Unusually well equipped for your comfort and enjoyment.

Originating from the 18th century, Tintern Abbey Cottage is chocolate box cute and has been transformed into a smartly contemporary and deliciously comfortable holiday house in an ancient body. It is right across the road from the mighty roofless Abbey, of which it has glorious panoramic views

Tintern Abbey Cottage is very popular for family reunions , significant birthdays and anniveraries, and chosen by professional couples wanting a little extra space for a honeymoon or just to relax. Film crew and professional performers come too . All people who want comfort, location and civilised convenience. Tintern Abbey Cottage is a also a firm family holiday favourite ( lots to do locally including numerous family orientated attractions, plenty of sporty things like mountain biking and paddleboarding or kayaking to interest active older children , major sports events in Cardiff. Geocaching and the WiFi , are hits with teens!) . We have infant eqipment free of charge too.
We welcome many walkers ( every walk from easy lanes to canalside to open mountain within reach within about an hour as well as magnificent choices from the doorstep ). Dogs love it!
Heating, linen and towels, WiFi and lots more included. EV charger and cycle store on site.
We have ample gated parking and the rear garden is fenced for children and pets ( front garden unfenced due to the view)
The cottage directly adjoins the Wye Valley Walk, and the Monmouthshire Way, is in sight of Offas Dyke, is in the heart of the ancient conservation area of Tintern and there are several pubs, a couple of small cafes and two busy hotels in easy strolling distance -all offering food and several featuring local produce. The village even has a prizewinning vineyard and a microbrewery both open to visitors! Also in the village are a craft centre and vintage book shop. Lots goes on at the Village Hall including film nights and a monthy produce market. There is a small village store which has most daily necessities. There’s a bus stop at the bottom of our drive so you could walk along the wonderful Wye Valley, visit Chepstow Castle or Racecourse and get a bus back .

Importantly, we are walking distance of the Church ( the functioning one) plus the Old Station with wedding licences – so ideal for the bridal party to stay or for wedding guests.

The three bedrooms can each be configured as a 6 foot superking bed or a pair of twin beds.
The two sparkling bathrooms both have monsoon headed showers over the bath and the upstairs bath is also a spa bath.
Up stairs there are two bedrooms with a bathroom located between them.
Downstairs there is one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.

Our sitting room has squishy sofas and a woodburner.
All bedrooms , kitchen and sitting room have TVs and there is a bluetooth speaker for your phone.
If you need a landline phone we can set one up for you but most mobiles work well.

The cottage is pet friendly, as is the whole village ,and the village is a popular tourist destination ,Particularly in summer it is busy with everything from morris dancers and folk bands to cricket matches, coach tours, festivals, music, weddings and numerous other events taking place. Its nevertheless surprising that when the closing bell rings at the Abbey peace returns.

Throughout December the cottage is decorated and at Christmas itself a fresh local fir tree comes in!

The village has lovely artisan shops and a fantastic pub with good food. Also a great spot to watch the local cricket teams! We highly recommend the cottage and will retun. Our third stay at Tintern Abbey Cottage

By Gary Woodruff on 02-May-2025

Many thanks again for allowing us to enjoy your lovely cottage. We keep forgetting that the shops and most cafes shut in Tintern on a Tuesday excepth The White Monk and The anchor, just so that her visitors to the cottage are aware. But, many good walks. Thank you The Woodruffs.

Great character cottage with a superb view

By Stuart Wilson on 18-Apr-2025

We’ve had a lovely week here- it’s a great location with a super view of The Abbey We can highly recommend the pub food (Anchor) the breakfast at the White Monk Cafe. All very friendly and Tintern has good facilities and great walks A trek up to the Devils Pulpit is well worth it for the view Most things are a 20-30 minutes drive -canoeing the Wye is recommended as a day out and we also enjoyed Monmouth and the Sculpture Trail Lovely cottage, great character and a super relaxing stay! Thank you Jo, Stuart and Fraser Wilson
