A very spacious, light, character, family house with views to Ballard Down to the rear and only a few minutes gently sloping walk to the beach. Very quietly situated in a residential road. Spacious parking for 2 cars to the side of the house. Unrestricted parking in the road outside the house.
Wide, enclosed, lawned garden, good for football/outdoor games. Barbeque and large picnic table. Very comfortably furnished, two large sitting rooms, (one for you, one for the kids!) one with French doors and verandah, both with TV and DVD. Extensive children's DVD library. Internet access. Lots of children's games - Lego, Brio railway (bring your own trains), building blocks, wooden castle and pirate ship, marble run as well as board games. Wigwam (bring your own Chieftain's gear). Boules, hoopla, croquet and bean bag targets for the garden and a house kite. We are less than 5 minutes gently sloping walk to the beach. Everything in Swanage is within easy level walking distance - shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, mini golf, tennis courts, mackerel fishing, boat trips, boat hire, pitch and putt, children's playgrounds, crabbing, steam train, open-top buses, pier strolling, arcade, fishing, kite flying...and more! Wonderful day trips with the family to Corfe Castle (idyllic), Kimmeridge (fossils everywhere), Lulworth (castle and cove), Wareham (swimming pool, kayaking on the river, old-fashioned cinema), Tyneham (the lost village), Durdle Door, (iconic arch) Brownsea Island (Treasure Island with red squirrels and peacocks), Arne (bird watching and views of Poole harbour) and many more. It's a nature and walkers' paradise and when you book I give you a heap of information about walks and activities that might appeal.
Large, comfortable eat-in farmhouse type kitchen with AGA, window seat and views of hills. Properly equipped kitchen - Le Creuset casseroles, decent cook's knives etc. The table in the kitchen seats 6 adults comfortably, 8 is cosy and 10 is a squeeze. The house is very suitable for families and intergenerational stays and we often have children eat first then adults later. Having said that, we had New Year with adults, teenagers and younger children totalling 11 squeezed in - myself perched on a stool by the AGA. So it depends how you like it. Big front porch and generous utility room for all the beach stuff. Five bedrooms, (Superking, King and twin on the 1st floor. Two twins on the 2nd floor.) All lovely, comfy beds, no bunk beds. One very large bathroom with separate shower cubicle and bath which has two entrance doors so may be ensuite if wished. One family bathroom with hand shower and bath. Both are the original twenties fixings with big baths in oak cases. The twin bedroom on the 1st floor has a sink which helps with teeth cleaning pressures. There is an extra separate loo upstairs, There is a cloakroom downstairs sporting the original Edwardian thunderbox. (4 loos in total)
It is the perfect house if you want a classic Enid Blyton holiday. Once here you don't need the car except to do a big shop at the Co-Op (or not even that if you internet shop). The house is very suitable for two families sharing who don't want to be on top of each other and also multi-generation stays as the gentle walk to the beach is suitable for all ages. If you love walking you can join the coast path almost immediately outside the house. You can set off walking to Corfe Castle or Studland or you can catch the open top bus from the end of the road to Studland or Shell Bay and then walk back.
Although we are dog-lovers, sadly we don't accept pets visiting the house. Also, please note the beds are all made up for you when you arrive, but we do not provide towels.

Out of season, it is often possible to have early arrival and late departure.
