Our title refers to 5* as we've been fortunate enough to have received over 100 x 5 Star reviews, many from returning travellers. We take pride in having good communications with our guests and we look forward to hearing from you if you'd like to spend some time in this wonderful part of the country with our house as your base.
Ty Glasfryn has been carefully renovated and furnished to a high standard. It is a stone built, former doctor's surgery and farmhouse dating from the 1850's with over 3,000 sqft of character-filled space in which you can spread out and relax. There's even a former servant's staircase which guests tell us is great for children's hide & seek!
We have recently re-carpeted and re-decorated throughout, and also included some new furniture for your added comfort.
We can sleep up to 12. There are 5 comfortable, large bedrooms with tall ceilings and other Victorian features with beds for 10. The quality furnishings include mostly Vi-Spring mattresses with 2 x King size, 2 x Super king size (which can be split into singles if required) and 2 full-size bunks. There are also 2 x adult size 'Z' beds, with comfy, sprung mattresses for use in any room if needed to increase the sleeping options to 12. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Do browse through our photos to see the style of the rooms and we can supply basic floor plans to show the layout if required.
There are 3 showers, one bath and 4 loos in the 2 family bathrooms, en-suite and ground floor cloakroom plus a further courtyard WC and hot & cold outdoor shower for sandy wet-suits or mucky dogs! You'll gather that well-behaved dogs are welcome here.
We look out over fields and are yet only about 700m from the centre of St Davids, or another short walk to the coastal path and nearest beach. There is a convenient footpath opposite which leads to a large and well-stocked supermarket past a sizeable outdoor children's play area with swings etc (both within less than 5 mins stroll) and all the other central facilities St Davids facilities are nearby.
The Council have recently upgraded Glasfryn Road to incorporate a new pavement link towards the award-winning Visitors Centre and then on to the middle of St Davids. This runs opposite our house and provides the opportunity to walk safely into the nearby central area without having to worry about parking in busier times.
Our location is ideal for you to access all this important and historic small City has to offer, including its wonderful Cathedral, the remnants of the Bishop's Palace and other monuments. The surrounding countryside and coastline within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is magnificent and has so much wildlife for you to discover.
The house sits in approx 1/3 acre with a number of mature trees and a south facing, mostly lawned garden. The perimeter is fenced and has been made as dog-proof as possible. The driveway is gated with parking for at least 5 cars and the south facing patio has a teak table and chairs for outdoor eating. There are steamer chairs and other outdoor furniture available for relaxing and we also have a covered area for table tennis together with a large, purpose-built charcoal BBQ. From the first-floor landing, and two of the bedrooms, there are lovely panoramic views over St Davids towards the coastline at Whitesands beach which is about 2 miles away. It's a great spot to watch the sun set over Cardigan Bay too.
For all your self-catering needs we have a 4 oven Aga in a large, very well-equipped kitchen with a separate electric oven and gas hob for non-Aga users. We have a dishwasher, large fridge, a microwave and a separate fridge/freezer in the utility room. There is a log burner in each of the two reception rooms and radiator central heating throughout. The new wooden windows are double glazed, adding to our significant investment in insulation throughout the house.
We provide a large, 'smart' TV with freeview channels and various apps, a DVD player, bluetooth speaker and a fibre Wi-Fi service is available for guests to use.
Ty Glasfryn is ideally suited for small or large groups providing family holiday accommodation for all generations. It offers a peaceful, comfortably spacious, well-equipped and conveniently located holiday home as a base for you to explore everything Pembrokeshire has to offer, at all times of the year.
Should you wish to stay for less than 7 nights or arrive other than on our usual Saturday changeover day, then please ask us if this is possible and for a specific price. We do not let for less than 3 nights, nor I'm afraid do we accept bookings from Hen or Stag parties.
A welcome pack of basic provisions is provided on your arrival.
Lastly, we have a good mobile signal at the house due to nearby phone masts.
If you have any questions about Ty Glasfryn or St Davids and the wider area, then just let us know.
Best Wishes, Liz and David Cooke
