My husband and I just returned from an epic stay at a beautiful home in Tuscany. I first rented from the owners in 2008 on Lake Como and was delighted to learn that they had purchased a home for rent in Tuscany. Their Tuscan home was spacious and as well appointed as their Como home. The living room is warm and comfortable, much larger than depicted in the pictures, and we enjoyed our evenings in front of the fireplace. The living room also has huge patio doors to let in the light from the garden and was perfect to relax and enjoy the Tuscan countryside. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of condiments and plates, pots and pans to really cook a nice Italian feast. The bed was nice and comfy with plenty of blankets and pillows, hence we returned from vacation also well rested. We were in Tuscany to attend the Benvenuto Brunello festival in Montalcino. The home was a short drive to the festival and in a very convenient location to the neighboring vineyards that we visited. The 5 star golf hotel, Castiglione Del Bosco, is close to the home and was perfect for my husband for a round of golf, and myself for a spa treatment. The Casale Hotel was great to walk to in the evening to enjoy dinner and a bottle of wine from their vineyard. The February temps were warmer than we expected, and we didn’t’ even require a coat given the warmth of the afternoon sun. The picture perfect postcard village of Buonconvento is a real hidden gem and is unspoiled from mass tourism, with all amenities we needed for our stay - restaurants, bars, cafe bars and a large supermarket. However we preferred to shop at the well-stocked local fruit and veg store, deli and butchers. It was really like stepping back in time and helped recharged our batteries from our busy life. We visited Pienza to purchase the famous pecorino cheese and enjoy the sunset during aperitivo . Radda in Chianti was our favorite village and we loved Bagno Vignoni for the spa which was boiling hot to dip our feet into even in late February! We also enjoyed Siena, a medieval city with the most beautiful piazza imaginable. We will definitely be back and have recommended the home to our friends. You will not be disappointed with a stay at this amazing Tuscan home.
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful home. I know you put a lot of effort into sharing nuggets with your guests that will help them have the most authentic experience - I can't tell you how much we appreciate that! Your thoughtfulness and help were unlike anything we've seen in renting (the wine, the day trip suggestions, the restaurant arrangements, the bocce balls, and on and on…). We had wonderful day trips to Orvieto, Sienna, Florence, biking in Chianti, etc., We visited Casale di Bibbiano on our last day, but only wish we had done that earlier in the week so that we could have taken a cooking class there!
As soon as we walked into the home were were very impressed with the spacious living area which opens into the garden and the charming typical Tuscan furnishings and furnishings. The home is located in an idyllic situation for people looking to relax in complete peace surrounded by beautiful trees. Yet in just few minutes driving we could easily reach the pretty village of Buonconvento which has an excellent selection of restaurant and wine bars with little shops, market etc like a village that time had forget but was all the better for it. A special thanks to Julie and Barrie.
