Description

Three minutes walk from the centre of the delightful 19th Century spa village of Saint Gervais les Bains is this 30 year old detached chalet which has been fully renovated to provide a contemporary but comfortable home.

The chalet which uses much traditional wood to provide the Alpine ‘feel’ also benefits from modern communication systems such as Wireless Broadband and modern audio visual entertainment throughout. The satellite television provides access to the usual UK satellite channels. Swimming pool in summer and clear mountain air combine to provide the tonic you need. 50 minutes from Geneva Airport, 7 minutes from ski lifts to Megeve-Saint Gervais ski domain, 15 minutes from Chamonix. 1 minute walk from Tramway du Mont Blanc providing direct access to Les Houches, Mont Blanc mountaineering, Tour du Mont Blanc and paragliding take off sites.

Notes on accommodation: The chalet has underfloor heating which is very effective. Because the chalet is laid out over four floors and has balconies and a swimming pool it is best suited to adults and older children. Our young nephews and nieces have had a super time here summer and winter but the under 5's obviously required more supervision from adults. Outside, Summer: The outside living space is fantastic. A patio with decking surrounds the pool and has fabulous views of the Aravis chain of mountains on the other side of the valley. Barbeque'ing is very special and at night the patio is lit with outdoor lighting. The pool is about 30 feet long and is heated in Summer to in excess of 26 degrees Celsius. There are outdoor tables, chairs and sun loungers. There is parking for up to three cars to the side of the drive. Utility Room: In the garage: includes sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. Space for clothes drying and hanging. Ski and boot storage in ample garage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fully laundered cotton bedlinen and towels are included in the price. Reasonable chalet cleaning at the end of your stay is also included. Any other arrangements can be discussed on an individual basis. Other: Second living room in basement lends itself to evening and night-time use and has a high quality audio visual system. Contemporary and 'moody' it is a great place to unwind after the day. Sofas, chairs and wine fridge. Sauna comfortable for four.

Travel:
The nearest airport is Geneva which is well served with budget airlines from regional airports as well as scheduled airlines from the major UK and European airports. Geneva is 50 minutes by car and transfers are easily arranged with a number of taxi and airport transfer companies operating in the Alps. Other ways of arriving are TGV/snow train to Annecy (50 minutes away), flights to Lyon or Grenoble (less than 2 hours away). Car not essential.
Distances:
Distance to Saint Gervais 300 metres, Megeve 5 miles, Les Contamines 5 miles, Chamonix 10 miles, Courmayeur 25 miles, Geneva 45 miles, Annecy 45 miles.

Further Details:
Located in the French northern Alps and situated at the feet of Mont Blanc, St Gervais has stunning scenery and a wide variety of things to do.
Saint Gervais is a beautiful Savoyard village with a friendly atmosphere. It is home to Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc and has been a popular holiday destination for over a hundred years. There are a number of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and every Thursday morning there is a market and the village's main square is a hive of activity.
The towns of Megeve and Chamonix are just a 20 minute drive away should you wish to explore a little further.
St Gervais has a huge number of activities on offer. It is popular with walkers and cyclists in the summer - it is one of the starting points for the Tour du Mont Blanc. In winter Saint Gervais has a large ski area (over 440 km) which links to nearby Megeve. The Mont Blanc Tramway can be taken from Saint Gervais to the Bellevue plateau (1800m) or the Prarion giving skiers access to the Les Houches ski area in winter. Or it can be taken by walkers or those just wishing to see the wonderful panorama in winter or summer. For those who would like to relax a little St Gervais's famous thermal parc offers complementary therapies and massage.
The village also has a brand new indoor/outdoor pool complex with a 25m pool, a play pool, a paddling pool, an outdoor pool, a sauna and hammam. Also in the village is an olympic sized ice rink, clay tennis courts (with international tennis tournament in June) and
a great mini-golf course. Mountain bikes are easy to hire in the town too.
In summer the summer activity pass costs around 100 euros for a family of 4 or 5 for a week and gives access to the swimming pool, mini-golf, cable cars and activities at the leisure park in nearby Les Contamines

Fabulous stay in a beautiful chalet

By Tash on 28-Dec-2022

We had the most amazing stay in Melanie’s beautiful chalet. The chalet was wonderfully clean and prepared for our stay. Melanie was extremely helpful and efficient throughout the whole booking process and was very flexible and kept in touch to ensure everything went smoothly. We can’t recommend this chalet enough, a must if you are heading to Saint Gervais! We will be back! Thank you!

Great Summer Holiday

By CJM on 14-Aug-2022

This is a lovely chalet in a great location. The chalet was clean and very comfortable, with plenty of room for the six of us. Melanie was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any queries. We all enjoyed the pool and sitting on the terrace in the sun, watching the paragliders in the sky and we will miss the view of the mountains whilst drinking tea on the balcony. The cinema room was great for an evening movie together and I know the teenagers appreciated the WI-FI! There is so much to see and do in the area. St. Gervais is a pretty town which has everything you need, plenty of restaurants, bakers a couple of small supermarkets, tourist information etc. A cable car is a short walk away offering access to great walks and views (and ski runs in the winter). We had a fantastic trip on the Mont Blanc Tram, which is a 5 minute walk down the road, the views of the mountains are awe-inspiring. We also enjoyed visiting Chamonix and Megeve, the children had fun on the luge in Megeve! We were lucky enough to enjoy two weeks holiday here and we felt sad to be leaving, there is definitely more that we could do, see and explore. I hope that we might be able to return one day, maybe I’ll try the paragliding next time!? Many thanks Melanie and Chris.

Summer holiday with family of 5

By Mrs Sewart on 06-Aug-2022

Absolutely first class holiday chalet in a stunning location. Easy to find, lots of space for parking and 5 minutes walk into St. Gervais with it’s numerous restaurants and cafes. The chalet is over 4 floors, beautifully presented and extremely well equipped. We were blessed with sunshine all week so used the pool every day and ate on the terrace at the back of the pool every night whilst the sun set. The whole chalet was lovely and clean and tidy, the beds very comfortable and the bathrooms luxurious. There is a very handy and secure garage for storage of bikes/ camping gear ( we had just been camping for a week). The chalet also has a sauna ( we didn’t need this but would be great in winter), and a fantastic cinema room. And there is a Sonos system running right through the property. Melanie responds to any questions immediately and is a very helpful hostess. One of the best holiday chalets we have stayed in.
