INSIDE THE LODGE
RELAX….Spacious enough for families & friends, cosy enough for couples - the lodge has accommodated every combination from solo travellers to families of 5 plus baby!
The lounge space has a 3 seater and a 2 seater sofa to share with your dogs. Pop your feet up on the handy bean bags and whether you are watching the lake or your favourite box set on the smart TV with free Netflix you are sure to relax.
We have even installed air conditioning, which is a very welcome addition as the lodge gets sunshine all day long! Hard flooring and large rugs help with the dog friendliness.
SELF CATERING… all you need is right here as these lodges are designed for all year round living.
The full kitchen provides everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. The kitchen includes a seats 6 dining table, washing machine, full size fridge freezer, microwave, oven, grill, hob, toaster, cafetière and kettle. As well as basics such as washing up liquid, kitchen towel, Sal, pepper, loo roll & hand wash you get a nice welcome pack too, which includes some Lincolnshire produce, and of course treats for the dogs!
A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP….The Retreat sleeps up to six: 4 in two bedrooms, with an additional guest using a sofa bed in the lounge, plus one cot. Guests often comment on what a good sleep they have - the main bedroom with kingsize bed is lovely. It has an ensuite, with a bath - what a treat!
The second bedroom can be a king or a twin, so overall the lodge is super versatile and suited to couples - especially since there is a second bathroom with walk in shower.

THE OUTSIDE SPACE
THE DECKING….Slide back the huge picture window door and step onto the south facing decking, which offers the most beautiful start to the day as you watch the sun rise. The Retreat has a 40 ft wraparound verandah and spacious decking. The large decking has been designed as an extension to the lodge and this ‘outdoor room’ provides the perfect place to sit and watch life on the water. A canopy can be pulled across during the summer months to provide some pleasant shade, and at night solar lights create a warm ambiance. With huge glass panels for uninterrupted lake views, the scene is set for a tranquil and relaxing stay. With good quality and comfortable outdoor sofas, and deckchairs, many guests spend a lot of time out on the decking watching the wildlife and, in the summer, the paddle boarders.
THE HOT TUB…is on its own enclosed and private lower patio. Right at the water's edge, this area with the large hot tub, picnic table with sun shade and easy chairs is a lovely little private spot, and with no light pollution, you can even enjoy the stars at night.
Maintained professionally between guests to meet HSG282 guidelines, you can be sure of a clean and safe experience.
THE GARDEN…bringing dogs? They will absolutely love it here, especially the garden.
Enclosed garden to 5ft with picket fence and screens, there will be no escapees. We are multi dog friendly - we even had 8 teeny chihauhas, and 8 was the number that checked out at the end of the stay! Arable land, so no frustration for those that like to chase. Your dogs are allowed wherever they would be allowed at home. Sadly they are not allowed in the lake - but don't worry, as there are plenty of gates to control movement.
The garden is accessed down a few steps from the door to the lodge - handy for early morning 'toilet duties'! There’s even a porch.
I have 4 dogs. One is reactive to traffic, one to other dogs, one to both! I know how tricky it can be to find somewhere that will limit the opportunities for dogs to react. The single lane track is not busy with traffic, and whilst there will be passers by with dogs, your car/s and a 5ft screened fence will reduce the likelihood. Besides, if your dogs are anything like mine, they will be sat enjoying the view over the lake with you!
The lodge has a double gate system at the front, plus an additional fence to restrict movement along the decking as you please. The perimeter is fence and screen. There is a lower fence in the hot tub area, I can provide additional fencing here by request.
Tallington Lakes is very friendly - many people here have dogs and we are all aware that they have their quirks.
If your dog is a non stop barker, or would be desperate to get in the lake, I woud advise that it probably isn't suitable.
THE JETTY..Fancy a spot of fishing? The lake has all manner of coarse fish: carp, roach, perch, tench...as a 50 year old quarry that's hardly been fished, there are some old and big fellas out there for you! Very few people fish here, so most have never been caught.
You can get really close to the water- why not hire paddle boards or kayaks and visit the jetty from the sailing centre? If you are wanting to launch any craft from the jetty, please contact the Tallington Lakes site on the following phone number for more details: 01778 347000.
OUT & ABOUT… Whether you want to hunker down for the week, or go out and about, staying here has it all!
The location of the lodge on site means that it’s very peaceful yet there is so much just a short walk or drive away.
The site itself has a very popular lakeside bar restaurant, plus a dry ski slope, a climbing tower, a swimming pool, fishing lake, water sports and open water swimming.
After shops and restaurants? Culture and history? Pretty Stamford has it all, including Burghley House.
Takeaways and supermarkets? - a short drive away, but they also deliver.
Further afield there is much to explore, including a day at the coast if you fancy it!
ABOUT TALLINGTON LAKES.. Tallington Lakes is both a leisure home park and outdoor activity centre on the Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Rutland borders. Please note that Tallington Lakes is not the same as Tattershall Lakes.
There is a lakeside bar, swimming pool, climbing wall, and dry ski slope, as well as extensive activities on the water including Open Water Swimming.

You can bring your own SUP and access the lake from dawn til dusk!
If you are wanting to launch any craft from the jetty, please contact the Tallington Lakes site on the following phone number for more details: 01778 347000
The Tallington Lakes site is well known for its activities both wet and dry!
Please note that the activities are independent of the lodge, and no passes are provided. If you would like to have a go at any of the following, please book in plenty of time.
The water activities are generally from April to September inclusive (but please do ring the site to check, to avoid disappointment). Slots are available to book around a month in advance, and you can do this online.

THE SWIMMING POOL…The 20 metre outdoor heated swimming pool has been designed as a sheltered sun trap with huge 7ft glass walls so that you feel like you are right next to the lake as you relax on the comfy sun loungers. There’s even a splash pool for the younger visitors! The swimming pool is open seasonally between June and September. Please contact Tallington Lakes on 01778 347000 for accurate dates, as these vary from year to year.
OPEN WATER SWIMMING… Fancy a spot of Open Water Swimming? Although it's not possible to swim in the lake the lodge is sited on, there is a beautiful lake (see photo below) for swimming at scheduled times.
ON DRY LAND… If water activities are not for you, how about having a go on one of the dry ski slopes? With the encouraging guidance of an instructor if required, you can learn to ski, snowboard or toboggan!
The dry ski slope is open all year round, with expert tuition available.

The climbing tower is a whopping 15 metres tall, and with its 8 lines, each with multiple graded routes, its gentle slab, its two vertical faces and an extreme 30 degree overhang there is something to challenge everyone. If you are new to climbing, or you need some instruction, one of the encouraging instructors can be booked to guide you.

The following is taken from the Tallington Lakes website:

‘We offer lessons tailored to your needs, from the quick thrills of a short taster session, to full tuition in belaying, knot tying, and movement skills.
Abseiling is one of the greatest thrills you can get, and high up on peoples ‘must do’ lists! Our considerate instructors will guide you through the challenge and help you to conquer your fears as you dangle on a rope 15 m above the ground!’
Why not give it a go?!
FURTHER AFIELD… Did you know that the impressive Elizabethan stately home Burghley House, as featured in Netflix series ‘The Crown’, and home to Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, is only a 20 minute drive from The Retreat? Tickets are available for the house and/or the gardens, and you can use them as many times as you like for a year! No stranger to the big screen, Burghley House has featured in The Da Vinci Code and Pride & Prejudice, when it was portrayed as the home of Lady Catherine De Bourgh. After maybe catching a glimpse of fallow deer in the grounds, and a walk round the gardens and parkland laid out by Capability Brown, visitors can treat themselves in the Orangery restaurant and gift shop.

The fine Georgian town of Stamford

Noted for its pretty warm stone facades, the historic town of Stamford is a star of entertainment, not only appearing in the 2005 film version of Pride & Prejudice , but also in Middlemarch and The Da Vinci Code. Take a wander along the River Welland then head into the town for fine shopping and delicious dining.

Stamford has a bustling market day every Friday, but it is full of character every day and boasts many independent shops and fine eateries to discover along its alleyways and in its secret courtyards, as well as a bustling high street.

RUTLAND WATER…Did you know that Rutland Water has a perimeter of 23 miles? There’s a 17 mile shortcut if that’s too far!
Rutland Water is also the home to the UK’s biggest fossilised sea creature!
AND there’s also an AQUA PARK

THE SEASIDE…If you’re desperate for the seaside, Hunstanton isn’t far away, head off early for coffee at the seaside, followed by a wander around and maybe fish & chips and a spot of people watching.

Points of Note:
No Smoking other than in designated area.
No dogs in the lake.
OWS sessions are available in a lake that is a 5 min walk away.

A much needed Retreat

By Tash, Han, Sophie, Rudy & Remy on 07-Jul-2025

Thank you to Ali for a very wonderful and relaxing day. Everything had been thought of to make it the most amazing place for a very much needed Retreat. Thank you for the welcome pack and especially the home-made dog treats. We explored Burleigh house and Stamford town Whilst here although not wanting to spend too much time out of the lodge!! The 2 dogs were the most relaxed they have ever been whilst away. Enjoying endless zoomies around the fantastic outdoor areas. We would love to return. Thank you.

Travelling with three chihuahuas

By Mollie, Billie, Poppy, Lila, Minnie on 10-Jul-2025

This was our first time at Tallington Lakes and this lodge exceeded our expectations! We were nervous at first travelling with our three Chihuahuas however when we arrived we were thrilled as every room is perfectly tailored to dogs of all sizes. This has been one of our most relaxed breaks yet. The views from the back garden of the lakes is stunning and out the front of the fields. Ali the host is lovely and is great at communicating. Overall had a wonderful time as did the dogs and we are sad to be leaving.

Reactive Dog Owner Here - Awesome Stay!

By Sean Savage on 07-Jul-2025

Reactive dog owner here Just got back from two nights here (wish it was longer but wasn’t sure how my dog would settle)! Despite my best efforts my dog isn’t good with any other animal on four legs really and so this place is a brilliant find, it literally ticks all the boxes! Very private, well maintained gates all over the property giving peace of mind whilst you’re in the hot tub or lying in the sun. Stayed midweek and it was so tranquil and peaceful, views over the lake are perfect and the lodge itself again clearly well maintained and spotless. Ali the host is very responsive and really friendly and helpful. My doggo was immediately at ease and relaxed the entire time. A/c was a bonus also. Even managed to get to the on-site bar whilst here as there was lots of outdoor seating so I could keep my distance from other dogs, awesome stay!

Booked our stay for next year on our second day at the lodge

By Josan Margot on 14-Jul-2025

We've just had 4 nights at the Lodge and it was magical. Ali thought of everything, cold drinks in the fridge when we arrived, dog beds, dog blankets even a cool mat! The lodge itself is perfectly laid out, immaculately clean. Comfy couches, sofas outside, the perfect hot tub with multiple umbrellas to keep cool, hot and cold water taps ohtside and doggie paddling pool. Loads of different bird foods. Aircon to regulat the temp inaode in case your dogs get too hot. In fact it was so perfect we booked our stay for next year on our second day at the Lodge.

We have had a lovely few days

By Samantha on 27-May-2025

23-27 May We have had a lovely few days relaxing at this beautiful lodge. The view is amazing and the outside area very well thought out – so pretty at night with all the lights. Paul loved having his personal jetty for fishing and his patience was rewarded today when he caught a very large pike! Best of all for us was that we could bring our five rescue dogs – one little, one medium and three big – and they were all allowed and were safely contained in the outside space. Thank you Ali for all the thoughtful touches Samantha and family Plus Benji, Trixie, Poppy, Lola and Daisy

By far the best lodge we have stayed in

By Becky Taylor on 08-Jul-2025

We're no strangers to Tallington Lakes, and the Lakeside Retreat is by far the best lodge we have stayed in. The location, the quality of the lodge, views, and outdoor furniture were amazing! It was fabulous for our sausage dog too. The decking is very secure, plenty of gates which kept her safe. We could go in the hot tub and contain her with us. The air conditioning was an added bonus that we had to use whilst we were here (34° heat). The communication from Ali was also 10/10. It really is an amazing place, so much so we have already booked again for June 2026! If we could award more than 5 stars, we would! Can't wait to come back again next year!
