Really cosy winter stay with three children with everything set up for fun and safety with very young ones. Alan was very helpful with working the woodburner and the cottage warmed up nicely during very cold, wet windy weather. Beautiful countryside and beaches nearby with stunning walks to the sea from the cottage. Alan was there to meet us on arrival and let us in and readily available to answer queries during our stay. Would be amazing in the summer too and would definitely come back again at any time of year.
A family run holiday cottage with a welcoming feel. The house has a restorative feeling such that it would be a challenge not to relax. If you relax too much there are multiple options for coffee making, including an advanced coffee espresso machine. The owner, Alan, is a fountain of knowledge for local coffees and excellent places to visit. There are no end of beautiful walks in every direction, so no need to take a car if you relax too much! Thank you Alan for creating such a great place.
We stayed at Summer Haze cottage for 5 days last week, (Monday - Friday) The cottage was everything we had hoped for, peaceful location, great for exploring North Devon and only 5 mins from a coastal walk. Alan was very pleasant and helpful with places to go, the box of goodies was a nice touch as was the logs. The woodburner was an added bonus and made the cottage rally snuggly in the evenings. Dogs loved it. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would return tomoor if we could.
We had a lovely stay at Summer Haze. It's a great location, just far enough not not hear traffic, but close enough to pop and get Fish and Chips. It's a great base for walking some of the beautiful surrounding countryside and exploring all of the coves and beaches nearby. Alan was on hand to give some welcome advice about where to go, what to see, with some fascinating tales of the local area, and a really interesting and friendly chap to chat with. It's a great cottage with everything we needed, and a fabulous welcome pack, which was well received. A smashing garden with an area for young (and slightly older) children to play, and an area for sitting out and BBQ. Views of the surrounding area were amazing. My wife's first comment was "Wow, the photos don't do this place justice". It's a lovely, charming cottage in a beautiful setting.
Had the perfect holiday at Summerhaze, came away totally relaxed! The cottage is ideal base for exploring the North Devon coast, left car and just walked for miles. Alan was a great host and an absolute mine of local information and so friendly (had many a chat ). Garden was ideal, had separate child area which granddaughter enjoyed and Logan our dobermann had a great time (he must have had a good time as had trouble getting him in the car when it was time to leave). The cottage has everything you could need. Mobile reception not great but that was a bonus as could chill out with family, log burner is a nice touch as evenings were a bit chilly. Would recommend the cottage especially if you have dogs as have stayed at other cottages who state they have enclosed gardens and when arrived are definitely not, our dobermann (a great escape artist) was well contained so another plus point for relaxation!
Had a fabulous time. Both Alan and Gemma were fantastic and friendly and the welcome package of milk and various biscuits, cookies and wine (plus other things) was a wonderful surprise (although the kids didn't get a sniff of the shortbread, all mine!) The location was perfect for the area and both Alan and Gemma were very knowledgeable with recommendations for places to visit or eat. Nothing was too much trouble. I'll be booking again for next year as soon as I get paid. Thank you Alan and Gemma.
