Description
Island View is a generously-sized detached cottage tucked just five minutes away from the coast, with breath-taking views of Whitesands Bay, Ramsey Island and rugged Carn Llidi hill. The blue-flag award-winning Whitesands beach is a short 10 minute walk away, and is widely regarded as one of the best surfing beaches in Wales.The cottage sleeps up to 13 people in 5 bedrooms, so is ideal for groups of friends or families. The master bedroom features a super-king bed and has a view across Whitesands bay and Ramsey Island. The neighbouring triple room also boasts a super-king bed, as well as a single, and enjoys the same fabulous views. Towards the rear is a twin room (two single beds), and a king bedroom with ensuite shower. Looking across to the craggy slopes of Carn Llidi is the family-sized fifth bedroom with a king bed, and two single beds.
There is ample room to relax and socialise in Island View, with a large sitting-room, conservatory and dining room – all with sea views. Board games, WiFi and the 50” Smart TV with Apple connectivity provide the entertainment for quiet, cosy evenings in, and the dining room doubles as a great office space if you need to tuck yourself away and do a little working from home. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials you need to prepare a family feast. The utility room has a generous fridge-freezer, washing machine and dryer.
With a maximum of three steps to access all parts of the property, Island View is a great choice for family members of all ages, and is pet friendly.
The Exterior
Island View has a private car-park for up to 5-6 cars, and the large garden behind is very private with a lawned play area. In front of the conservatory and sitting-room with views across Whitesands bay is a large patio area with two picnic tables to enjoy alfresco dining.
The scenic and friendly St Davids City links golf club is a few minutes down the road, and welcomes visitors. Island View is also wonderfully situated for short walks to discover local gems like St David’s Head, Carn Llidi, St Justinian’s lifeboat station, the UK’s smallest cathedral city of St Davids, and two quieter sandy beaches of Porth Melgan and Porthlyski. Whitesands beach as already mentioned is a Blue Flag beach, with toilet and café facilities, and has lifeguards on duty throughout the summer months. During the quieter months (October – April) the beach is dog-friendly, and this is also when surfing is at its best.

The beds are comfy and there are lots of relaxing spaces in the house and the views over the sea are impressive. We enjoyed walking along the coast path from the house and down to the beach. The owner was very helpful and easy to get in touch with.

The views are amazing and the beach is great for digging surfing and playing. Lots of lovely walks in the area. The house is spacious and well equipped. The one and only problem we had was if all 3 showers were in use at the same time the water supply was a bit low but a small price to pay for such a lovely place.
Highly recommended for family holidays.

The beach is on the doorstep & fantastic for dog walks & surfing (boards & wetsuits can be hired at TYF St David’s) There’s the beautiful coastal path & Carn Llidi for hiking & running. The house is very comfortable & homely. We had 8 adults, a toddler & 2 dogs, there was plenty of room for everyone. There’s a well equipped kitchen & utility room. The beds are very comfortable & the whole house is warm & cosy if the weather turns wet & windy. The conservatory was great for the dogs to dry off. We enjoyed visiting nearby St David’s City & Dr Beynon’s Bug Farm. Highly recommended for family holidays.

By Michael on 10-Jan-2025We had a great holiday with family. The location was fantastic and we enjoyed many walks from the house, and the beach being just 15 mins walk away; it was perfect. This is a super location, ideally situated in countryside but close enough to explore all St David’s has to offer. It was wonderful to admire the superb view from the comforts of some bedrooms and excellent lounge.

By James on 10-May-2025We had a fantastic week staying at Island View - it met all our expectations and far exceeded them! The location, just a few minutes walk from Whitesands Beach, was great for regular trips to the beach, with great access to some stunning local walks. We loved clambering up to the top of Carn Llidi. The views from the property were stunning, with amazing sunsets over the sea. It's also only a short drive to St Davids (easily walkable too), with the beautiful Cathedral to enjoy. The house itself is spacious, with lots of beds, space to relax, a good-sized kitchen and a lovely patio area for sitting out in. The living room has plenty of seating, and a big TV too. All in all - a wonderful stay and we'd love to go back again another year!
