Description

Summer Haze Cottage is a cosy 3 bedroom character cottage situated in the quiet hamlet of Higher Warcombe, within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just 5-10 minute drive from the award winning sandy/surf beaches of Woolacombe and 15 minute stroll from the picturesque village of Lee Bay and its safe coves , good for rock pooling, snorkelling and kayaking or just relaxing.
The cottage is available for holiday rental throughout the year and is an ideal base for families, sports enthusiasts, walkers and golfers. The property has gated off-road parking, large sized garden with fenced play area with 3 swings, slide, play house, garden toys, garden furniture, outside lighting, BBQ, and fantastic countryside views and some sea views. On the ground floor the cottage has a fully fitted kitchen, sitting/dining room with wood burning stove, further free electric heating + character staircase, bathroom with bath/shower over and a double bedroom also on ground floor (convenient for the elderly). Upstairs are an additional 2 bedrooms - one large with a 4-poster double bed and a smaller L shaped children's bedroom with staggered bunk beds. Additional toilet and wash basin next to main bedroom.

Secluded coves: We are fortunate to live in a beautiful, protected and unspoilt Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) landscape of North Devon. There are unspoilt beaches and coves dotted along the coast from Saunton Beach to Lee Bay (within a 1-5 mile radius of the cottage), which can be reached via the coastal footpath and winding country lanes. Without the need to drive if desired . So, if you fancy the idea of possibly having one of the beaches/coves to yourself, such as Rockham Bay, Bennetts Mouth, Hillymouth or Sandy Cove, then this is quite possible.

Perfect place for staying with small children

By Sophy J on 19-Feb-2018

Really cosy winter stay with three children with everything set up for fun and safety with very young ones. Alan was very helpful with working the woodburner and the cottage warmed up nicely during very cold, wet windy weather. Beautiful countryside and beaches nearby with stunning walks to the sea from the cottage. Alan was there to meet us on arrival and let us in and readily available to answer queries during our stay. Would be amazing in the summer too and would definitely come back again at any time of year.

Clean, wonderfully quiet, peaceful and welcoming - everything you could look for.

A family run holiday cottage with a welcoming feel. The house has a restorative feeling such that it would be a challenge not to relax. If you relax too much there are multiple options for coffee making, including an advanced coffee espresso machine. The owner, Alan, is a fountain of knowledge for local coffees and excellent places to visit. There are no end of beautiful walks in every direction, so no need to take a car if you relax too much! Thank you Alan for creating such a great place.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country

By We stayed at Summer Haze cottage for 5 days last w on 05-Nov-2018

We stayed at Summer Haze cottage for 5 days last week, (Monday - Friday) The cottage was everything we had hoped for, peaceful location, great for exploring North Devon and only 5 mins from a coastal walk. Alan was very pleasant and helpful with places to go, the box of goodies was a nice touch as was the logs. The woodburner was an added bonus and made the cottage rally snuggly in the evenings. Dogs loved it. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would return tomoor if we could.

Lovely Cottage and location

By Chas B on 08-May-2019

We had a lovely stay at Summer Haze. It's a great location, just far enough not not hear traffic, but close enough to pop and get Fish and Chips. It's a great base for walking some of the beautiful surrounding countryside and exploring all of the coves and beaches nearby. Alan was on hand to give some welcome advice about where to go, what to see, with some fascinating tales of the local area, and a really interesting and friendly chap to chat with. It's a great cottage with everything we needed, and a fabulous welcome pack, which was well received. A smashing garden with an area for young (and slightly older) children to play, and an area for sitting out and BBQ. Views of the surrounding area were amazing. My wife's first comment was "Wow, the photos don't do this place justice". It's a lovely, charming cottage in a beautiful setting.

Perfect location, lovely cottage, very child friendly, fantastic enclosed garden for the dog

By Roger B on 09-May-2019

Had the perfect holiday at Summerhaze, came away totally relaxed! The cottage is ideal base for exploring the North Devon coast, left car and just walked for miles. Alan was a great host and an absolute mine of local information and so friendly (had many a chat ). Garden was ideal, had separate child area which granddaughter enjoyed and Logan our dobermann had a great time (he must have had a good time as had trouble getting him in the car when it was time to leave). The cottage has everything you could need. Mobile reception not great but that was a bonus as could chill out with family, log burner is a nice touch as evenings were a bit chilly. Would recommend the cottage especially if you have dogs as have stayed at other cottages who state they have enclosed gardens and when arrived are definitely not, our dobermann (a great escape artist) was well contained so another plus point for relaxation!

Absolutely fabulous holiday in unique beautiful cottage

By Tracey C. on 13-Jun-2019

Had a fabulous time. Both Alan and Gemma were fantastic and friendly and the welcome package of milk and various biscuits, cookies and wine (plus other things) was a wonderful surprise (although the kids didn't get a sniff of the shortbread, all mine!) The location was perfect for the area and both Alan and Gemma were very knowledgeable with recommendations for places to visit or eat. Nothing was too much trouble. I'll be booking again for next year as soon as I get paid. Thank you Alan and Gemma.
