Inspired by the beautiful surrounding landscape in rural France, La Grange de Lavande was designed to make your visit truly unique.
The farmhouse was built in the 1850's and remodelled by the previous owner the former mayor of Doudrac. This year Karen, Nick and Hudson (our Red Fox Labrador) have put the finishing touches to this beautiful property making this their forever home.
We are pet friendly and would love you to bring your well behaved furry friends with you. Please contact us for more details regarding pets.
The Outside
Set in 17 acres of rolling French countryside, you will find yourselves surrounded by nature, and tranquillity. Whether you are taking a refreshing dip in our swimming pool; enjoying champagne in the hot tub; or dining alfresco, we have all of your outdoor and entertaining needs covered. We have 3 terrace areas where you can play table tennis, enjoy a chilled glass of wine and watch the beautiful sunset. Why not relax and enjoy our first night supper package which is freshly prepared for your arrival or fire up the BBQ.
Kitchen; Dining; and Living Space
The property offers a bright open sitting room which leads into the dining room, the dining room opens out on to the terrace.
The TV den has a large comfortable sofa and giant bean bag to ensure you relax whilst watching a family movie on the 75" TV. The TV den opens out on to a large terrace and garden.
The kitchen which is the heart of any family home is well equipped with everything you will need to create those fresh family meals, here you will also find the original fireplace which is still used in the winter months.
Our Bedrooms
La Grange De Lavande offers 6 stylish bedrooms
On the ground floor is the Super king with separate shower room and WC.
The second floor has 2 king rooms a double room and 2 single rooms.
All rooms have en suite shower rooms and separate WC.
Each room has a ceiling fan and hairdryers.
The Grounds
The property was originally built in the 1850's as a dairy farm, the original features are still present around the grounds. The original well which would have served the farm is still in working order, it is now used to water the garden. The barn still has the original cow feeding stations and water troughs.
Walking around the grounds you will find our beautiful pond which houses many different species of fish and lots of little frogs, you will also see our duck pond which is home to our Indian runner and Barbary ducklings.
There is a 15 acre field for those who like to walk or run, which is perfect for family games and gatherings. In the main field you will also find our chicken house which is home to our gorgeous chicks who are very cheeky and friendly.
Close to the Bastide town of Villereal you will find superb restaurant's and great local shopping. Villereal is also well known for it's 14th century market which is held every saturday and has never missed a day in the last 700 years. The 13th century church Notre Dame Villereal is definitely worth a visit. In July and August Villereal will host a night food market on a Monday night, well worth a visit.
The beautiful town of Issigeac is a 15 minute drive and has the best sunday market where you can purchase everything from local cheeses to roast chicken and potatoes ( our personal favourite) a panama hat and fresh local produce. In July and August Issigeac has a fantastic evening food market on a Thursday, definitely worth a visit for all you food lovers.
Monpazier, Monflanquin and Eymet all have fantastic markets on a Thursday, Eymet has great Brocantes you can peruse for a gift with a little French history.
Bergerac is a 25 minute drive, there you will find great shopping, if you have the chance to wander around the old town you will find the most beautiful buildings and statues.
A short drive and you will find great lakes for canoeing and paddle boarding, fishing and family picnics. Biron has a fantastic zip wire course which is great fun for all the family as well as frisbee golf and mini golf a good all round day out.
If you are looking for a little culture, 15 minutes away is chateau Biron a beautiful place steeped in history.
We are surrounded by some of the best vineyards in the region, wine tasting is a must, you will receive a warm welcome and offered free tasting.
For all you cyclists we have some pretty good cycle routes (so i'm told) ranging from 20-60km routes.
