Leave ReviewLovely Cottage
By Nicholas Brealey on 16-Aug-2025We had a great week in Valentine Cottage. The description of the cottage was very accurate. The cottage is compact but is very well organised. There was no difficulty parking. There are plenty of walks to do nearby and easy cycle rides on the nearby Monsal Trail. The garden is lovely, it was really nice to have breakfast in the garden on warm days. We were able to buy all the food we needed from the local shops and there were good options for eating out.
Beautiful Cottage
By Lydia on 23-Aug-2025This was a beautiful & cosy cottage. Probably one of the cleanest & well thought out properties I have ever holidayed in! The views are simply incredible &, if you have young children, there is a park right behind the property. The property was expertly decorated with many 'quirks' that we found interesting. The kitchen is incredibly well equipt with everything you need to get started, even down to the little things like a few sauces, condiments, tupperware, foil, cleaning products etc. The little touches like milk, biscuits & a bottle of wine were also lovely. The cosy lounge has plenty of very comfortable seating with a throw for those chilly evenings. There is also an array of board games, which came in really handy. We didn't use the open fire as the weather was kind, but it was lovely. The bedrooms are comfortable with everything you need, a dressing table in every room is a clear sign that this house had a woman's touch too!! All rooms are spacious, the 3rd room is a little smaller but still ample room for 2 adults. The garden is an absolute dream, so beautifully maintained! The loungers, table & chairs & bench provided ample outside seating. The addition of the chiminea & BBQ, complete with enough fuel to get you started, was also great. There are plenty of places to go for food & drink within walking distance & also plenty of beautiful walks to take just a stones throw away. The owners were incredibly helpful with recommendations & were very quick to respond to messages. I cannot talk Valentine Cottage up enough & we have told all our friends & family about it, it was a real home from home. Thank you so much for your hospitality Jill & Jeroen, we hope to be back one day soon :-)

By Nick on 23-Mar-2025The accomodation was better than I expected. Six of us fitted in very comfortably. There was no stinting on provision of cooking equipment, crockery, cutlery etc, and a generous welcoming pack of necessary supplies. What elevated our stay was the attention to detail that the hosts had made to ensure our comfort. We had a great time and a lot of that is due to the pampering we received from Jill and Jeroen. I wouldn't normally be so effusive but it is impossible to find fault, quite the reverse.

By Tuhin on 16-Feb-2025We had an amazing experience at Valentine Cottage. Jill And Jeroen were super responsive and helpful. They even accommodated an early check in request made on the day of arrival. We felt at home from the time we walked in. Each room was spectacular and the observatory was great. Though we could not utilize garden facilities much due to the weather but believe that is another great feature of the home. The surrounding was peaceful and serene. All the amenities were present and thanks for the great cookies. If we are ever going to go back to Tideswell surely we will go back to Valentine Cottage...

Lucy
By Lucy on 06-Jan-2025A beautiful cottage with everything you need. We didn't use the local pubs as we really enjoyed our peaceful stay. The local co-op is a 5 mins walk. The whole cottage is spotlessly clean, the kitchen has everything you need. The living room is cosy with a lovely fire and views over the Vale. We loved sitting in the dinning room and the girls used this bright space for uni and school work. The girls loved their bedrooms, I did find my bed too hard for a good night sleep for me, but we are all different. I would still loved to stay again. Giles
