Description
Villa 103 enjoys one of the best positions on the resort. The views are wide open but the poolside remains a very private place, perfect for those lazy days in the sun. Comfortable sun beds and the swaying fronds of the palm trees in the surrounding garden just add to that feeling of sensuous relaxation. Inside, the villa is very spacious and beautifully appointed with all you need to feel at home on your holiday. From every window of every room, the house commands a view, down to the sea and surrounding countryside, which is quite simply breathtaking. Due to its location in a National Park, this area of the Algarve has remained very unspoilt by tourism - a wonderful secret. Guests have access to golf at 40% off green fees, tennis, a luxurious spa, gorgeous beaches and charming fishing villages. For nightlife, there are the bars and restaurants in the nearby village of Salema, or, a little further afield and with greater choice, those to be found in the historic walled city of Lagos. This destination offers something for all the family to discover and enjoy!Inside the villa, the main living spaces are open plan and located on the first floor; from lounge with extensive seating, satellite TV, BluRay and speakers, through to the dining room with seating for up to ten. Both rooms enjoy unparalleled views from French windows which lead out to the first floor terracing. The dining area leads to the well-appointed kitchen with American-style fridge, from which there is direct access to a covered outside dining terrace with built-in barbecue, also with spectacular views. All four bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with air conditioning and direct access to the pool terrace. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower and there is a spacious family bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, there is a separate guest toilet and outside, there is a poolside toilet and shower. The 9x4 metre pool is heated to a comfortable temperature and this is included in the rental price. Behind the villa, there is ample off-road parking for several cars. The well-tended gardens are a particular feature of this beautiful villa, providing a lovely backdrop to the private poolside experience. In short, this villa is very comfortable and ideal for a family gathering of up to eight, or perhaps two families wishing to share. Young children who cannot swim would require supervision around the private pool. However, the large, shallow toddler pool by the spa area provides a very good alternative for little ones.
The Western Algarve enjoys some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe. On the South coast you will find idyllic coves, with warm sands, ideal for the younger family. For teenagers, Luz beach is a popular destination with its water-sports, including water-skiing, jet skis and ringos. To the West, there are wide, sweeping beaches for the more adventurous and those who want to try their skills in the Atlantic surf. Amado beach has a surf school.
The resort, 'Santo Antonio' (still also known as 'Parque da Floresta' to locals) has a testing par 72, 18 hole golf course in an undulating setting. People can elect to play either 9 or 18 holes. Guests enjoy a 40% discount on green fees. Buggies and club hire are available as well as tuition at the separate driving range and golf academy. There are also many other golf courses in the Algarve, the nearest one being the championship course at Boavista, about a 10 minute drive away.
The resort also has four hard tennis courts with coaching available and there is a football academy run during the summer months. The luxury Spa Floresta offers pampering treatments and includes a gym as well as some classes, while the large communal pool is sited directly in front of it (although an extra charge is made to use it). The resort has one on-site restaurant as well as the Spike Bar in the club house, being the essential 19th hole. Beyond Parque da Floresta to the West is a protected National Park. This means that this area and its beautiful coast remain pristine.
Portugal is increasingly being seen as a great location for cycling - both road and mountain biking. There are lots of small roads away from the coast that are ideal for road cyclists as well as a great route up the West coast. For mountain bikers, there is a seemingly endless tract of wilderness dissected by many undulating trails. Bikes can be rented locally.

Fantastically appointed property with plenty of space for a large multi-generational family holiday. Close to some of the Algarve's best beaches, restaurants etc. Hoping to return next year. .
Stunning villa - excellent stay - highly recommend

The villa was comfortable and very well appointed, including plenty of pool and beach equipment. But most notable of all was the location and views, which were stunning. The pool was large and private , but the villa was also a short drive to both the south and west coast beaches. Communication was excellent and Peter was so helpful with many suggestions of places to visit. We have been to the Algarve many a time before but this was by far the best villa we have stayed in, and if given the opportunity, we would definitely stay again.
Beautiful Vistas
By Phil on 06-Aug-2024Fantastic private (not overlooked at all ) villa with stunning panoramic views, peaceful, great facilities, comfortable beds. Stayed August 2024, can be a windy location, but the curved wall around one end of the wall provided escape from breeze if required. Lots of lovely restaurants nearby in Salema and Budens. Only minor disappointment was the pool table, which is warped to the point it cannot be played...no big deal at all, as didn't book it for the pool table.
Wonderful Villa - Western Algarve
By Pete & Family on 16-Jul-2024Just returned from a fantastic 3 weeks at Villa 103. Brilliantly appointed home for a large family like ours with plenty of space both inside and out. Located very close to the beautiful Salema village and local beaches. Pool thoroughly enjoyed by the children on non beach days and the views from the sheltered outdoor dining/bbq area are spectacular. Whole family keen to return next year. Communication with the owner Peter was faultless.
Wonderful 2 weeks
By Family of 4 on 24-Jun-2024We had a fabulous time in Peter’s villa. We couldn’t fault anything - it is such a lovely villa and we used the bbq many an evening. The directions and self check in were easy, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment and basics, the pool was lovely and quite protected from the wind. We found amazing coffee spots in Lagos old town and in Sagres, loved exploring different beaches and had nothing but friendly service everywhere we went. We’ll be back!
A fantastic place to stay
By Gill on 02-Jul-2023Absolutely loved our family holiday whilst staying in this villa. The villa is spacious, well decorated and has everything you need. The outside gardens are breathtaking and the pool and pool side loungers are fantastic. The villa is on a golfing complex and our children were able to use the gym facilities, we had a go on the driving range and ate at the bar with views over the golf course. Peter was great providing us with lots of suggestions for places to visit and eat out. His instructions on how to get there were perfect in fact nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend staying here and booking with Peter. A few great places we found for eating out were Kisa in Lagos ( who do great Gluten Free pizzas and pasta) Also the Spice Cottage in Salema would highly recommend both. Overall a fantastic experience from initial enquiry to a wonderful holiday. Thank you!
