Description
This charming, large cottage-style villa is situated just above the village of Salema and has superb views of the sea and coastline all the way to Sagres and Cape St.Vincent. It is only about a five-minute walk down to the village and lovely sandy beach, but a bit longer on the way back! Salema is an attractive old fishing village with some local and tourist shops, a variety of local and other cafés and restaurants, and even a cash-point machine. There is a bank and chemist in Vila do Bispo, a short drive away, and Intermarché, a large food/supply supermarket is about 3 klms away near the resort of Golfe de Santo António (formerly Parque da Floresta). This established course has a driving range as well as the challenging 18-hole course, a bowling green, and tennis courts. Other amenities i.e. Spa/gym may be available. Riding stables at Almadena are about halfway on the road to Lagos, which is only about 16 kilometres distance. There is a bus service to Lagos but we consider a car to be essential at this villa. However, we have had visitors who wanted to hibernate without a car and we can arrange for a supermarket to deliver supplies to the villa.There is wheelchair access from the front terrace and into one of the bedrooms, a bathroom and through the servery to the kitchen.

The front door opens into a small hall, to the left of which is a locked linen cupboard and a cloakroom. The hall leads into the living/dining room; a feature is made by a small upper landing, which has a writing desk, and then steps lead down to the main part of the room. This pleasant room has comfortable seating, a slow-burning log stove for cooler spring or autumn evenings, a plasma TV and a DVD (bring your own DVDs). There are wide French doors leading out to a lovely part-covered terrace, which is equipped for outside dining and lounging. At the dining end of the main room, a door leads through a servery /bar corridor with a drinks fridge, to the fitted kitchen. Nicely tiled and well equipped with fridge plus freezer compartment, gas cooker, dishwasher and microwave oven. The kitchen has a back door to access the second bedroom and pool areas.
At the far end of the living room, a door opens into the main bedroom area. To the right there is a widened door to a twin-bedded room and ahead a widened door into a full bathroom, comprising a bathtub (with shower attachment), basin and loo. To the left, there is a second twin bedroom with a shower room en suite, (a shower cubicle, basin and loo). The second bedroom area is reached from a door beside the kitchen back door. This leads ahead to an attractive twin bedroom with French doors out to a patio and a shower room en-suite (shower, basin and loo). To the right down a flight of stairs is another twin bedroom, again with French doors to a more secluded terrace and its own full bathroom (bathtub with shower, basin and loo). There is a locked private cupboard.
Outside there are attractive terraces and a mature garden. There is a lovely swimming pool (10x5 metres) that has built-in steps and a hand rail for easy access and a children’s protection fence. There is a portable outdoor table tennis table, covered and stored outside near the garage; bats and balls are supplied. The pool is heated by a heat exchange unit and is included from 22nd March to 27th June and from 30th August to 1st November 2025, for 2026 dates see below. There is a modern pool cover on a solar-powered roller. If pool heating is required in the other seasons then an extra charge of £220 per week will be levied. The garage is not available for the client’s use, but there is plenty of parking space outside the villa.
SERVICES/FACILITIES
The villa has been inspected by the local Câmara and is confirmed as having the facilities for their national registration certification nº 25967/AL (Alojamento Local = Local Accommodation).
The villa is connected to mains water and electricity.
Water is heated by two electric water storage heaters.
Bottled gas is delivered, stored outside and piped into the villa for use in cooking.
There is a telephone for incoming calls and Wi-Fi is available. There is good reception for mobile phones.
There is a portable electric fan available for each bedroom.
The TV is connected via a special internet box to many BBC and ITV channels as well as the radio. There is a docking station.
There is also a DVD, so bring your own DVDs.
There is a small safe for your cash and passports (but please do not bring any valuables).
There is a portable charcoal Barbecue for use on the south facing terrace.
There is a portable outdoor table tennis table.
The access to the pool has a low fence and a small gate to protect the pool from toddlers but we still advise the utmost care with little ones and non-swimmers.
There is a weekly pool maintenance service.
The pool is heated by a heat exchange unit and there is a modern pool cover on a solar-powered roller. The cost of pool heating is included in the rent in the periods from 21st March to 26th June 2026 and from 29th August to 16th November 2026. A pre-heat costs £180. If pool heating is required in the period 27th June to 28th August 2026 it will cost £220 per week.
Beach/pool towels and a hair dryer are provided.
Babies are welcome: a travel cot and a high chair are available on request at no extra cost.
The housekeeper Dona Célia, comes for about 3½ - 4 hours 3 days a week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. At the end of each full week, the bed linen and towels will be changed.
D. Celia only works for 2 mornings a week in the off-season 1/11 – 21/3.
There is a washing machine in the garage for clients' use. (Please provide your own detergent).
The housekeeper also supervises work in the garden on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

By Deena Powell on 24-May-2025This was our second visit to Priscarosa. We were a party of 6 this last visit, sleeps 8 comfortably with lovely private accommodations. There are numerous oversized patios with ocean views that are truly mesmerizing. We enjoyed walking to numerous wonderful restaurants in Selma also prepared meals at Priscarosa’s well equipped kitchen eating in both large indoor and outdoor dining areas. Lounge by the beautiful heated pool or walk to the ocean, close to several fabulous golf courses and the best boating in nearby Lagos! We will be returning to Priscarosa hopefully for many, many years to come! A huge bonus, a lovely housekeeper cares for the home and does laundry during your entire stay. A+++ review!
Excellent villa in fantastic location
By Alyson Summerhill on 16-Aug-2025Casa Priscarosa has fabulous sea views and lots of space ideal for families the villa is so well equipped particularly the kitchen. The villa has so many places to sit and relax lots of different terraces if you want privacy, as we were on holiday as a family we spent most of our time on the covered veranda and of course the pool which was pristine a good size. Dona Celia kept the villa immaculate and it was a home away from home. What we really enjoyed was being able to walk into Salema village in 5 minutes and slightly more on the return as it is uphill and not in high heels ! Salema is a great spot with excellent restaurants and a fantastic beach we can't wait to return and are happy to give it 5 stars !

By The Spargo Family on 12-Jul-2025We stayed in April 2023 and said we would definitely return. We did and were just as happy with this villa as we were the first time. We had 2 grandsons with us this time aged 4 and 1 (almost 2). Casa Priscarosa is very safe for them. We had everything we could possibly need, including lots of toys in the garage to keep the boys occupied. The pool is a perfect size and because of the fabulous weather we spent hours in there keeping cool. Special mention for Celia for whom nothing is too much trouble. She keeps the villa, gardens and pool area spotless.. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Here’s to the next time!

Lovely villa, pool & village
By The Lanes on 11-Jun-2025We loved this villa, we’ve stayed at quite a few over the years and this was the best. The layout of the rooms gives space & privacy, the views are stunning, everything you could need is there, big pool with plenty of sunbeds, and an easy walk to the most beautiful beach. Everyone’s favourite spot was the sofas under the canopy, peaceful & sheltered. Recommend the Atabua bar for early evening drinks, very friendly owners & staff. Shout out to Rosemary, Nicola & Celia who were all really helpful. Looking forward to going back one day.

The nicest and homeliest villa...

The best view in Salema
By Ed Woodcock on 05-Jul-2024This villa is a gem. Built on an undeveloped hill behind the village, it has a stunning view of the sea. The terrace is a lovely place to read, dine, drink, and chat. Decor is homely and characterful, if a little dated in place. But you can tell a family has lovingly cherished it for years, with paintings of Salema before the other hill was developed. Celia, the house-keeper, is helpful and cheerful - she cooked us our first night's stew. Pool is great too - behind the house and sheltered. What with an easy walk to beach and the village below, in my view it's the best villa in Salema.
