The heart of the home is the stunning living space, where large windows frame the spectacular panorama like a living painting. Settle into the comfy sofas by the crackling wood-burning fire and simply watch the light change over the water. Adjacent, the elegant dining room, with its original wood flooring and dual-aspect windows, provides another stunning viewpoint.

The spacious, modern kitchen is well-equipped for everything from a simple breakfast to a celebratory feast, with wooden worktops, a double oven, and ample storage. When it’s time to retire, choose from the three beautifully presented bedrooms on the ground floor, two of which feature flexible zip-and-link beds, all sharing easy access to two pristine bathrooms—one with a walk-in shower and the other with a bath.

For a touch of true indulgence, a staircase leads down to the lower ground floor, revealing an enormous master bedroom sanctuary. This splendid room features its own dressing area, direct access to the garden via two patio doors, and views of the lake. The magnificent en-suite bathroom is a showstopper, complete with a large walk-in shower and a stunning freestanding egg-shaped bath, perfect for a luxurious soak after a day on the fells.

Outside, the established garden provides a private slice of paradise. Stone steps lead down to a lawn and a paved patio area. This is the perfect spot for a morning coffee while planning your adventures or an evening glass of wine, drinking in the splendid, peaceful views of Ullswater.

Located in the exclusive Watermillock area, Wreay Lodge is a spectacular stone-built retreat offering uninterrupted 180-degree views across Ullswater to the fells. On the ground floor, you will find a modern, well-equipped kitchen and utility room alongside three beautifully presented bedrooms. These include one fixed king and two flexible zip-and-link rooms, served by two pristine bathrooms—one with a walk-in shower and the other with a bath. The lower ground floor serves as a private sanctuary, comprising a snug with garden access and an enormous master suite. This master bedroom includes a dressing area, patio doors, and a magnificent en-suite with a freestanding egg-shaped bath and walk-in shower. Outside, the established garden offers a lawn and a paved patio with a brick barbecue, perfect for enjoying the peaceful scenery. Amenities include off-street parking for two cars, FTTP WiFi, and central heating. One well-behaved dog is welcome at GBP10.00, though please note the garden is enclosed by hedging, not a fence, and the master suite is accessed via internal wooden steps.

The area is rich with celebrated attractions. Just a short drive away is the magnificent Aira Force, a must-see National Trust waterfall cascading through a wooded ravine. From nearby Pooley Bridge, Aira Force or Glenridding, you can board one of the iconic Ullswater 'Steamers' for a spectacular cruise, hopping off to explore charming lakeside hamlets. For a grand day out, discover the romantic ruins and vast gardens of Lowther Castle or visit the historic Dalemain Mansion, a grand stately home with award-winning gardens.

While the house feels like a private sanctuary, it remains wonderfully connected. The charming village of Pooley Bridge, with its welcoming inns and independent shops, is just a few minutes away. For more significant amenities, the bustling market town of Penrith, with its supermarkets, castle ruins, and railway station, is within easy reach. The popular town of Keswick, the heart of the northern lakes, is also just a scenic drive away over the fells.

Changeover:
  • Occupancy: Wreay Lodge sleeps up to 8 guests.
  • Zip & Link Beds: Wreay Lodge features two zip-and-link beds. By default, one is a king-size double, and the other is a twin. Please use the special requests box when booking to let us know if you require them to be made up differently.
  • Pets: Two well-behaved dogs are permitted at an additional charge of GBP10.00 per dog per stay. Dogs are strictly not allowed on the furniture and must not be left unattended in the property under any circumstances. The garden area is enclosed by hedging only and is not escape-proof.
  • Accessibility: The house is accessible via two outside steps from the parking area to the side entrance door. Once inside, the main living areas and three bedrooms are located on the same level. Please note that Bedroom 4 (the main en-suite) is located on the lower ground floor and is accessible via a flight of 11 internal wooden steps. The rear garden is also accessible via 14 external stone steps, with a secure handrail on both sides.
  • Parking: Parking is available for up to 2 cars.
  • Heating: The property has central heating throughout, double-glazed windows, and a log burner in the living room. Please note: The open fire in the dining room is decorative only and cannot be used.
  • Garden/Barbecue: A purpose-built brick barbecue is available for guests to use. Situated on the patio, with garden furniture and views of Ullswater, it is fueled by charcoal or wood (not provided). 
  • Supplies: A complimentary starter supply of guest consumables (such as tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, hand soap, loo roll, etc.) is provided, along with a starter supply of wood and firelighters for the log-burner in the living room, usually sufficient for the first night. Linen and towels are also provided for guests.
  • Home Shopping Delivery: Available from all major supermarkets.
  • Connectivity: Good mobile reception is generally available, and complimentary FTTP WiFi is provided. Guests will need their own accounts to access the streaming services on the TVs.
  • EV Charging: Guests are not permitted to charge any electric vehicle or bicycle from the domestic sockets. The nearest EV charging facility is Rheged, approximately 6 miles away.
  • Smoking: Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is not permitted inside the property.
