Full of character, well equipped, relaxed

By Kirsty on 21-Aug-2017

Our whole family loved it here. The pool was great and everyone felt completely at home and relaxed. Tracy and her family were incredibly helpful and very welcoming. There is loads to do in the surrounding area - canoeing, night markets for lovely local food, treepark for the kids. But relaxing by the pool with a movie in the evening was just as fun. You can do as little or as much as you want to. We would love to come back!

Paradise in the sw France

By KATY H on 07-Aug-2017

We have spent holidays in the South West of France for over 20 years now and we have to rate this property as one of the best. The location was absolutely perfect; beautiful views and many different places to sit and sip wine and we loved being entertained by the family of red squirrels or the family's dogs (an optional facility - we'd recommend it!). The family was discretely on hand in case we had required any additional items (we did not, of course!), however we chose to chat to our lovely hosts and really enjoyed their company. The super little bastide was within walking distance and had various lovely eateries, and atmospheric places to have an aperitif and watch the world go by. This area has so many interesting and beautiful sites to visit for visitors of all ages, yet the gite offers great entertainment such as table tennis, boules, volley ball, trampoling and more, so if you need to recharge your batteries whilst keeping everybody happy, this is for you. Oh, and of course, what a beautiful, private pool to escape the heat. Would we recommend this property to others? Absolutely, however let us book again first...

A wonderful experience

By Benji on 15-Sep-2016

We had never visited this part of France before and were quickly enchanted by it's villages and countryside. The gite where we stayed was lovely, surrounded by gardens and 'play' areas. We stayed in the smaller of the gites and were happy with everything we found. The pool is great, we have two young children who would have been in it 24/7 if it wasn't for the towns, villages and castles that we chose to visit during our two week stay. Tracy and her parents were super friendly to us, and nothing was any trouble. We really appreciated the quietness of the place and were sad to leave. We are really looking forward to coming back next June. Would definitely recommend. :)Response

Holiday Paradise

By Les B on 10-Sep-2016

his was our seventh stay at these wonderful gites,so I think that says it all. Our family of four including two young children have holidayed all over France but as soon as we found the gites, that was it and now we are hooked. They are so quiet and secluded and are so child friendly. The pool is incredible with its own oak pavilion which is perfect for escaping the sun when it gets too hot.The gites are really cool inside and are absolutely spotless. The village is a 10 minute stroll down the lane and is beautiful. There are some beautiful attractions round about and canoeing down the dordogne is a must.Tracy and her family are so helpful and live just down the hill so are on hand if you need anything. Overall I can't rate this place any higher,so give this place a try and I promise you'll get hooked just like we did...see you soon Tracy!!

A wonderful stay

By Julie on 25-Aug-2016

The accommodation was perfect, with everything that you would need, it was very clean and very comfortable. The area offered many attractions and we spent time at the night markets, swimming in the river and hours in the pool! We could easily of spent more time here and we would definitely recommend this gite to others and do hope to return. The hosts were welcoming, informative and on hand if needed. A lovely holiday!

Our Perfect Family Holiday

By Willy on 20-Aug-2015

Our arrival at Le Chataignier was met with a very warm welcome from Tracy. The barn has been tastefully renovated providing lots of character with exposed beams and stonework, mixing the old with the new.The children had a great time in the play park whilst we relaxed in the hammocks under the trees. The pool was kept immaculately clean with a lovely oak pool pavilion if we needed the shade. The 10 minute stroll down the cool, tree-lined lane to the night market in Villefranche was a lovely way to spend an evening. There are so many places to visit in the surrounding area and all Tracy's help and information was very useful. A perfect host, making us feel so welcome throughout our stay. We would love to return again.

Home from Home

By Les B on 01-Aug-2015

This was our 5th stay at these wonderful Gites. From the moment we arrived to a warm welcome from Tracy and the kids,we went straight into chill mode. The accommodation is incredible and is immaculately clean. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need, the lounge is really spacious and stays so cool during those hot days, which is perfect when you've had a hard day by the pool.Speaking of the pool,it is just the most perfect place to relax, with its oak pavilion for when it gets a little too hot or if you fancy a spot of lunch. The overall grounds are so child friendly that you can completely relax knowing that they are safe. The kids spent many an hour in the play park playing table tennis and bouncing on the trampoline, while my wife and myself relaxed on the hammocks. There is a lovely seating area to the side of the Gite with its own barbecue which was well used by ourselves. The village is only a minutes drive along the lane but we preferred to walk with the kids. We went canoeing along the Dordogne which is so much fun,we took a picnic and spent the day just stopping a few times for a swim and a bite to eat. We have done lots of sightseeing on previous trips and there are some incredible places to visit,Domme,Sarlat,Roque de Gaegac and Monpazier to name just a few. The owners of the property live just down the hill and if you have any questions or need an idea for a day out they are so friendly. Overall,if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in an incredible setting, look no further and like us you will be drawn back to these wonderful Gites time and time again. Thanks again to Tracy and all the family for making our holidays unforgettable and see you soon.
