THE GITE

The gite has downstairs kitchen and shower room, with each master bedroom having its own sink. Each gite is fully equipped for self-catering accommodation, with cooker, microwave, crockery and cutlery and dining room. Your gite is also equipped with colour TV. The TV has FREEVIEW, so offers British channels like BBC etc. Facilities include outside Summer Kitchen, BBQ area and Heated Swimming Pool

We are on the outskirts of the village of Nieul sur l'Autise, with its famous Abbey so the French bread at the Boulengerie and a glass of wine at the Hotel are 5 minutes walk away!! We are ideally situated for the Forest at Mervent, La Rochelle, Futurscope at Poitiers and Puy du Fou towards Nantes. The Marais Poitevin/Green Venice is 15 minutes away offering boating/canoeing, as well as Fontenay le Comte 15 minutes

We have enjoyed playing badminton, table tennis and our games of boules even if Steve did win! ** We visited the square and used the little shop ** We went to Natur Zoo Mervent and had a lovely few hours seeing the animals ** We went to FA Restaurant Asiatique, Buffet Wok – all you can eat chinese Thanks for making us feel really welcome. Daisy age 9 This has been an incredible week – thank you both. A fabulous gite and pool, brilliant location and excellent hosts. Parc Pierre Brune is a great day out for kids, and Puy du Fou is a one of a kind experience! The Creperie in the village is also a great place for a meal out. Thanks so much Sam, Laura, Daisy and Ted

Superb location to discover the surrounding area, trips to La Tranche sur Mer, good restaurants and great beach. Coulon for the canal verte, wonderful suggestion to to hire a boat with a guide, some spoke English which was handy with my limited French. Puy du Fou, magical but you need two days to experience it fully. Futuroscope again within an hour on the Peage roads was another great day, a full day of fun. Didn’t experience Aquascope as it was fully booked, but looked good fun. Local lake was great for an afternoon with paddle boarding, canoeing and pedalos for hire. Local eateries very good, but have been advised always to book. Creperie was a lovely lunch, the hotel did a good evening meal. Bakery had a good selection. A fantastic stay – thanks again. A Wonderful Holiday
By Nick & Helen on 26-Jul-2025Staying at Steve’s gites was a great decision. The grounds are immaculate and the pool is superb. The gites have all necessities and are comfortable and well maintained. The opportunity to sit out in the sun and dine alfresco was a welcome pleasure added to by Steve’s great advice on wines and even offering some to taste from his collection. Overall my wife and I had a great, relaxing time whilst there and the weather played its part by not being too hot. Thoroughly recommend a stay here with or without children as all are welcome.
Can't fault the place.

The accommodation is everything you'd wish for, located perfectly to be nice and quiet but close enough to everything from days out to shopping for those holiday essentials and provisions and eating out. Steve was aways on hand with some helpful advice or a friendly chat and even some freshly picked food from the garden. The pool is stunning and just the right size to share between two families when both gites are occupied. A lovely week spent resting, swimming and recharging, sad to be going home but will definitely come back and stay.
You may see us next year if you behave!!
By Marc Wassall on 21-Aug-2022Scorchio!! Well, first week anyway. Second week a bit mixed but hasn't spoilt the trip once more. The hosts on form as usual on our 10th trip now. La Rochelle was lovely again and would recommend if you haven't visited before. It has a really nice 'vibe' Anyhow, super hol once again - super chilled. Thanks both - our very dear friends You may see us next year if you behave!!
