Description
On the outskirts of Vendres the house has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathroom, 2 WCs, kitchen & a large lounge/dining room.Outside there is a large terrace for outdoor eating with table & modular sofa for relaxing in the evening. A mature garden with figs & pomegranates. A gardener attends all year..
A 10m x 4m saline pool with cover. The water is really soft & easy on the skin/eyes, much nicer than chlorine & absolutely nothing like the sea! The cover keeps the pool clean & warm. It also extends the season. Pool/Beach towels provided.
Two downstairs bedrooms(1 twin & 1 kingsize), upstairs 3 bedrooms are a twin, double & kingsize. Sleeps 10 comfortably.
Travel cot & highchair available on request (need own linen).
Fans in the bedrooms; Beds have pocket sprung mattresses; wooden shutters on windows; double glazing; mosquito blinds if you want to keep windows open at night.
Linen provided includes bath, kitchen & beach/pool towels.
Large lounge/diner has an extending Oak table for 10, corner sofa, other chairs, coffee table etc. Reversible air-conditioning. Two patio doors to terrace.
There is a 42" LED TV with Amazon Firestick. UK and French channels are available, unfortunately the satellite no longer works in the south of France are available. Surround sound speaker for TV & music can be streamed via Bluetooth. DVD/Blueray player.
Fast fibre broadband.
The kitchen has an oven with mixed gas & electric hob. Dishwasher & Fridge/Freezer. Kettle, microwave, Nespresso machine. Plenty of crockery & cutlery for 10 people. Numerous pans, mussel/stock pot, casseroles, seafood accessories.
Oak kitchen table for 4-6 people. Patio doors to terrace for outdoor eating.
The village centre is a 5 min walk & has a mini supermarket(Vidal), 2 boulangeries open 7 days; pizzeria; hairdressers; tabac; post office; pharmacy; cafe/bar; a small traditional market.
There is also a new petrol station and Carrefour Supermarket on the roundabout on the entrance to the village about 400m away. This is extremely convenient.
Lots of cycle paths, particularly around the nature reserve of Vendres Etang. Ruins of an old Roman Temple of Venus and an Aqueduct. You can cycle to the beach in 15 mins by just going out the back of the house.
Valras has activities on all the time from music events, circus, go-karting, markets & local festivals. Large Carrefour in Serignan(open 7 days), Lidl & other shops. Valras is a vibrant town with a great holiday feel & a whole host of restaurants & shops. A market open every day of the year selling: coquillages, charcuterie, boulangerie, epsicerie.
Due to the prolonged drought in the south of France the garden has suffered in recent years. We have recently had extensive gardening undertaken to remove some dead shrubs and trees. We are moving to a more sustainable garden that is less reliant on watering. Also much of the invasive bamboo has been removed and beds have been replanted. To reflect this we have kept the rental prices unchanged.

By Paul Holmes on 04-Jan-2026We spent an amazing 4 weeks during August 2025 in this wonderful villa. From booking through to departure, working with Jon was easy with Jon being able to accommodate our needs. During our stay Jon and his local team were attentive and easily contactable, not that we had any issues during our stay. The Villa was perfect for us, we were a family of 4 plus two grandparents. The layout allowed grandparents to have the downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, whilst we had the 3 large bedrooms upstairs with our own family bathroom which gave us all our own space when needed. The main living room easily accommodated us all when needed, but with the weather as great as it was, we spent very little time indoors. Our visit coincided with a heat wave for a 3 of the 4 weeks and the Villa's facilities and pool meant we were able to "survive" with no real hardship with Air con on the main living area and plenty of fans for each of the bedrooms. We drove from the UK (which was easy, we split over 2 days, but if you wanted to, it could be done in a day) and parking 2 large cars was no issue with plenty of secure parking that didn't interfere with the gardens and pool area. The pool was perfect for us, following Jon's recommendation we kept the cover on overnight which meant the pool was always hot and ready to use. With small children, the pool and garden were used every day, we made extensive use of the swingball and pop-up net for badminton that was available. The villa's location meant that its no more than 5 mins drive to several beaches around Valaras, 7-10 mins to a retail park with a selection of large supermarkets and fast food outlets and an excellent local wine co-op cave. Several stunning old French villages and towns along the river all within 20 mins. On foot it's a less than a 5 min walk to the Carrefor Local (think of a larger Tesco express) and the small Vendres village center at the bottom of the road. Perfect home for a chill vacation
By Sara L. on 14-Jul-20195/5 Stayed Jun 2019 With the warm weather, blue skies, we spent a lot of time in the pool and had all meals outside. The house is a mini-paradise. The home and property is very clean. The pool area can be closed off at night, which makes it very safe with young kids. The hosts are very responsive. The lovely backyard, a patio, lounge area, bright flowers and grass makes it a dream to read, chat or play outside. While the town is pretty small, it still has a few good shops and a market a few days a week. We had a lovely holiday. Thank you! Published 14 Jul 2019
Very pleasant stay

Having the pool cover was super because you could be safe in the knowledge the children could roam freely and safely and they equally loved the pool - much swimming was done! Lovely large areas for enjoying meals and an evening drink and the area is excellently places for visits to Montpellier and Valras-Plage was a real treasure.
