We have just got back from a wonderful 2 week stay at Top House. It was everything and more that we expected. It felt like home from day one and certainly a place you can switch off from everything. The food and drink that Carola and Oz left us was amazing. With that and things already in the villa you will want for nothing. The pool was the best I have ever had at a villa and always beautiful and clean thanks to Oz. We loved Hoots restaurant which is a short walk from the villa and would highly recommend it. We would love to come back one day. Thank you Carola and Oz for a super holiday.
We stayed in Top House in March 2023 as friends of Carola and Oz prior to the holiday season opening. Top House is a lovely two bedroomed large villa with two bathrooms. We stayed in the master bedroom overlooking the pool area in a lovely four poster bed. The room had lots of wardrobe and storage space and aircon for the warmer months. We love to spend time outside and the wrap around terrace means you can sit in the sun at various times of the day but there is also shade whenever you need it. There are walks into the mountains literally from the doorstep and the spring time is beautiful and green. Refurbishments this year are largely focussed around the pool terrace area that has a new stone seating area and is being planted, just beyond the pool, with olive trees. The house has its own parking and the village has a bistro, a Turkish cafe and vineyard with wine bar for eating and drinking. This is in my top three places to stay with Ilgaz Holidays and we look forward to visiting again. (Nicky and Andy - Travel Bloggers with Retired and Inspired 2020)
We first stayed at Top House in 2019 - our last holiday abroad before Covid - and now back from a second stay which proved just as wonderful if not more so. As before, with all transfers and car hire pre-arranged via Carola and Oz (who are simply the best of hosts), there was the welcome pack of wine and food awaiting us, the well-appointed villa as ever homely and comfortable with all mod cons including AC and excellent Wi-Fi, not to mention a meticulously maintained 8 metre pool awaiting our first magical dip! If you want to drop out and be lulled by the sound of cicadas and the scent of pine while enjoying the simple secluded pleasures of swimming and sunshine, reading and relaxing, of dining in the villa''''s secluded colonnade while gazing down over the tiled roofs of Ilgaz to the sea below, this is the place for you. The topmost part of Ilgaz, where Top House is situated, retains much of its original character and charm, with a busy Turkish cafe offering stunning views and breakfasts of enormous proportion and variety, while, set in what was the village bakery, Hoots restaurant proved a delightful place to dine, and both are highly recommended. Along the busy coastal road, supermarkets and restaurants abound while safe swimming is to be had at various municipality beaches (crowded but friendly and fun). In short: utter, utter bliss! Highly recommended. 5 stars and more!
