Description
"Cova do Coração" (Cave of the Heart) is a deliciously romantic 4 bedroom whitewashed farmhouse which nestles among the serene hills of Portugal’s Eastern Algarve close to the charming seaside towns of Tavira and Olhao. Framed by tropical gardens with fruits and grasses, laze away your time either in the hammock on the terrace or by the large private pool with pretty sun loungers….. in the evening, you can cook up a storm with our outdoor kitchen or handy BBQ and dine under the stars. Although wonderfully secluded, one of your neighbours is a beekeeper who harvests her own honey!Inside, discover high beamed ceilings, spacious rooms and a curated collection of fine furniture. Each of the 4 double bedrooms (all en-suite and each with zip and link beds) have original tiled floors handmade by a local artisan, and colourful hand printed throws. The 4 pretty en-suite bathrooms have been designed in harmony with their surroundings. Egyptian cotton bedding and spoiling toiletries are there for your comfort. Whilst staying with us you can enjoy a yoga class on the shala or, for a treat, hire our local chef. There is a jacuzzi but only for winter stays and at an additional cost.
With its unspoiled golden beaches, charming fishing villages, and rolling hillsides dotted with almond and olive trees, you can immerse yourself in authentic local life, savouring fresh seafood in traditional tavernas, exploring historic towns like Tavira (on the doorstop) or discovering hidden coves. Take a trip into Loulé for the Saturday market (best to get there early) and you can take your pick of the freshest fish and seafood plus fabulous salad ingredients, cheeses, charcuterie, local honey, artisan gins and excellent Portuguese wine – try the slightly fizzy Vinho Verde which is refreshing in the heat and quite light. Our local town of St Catarina is only 7 minutes away with its choice of restaurants. Watch the artisans at work still making traditional tiles by hand.
The Eastern Algarve is the perfect backdrop to your holiday with it's deep sense of serenity, rich history and culture.

We had a pleasant and relaxing stay at her house, as it is located in the countryside, far from the noise and hustle of the city. It's the perfect place to disconnect from the stresses of daily life. A cozy house tastefully decorated. The pool and barbecue area are also comfortable and well-maintained. We would definitely stay there again.
Ideal Place to spend time with the family

Spacious house, very well decorated, clean and organized. The photographs correspond exactly to reality.

The beds are incredibly cozy, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the swimming pool is absolutely beautiful. The surrounding hills are ideal for scenic hikes, and the kind, welcoming Portuguese farming neighbors add a truly authentic touch. The gardens are lovely, the house has a peaceful, grounded feel, and to top it off, it’s also a short 20 mins drive from some stunning beaches. Huge thanks to Giselle, a truly wonderful host. I can’t wait to return with my family next year!

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Algarve hinterland and ideally located for a variety of activities. Whether you're looking for relaxing days on the extensive estate, hiking or trail runs in the Serra, or excursions to the fantastic beaches and charming towns in the area, everything is possible here. We were two families with two children each and enjoyed every single day to the fullest. You can feel in every detail how much love Giselle has put into the design of this special place. Nothing is missing, and from the first moment you feel welcome and at home. Communication with Giselle was warm and uncomplicated, a big thank you for that! We love Cova and are already looking forward to seeing you again!
The house is perfect for a family vacation

The kitchen, bathrooms, and the rest of the home were well-equipped with everything we needed to feel right at home. Everything was spotless, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. The pool and outdoor area are gorgeous, and the view of the mountains is simply breathtaking. Although Giselle wasn’t there during our stay, she was always reachable and made sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed. Her neighbor welcomed us and was also very kind. If life allows, we would love to return. The house is perfect for a family vacation with a larger group. Thank you so much for everything, Giselle!

Giselle was a wonderful host - warm, attentive and genuinely invested in making sure our stay was as good as it could possibly be. Communication was thoughtful without ever being intrusive, and it was clear she really cares about the place and the people who stay there. The house itself is beautifully restored - stylish but simple, understated rather than showy, and incredibly comfortable and warm. Everything feels considered and calm. The surrounding land has been curated with the same care, making it a joy just to wander and sit quietly. Although it wasn’t quite the right time of year for the pool, the setting more than made up for it - the night sky was absolutely stunning. This would be perfect as a yoga or wellbeing retreat in spring, summer or autumn, and ideal if you’re looking to properly switch off and be away from it all. We’d return without hesitation and hope to do so at a different time of year.
