Overview
Description
La Maison Marguerite is a lovely three-bedroom, south-facing home, just an easy walk from the historic centre of Uzès. It is both our much-loved family house and a carefully managed holiday let for the summer months, and we are delighted to welcome guests who will enjoy it as a home rather than simply a rental. The house has an open-plan sitting and dining room that opens directly onto a covered terrace and pool area, making indoor and outdoor living wonderfully easy. Whether you’re enjoying a relaxed breakfast, a long lunch, or an evening glass of wine, the terrace is a real highlight.
The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and everything we find useful for relaxed, sociable cooking — very much a “home from home.” French doors lead straight onto the covered terrace, which comfortably seats up to six people and looks out over the swimming pool.
On the ground floor there is a generous bedroom with a separate WC and bathroom featuring both a freestanding bath and a shower. This layout works particularly well for couples or for guests who prefer not to use stairs.
Upstairs you’ll find two further bedrooms. The main double bedroom has shared use of a bathroom (with the third bedroom) and a private balcony — perfect for a few quiet moments with a book or a coffee. The third bedroom is arranged as a large double but can also be set up as twin beds if preferred. It overlooks the pool and enjoys views towards Uzès, with French doors opening onto a lovely balcony with fantastic scenery. A table, chairs, additional sun-loungers and sofa are also provided.
There are televisions in the bedrooms upstairs as well as one in the sitting room. You are able to connect to your own netflix accounts etc. Please log out when you leave. However we also bring our firestick as otherwise you get French Prime. I hope you will be too busy to even watch the television!
The house is south-facing, so it benefits from sunshine throughout the day. When you want a little shade, the covered terrace provides a cool and comfortable space while still enjoying the outdoors. The swimming pool measures 9m x 4.5m (not suitable for diving) and is enclosed by a wall and security fencing. For safety reasons, we ask that all children staying at the house are able to swim. A BBQ and table tennis table are also provided for guests’ enjoyment.
About the area
Uzès is often described as a hidden gem of the South of France. Located around 20 miles west of Avignon, it is close to the Pont du Gard — a wonderful spot for canoeing and exploring. Montpellier, with its beaches, is within reach, and the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes is well worth a visit. Wine lovers will enjoy a trip to Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Uzès itself is lively and welcoming, with a famous food market every Wednesday and a large market on Saturdays. There is always something going on, and the town offers an excellent choice of cafés and restaurants — we have never been disappointed. Other nearby places worth exploring include Avignon, Orange and Nîmes. There is truly so much to see and do that you may find yourself wanting to return. We leave local information at the house, and the Uzès tourist office is also extremely helpful.

Leave ReviewLovely family house in Uzes
By Caroline on 11-Jul-2025This is a perfect location for being close to Uzes but tucked away in a quiet spot. The house is very well equipped and comfortable with plenty of indoor space. The roof terrace has beautiful views across open countryside and Uzes . Much thought has been given to well furnished outdoor spaces with two generous covered terraces with tables and loungers poolside. Uzes has a wealth of good cafes and wine bars and the vibrant local Saturday market is a great experience. The Pont du Gard is nearby and is a fascinating place to visit. We had a fabulous holiday and the owners are lovely to deal with.
Relaxing Stay
By J and P on 15-Jul-2024June/July 2024. We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing two week stay here. Maison Marguerite has something for everyone - the house is light and spacious: we enjoyed sunny breakfasts and evening meals on the upstairs terrace as well as the stunning views! The downstairs terrace was a welcome shady spot for eating lunch then relaxing and reading during the heat of the day. The pool is very refreshing and large enough for a proper swim if you are so inclined. An extremely well-equipped kitchen made it very easy to self-cater for some of the time. Although in a quiet residential area, the house is well-situated for walking into Uzes and a well-stocked small supermarket and boulangerie are a short walk away. Uzes is a unique and beautiful town to stroll around, there are great cafes and restaurants and the local markets are an unmissable experience. We enjoyed exploring the area with trips to St Quentin de la Poterie, the Pont du Gard and to Nîmes by bus. Penny is a super host and communication was excellent throughout, can highly recommend!
Home away from Home
By The Chisnall family on 14-Aug-2023La Maison Marguerite has everything - and we mean everything. It’s a proper home away from home and you’ll feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. There''s no coldness of an AirBnB, there''s warmth and a want for you to enjoy your holiday in a beautiful French home. We were with our two boys and they moaned every time we suggested a day trip to Nimes and Avignon (we still went) because the pool, the table tennis table and grounds are so lovely. They tried their best to introduce locals to cricket shouts... The terrace upstairs topped it all off for us. A stunning place to read a book in the morning and a glass of wine at night. We had never heard of Uzes when we booked and it was a town that kept on giving. Granted we visited when it was festival time but it''s a friendly, dynamic place steeped in history with great food, wine and even an ice-cream cafe that serves alcohol... We can''t wait to go back and there''s only one place we''d ideally like to stay...
Glorious Week
By Mr and Mrs B on 31-May-2023We had a glorious week in this very comfortable family home. There was everything we needed in the house and the pool is delightful. A lovely bakery is within walking distance for breakfast croissants and we often walked into Uzes which is an easy walk. Uzes is stunning. We visited the local sights including Pont Du Gard and it was a wonderful location for mixing up sightseeing and simply relaxing by the pool. We would be happy to return.
Best 2 Weeks
By Andersons on 16-Aug-2019We have had the best 2 weeks in your beautiful house, here in Uzes. We enjoyed many of the activities in the surrounding area and would definitely recommend the Kayaking under the Pont du Gard! The house had everything you'd need and was a wonderful home away from home. The weather was very kind to us, meaning we made the most of the pool. Uzes is such a pretty town, and was only a short walk from the house. WE also recommend the town Barjac for a mooch round. Thank you for a lovely stay.
A wonderful month
By Carl and Betty Ann on 21-Jun-2019A wonderful month in a very pleasant house. Best place we have stayed in since the Villa St Victor closed. Penny and Marks thanks for sharing your little corner of Uzes with us. Nice to come "home" for a long stay. We will be back
