Description

Set in garden full of old olive trees and specimen trees, this lovely old house is an easy stroll into the heart of historic Vence with all its treasures. It is a quick 6 mile drive to the beach at Cagnes, and Nice is only 20 mins away, both have lovely proms. Villa Paradou is set in a gated domaine and has full use of the communal pools, gardens and play areas, in addition to its own secluded 16m long pool. It has English Satellite TV + DVD and stereo equipment. The house is approached via an electronic gate into the domaine. It has a very large private parking area. The house is entered through a carved wooden front door which opens into an impressive hallway with its Italian chandelier. The kitchen and living room lead off from this: another hallway leads to the main bedroom and bathroom and the guest loo. The staircase twists away up to the first floor where there are 2 further charming bedrooms and a landing that leads through to the second bathroom and the 4th bedroom.
There are fans in each bedroom. The central heating is oil-fired and very effective-though once again, we rarely use it in the day time as the sun pouring into the sitting room warms the whole house up even in the middle of winter. Awnings shade the living-room during the summer.
The house is ideal for children. The garden is enclosed and there is rarely any traffic moving around the domaine anyway. The communal pools and play areas are very close to the house and would be an ideal way for children to socialise with other youngsters staying in the surrounding properties.

Outside:
The garden has a large, very gently sloping lawn with specimen trees and shrubs which offer additional shade. The 16m pool is surrounded by a large sun terrace and has a cool, shady pool house. It is only 1.8m deep at its deepest, making it ideal for those who are less confident swimmers, while its length makes it ideal for those who like to do a 'workout'. There is a set of steps at one end of the pool so getting in and out is very easy for the old and young alike. The steps are an ideal area for small toddlers and small children to paddled and play. The pool also has a security fence around it to protect toddlers from entering the pool without adult supervision. This is a legal requirement in France. There is a barbecue(charcoal), sun loungers, chairs and tables are all available. There is also a pool and children's paddling pool on the domaine + table-tennis and children's playground.

Utility Room:
The washing machine is in the arched area under the house, making hanging out the washing in the garden very convenient.

Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service:
Towels and linen are supplied. There is a 80 euro charge for laundering these- price depends on party size. Maid service 100 euros for end of rental - potential supplement for longer term rentals or if pets etc have created excessive work.

Other:
Impressive hallway and staircase.
The stone built pool house is ideal for dining as it is cool and shaded even on the hottest sunny days.

Rates
There is a rates table which displays the rates for seasons.
Payment
We accept payment via bank transfer in euros to our French accounts the details of which we provide when you are ready to book. We require a 20% booking deposit and a 20% damages deposit which is refunded at the end of the rental period.

Additional Information regarding the properties location
Coast/Beach:
The beach at Cagnes is 6 miles away-we rarely miss an evening stroll along its lovely new prom. Nice is 20 mins away and Cannes takes about 30-40 mins. There are many other lovely spots along the coast, we love Villefranche and Golfe Juan. Of course Antibes and Juan les Pins are less than 20min away. Wherever you drive to from Vence, the scenery is stunning. Visit St Paul de Vence and Grasse. Or just drive up the mountain. Another day trip would be to Monte Carlo or San Remo over the border.

Travel:
Nice airport is about 15-20 mins away. We would definitely recommend a car, although friends have stayed here and used buses to go everywhere. We now go into Nice by bus as it's so cheap, easy and reliable.
If you drive from the UK it is very easy to get to Vence from the A8-10 mins. The house is on the approach to Vence from this direction and very easy to find. The great thing about Villa Paradou's location is that, being so close to the village, there is no need for a 'nominated driver'!

Distances:
The centre of the wonderful old bustling market town of Vence is only 500m away. The Cite Historic is absolutely charming. There are many restaurants, bars, food shops, clothes shops and a bi-weekly market. There are also many art galleries. Our favourite spot is the terrace of the Brasserie Victoire where you can sit and watch the Real Provence go by over a glass of Provencal rose.

Further Details:
There are many restaurants, bars, patisseries, butchers, grocers, supermarkets, hairdressers, banks, boutiques etc etc. Vence is a thriving community that, however, loses none of its village charm. You are just, literally, spoilt for choice.
We leave several travel guides in the bookshelves in the house, with details of so many places of interest it would not be possible to list them all here.

Family home with all facilities

An excellent traditional French house in a quiet area

C’est Manifique

By Peter Macfarlane on 03-Sep-2024

Lou Paradou-fulfilled all our dreams, aspirations, and plans during our 3 - week stay in August 2024. This is a special and spacious place for family and friends to gather and enjoy the beauty of the Villa and the privacy the surrounding grounds afford,. It is very well equipped with everything you need and has a beautiful full size pool that adults and children relished. This is our third visit to Vence over the years and has become a real favourite with family and friends-particularly Lou Paradou! There is much to do and see and is such an inspirational place to live, eat out and relax in the beauty of the whole area. Many thanks to Elizabeth and David for being excellent hosts both before and during our stay. With best wishes from Macfarlane family.

Fabulous stay in this peaceful, loved home

By Sarah Naxton on 18-Aug-2023

We had a fabulous time exploring this part of France, and that was definitely helped by having this wonderful home to base ourselves from. The region is just glorious with lots to do including gully bashing/rock caving, visiting medieval villages, history and of course lots of opportunities to swim. The house itself is very comfortable, is obviously well loved and has a lovely French charm to it. The pool was excellent and we spent hours in there. Its a great size and perfect for larger groups too. We walked into Vence every day for breakfast and dinner (don''t miss the almond craqalin - its incredible!) and although it is up a slight hill, its a super easy walk - absolutely no issue for younger kids too. The hosts were so kind, attentive and really helpful. They went out of their way to provide us with information about local bus routes and things to do, and were just all round lovely - thank you for helping make our stay really easy and that extra bit special. Le Clerc Supermarket was a 4 min drive away, and had everything you needed for self catering purposes. There is also a petrol station 1 min away. We would absolutely recommend this place, and would love to come back ourselves one day when we next visit this amazing part of France.

Family Summer Break

By Colin Hempseed on 31-Jul-2023

The location was very good and allowed walking into the town quite easily and also to access other villages was straight forward and in easy reach. The setting of the property was ideal for a family, with the play area and pools for the children and adults alike and lots of space for family barbeques and eating.

Villa i Vence

By Helge Pedersen on 08-Aug-2022

Fantastic family holiday in charming surroundings

By Joanna H on 05-Aug-2017

date of stay 7 July 2017 We enjoyed a great family holiday in this charming home. It really felt like a home, not just a holiday rental. It matched up to the photos and description very well, but was even more charming in real life. It is a very spacious house and as we were 9 people we had plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. There are so many options of where to enjoy the outside space - we had a yoga session on the lawn each morning whilst the kids played in the pool, and others had leisurely breakfast just above outside the kitchen under the olive tree. The trees and flowers were very beautiful all around the house. The pool is as described, a large rectangular shape so great for proper length swimming and easy for all ages to get in and out of. The sitting room is very large with many different areas to enjoy in it - tv watching, reading corner, large table and chairs. A very calming atmosphere and cool. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and in great quantities too! There were plenty of sun loungers/cushions/chairs and tables etc for our large group. We felt the house inside was shaded enough to not miss air conditioning. Personally I prefer no air conditioning where possible and the fans in the bedrooms were more than adequate. Just the kids room upstairs does require the air con - which was provided. The house is perfectly located in Vence too. It is great for going by car to discover the region as it is only 2 mins to the roundabout that leads to the coast or further inland to places like Paul de Vence or Grasse. It is only 5 mins drive to the large supermarket Leclerc which was perfect as we had BBQ nearly every night! And it is only a 5 minute walk to the free shuttle bus that can take you into town - for elderly guests or small children this was very convenient. Alternatively it is only a 10minute walk into town anyway. We went in to Vence a few times but were much happier to have our meals at the house as we had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly. The house feels like it has been lived in like a home, with character and decoration throughout. Personally I prefer this than a modern type villa with no personality. Also in relation to the price it is good value for money for this area and with the space all around and the pool, we couldn't have asked for more on our special family holiday!Response
