there are two lounge rooms so the children enjoyed entertaining themselves away from the adults. There is a large utility room where we were able to dry our wet weather gear, after long wet walks, ahead of the next day's adventure. The house is close enough to the amenities that we were able to let the children have their own adventures around the town. Having thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we have booked again for next year!

Delightful place to stay

By Tracey Button on 12-Oct-2021

This lovely 5 bedroom holiday cottage was a real delight on the edge of St David's in Pembrokeshire. Just a 5-minute walk to the centre of St David's. My husband & I arrived for a few days break with our daughter and a friend of hers, for 3 nights from the 12th of October 2021. The front-drive area is big enough for a few cars. The house was very clean and fresh, warm reception in the kitchen with some groceries and a bunch of flowers from the owners for our stay. The main bedroom was nicely decorated and of good size, a small fireplace, a small ensuite shower room and is overlooking the side of the house into the garden, a comfortable bed and good night sleep had by us. The room which our daughter and her friend stayed in was a twin bedroom, which was through a bunk bedroom to gain access to it. Again very nice décor in the rooms and connected to this area just before the bunk bedroom was an ensuite bathroom. Downstairs was a front lounge with an open fireplace, where the TV, DVD player were with an open fire. We spent one or two evenings altogether watching DVDs. I liked that there was only one TV in the house as this made everyone get together for a time before disappearing to read or play games. There is a larger lounge again with a fireplace and that looks out into the garden which is of a nice size. A BBQ station and working top area were great for us to light the BBQ and have bacon sandwiches outside one morning, just something a little different from our holiday to remember. There is an open shed with a table tennis table there and the girls liked to play on this. The house for me was a place where I felt instantly comfortable to be there and I would definitely return for another break perhaps with my brother and his three children. Tracey & Ian
