Description
Casa Joanna can be rented out as one whole with 6 en-suite bedrooms or two separate houses (Casa Joanna East and West) with their own staircases and 3 en-suite bedrooms. Each house has it's own front and back doors and outdoor terrace with view to the garden and beyond. The pool is salt water (11 m long by 5 m wide) with a bench running at one end under the mulberry trees. Perfect to sit under on a hot day. This is for exclusive use with a six bedroom rental. It can be heated upon request. We have air conditioning in all bedrooms. We are lucky to have spring water from our taps.Casa Joanna is situated in the charming traditional village of Vorno, famous for Royal families of the past who designed and built their summer villas in this tranquil, temperate village just south of Lucca (10 minutes drive) and north of Pisa Airport (30 minutes drive). Florence is 1 hour away. There are lovely beaches about 40 minutes away. Chosen for its beauty, the views of the rolling Tuscan hills and the ever so slightly cooler temperature in the summer. Today the village has three restaurants, church and a small cafe. There is an art gallery and theatre too. There is a regular bus service into Lucca. Grocery shops are located approximately 7 minutes away in Guomo. Located within the walls of Villa Vallentina, Casa Joanna has it's own private garden, separate entrance and parking. The school house was designed and constructed in a grand style well over a century ago. The 4 metre high ceilings on the piano terra give an open spacious feel to the rooms with a large chandeliers hanging from the brick-laid vaults. A terrace provide al fresco dining for guests, partly shaded by an old cherry tree and mulberry trees. The delightful garden of terracotta pots, fruit trees, local flowers and scented climbers of jasmine and honey suckle create a truly Tuscan feel. We have a vegetable patch where we grow organic tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, beans etc. Casa Joanna is full of art, books and games. The kitchens are well equipped. There is fibre optic broadband wi-fi available and amazon TV. Sleepeezee mattress made from natural fabrics (wool and cashmere) provide the ultimate sleep experience, providing coolness in summer and warmth in winter. The sheets are 400 cotton percale. This is the ultimate relaxing retreat to enjoy with friends and family. We strongly suggest that you hire a car for your stay with us. There is plentiful parking.
Roman is our house manager, who lives about 5 minutes away with his family. He is on hand to provide any help required. We have several chefs we use to prepare meals, cooking schools, cooking demonstrations (extra costs provided upon enquiry). Roman is happy to arrange transport from and to the airport (extra cost upon enquiry). We can arrange beauticians, and hairdressers if required (extra cost upon enquiry). Bikes can also be organised (extra cost upon enquiry). Roman is also a registered tour guide and will happily assist (extra cost upon enquiry). For all these extras, we do ask that you give us as much notice as is possible.

Wonderful stay!

Beautiful house and pool and plenty of room for our multi generational party of 8 including two guests under the age of 3. Roman was always available with any questions and we had chef Valentino come in one night and cook dinner for us which was amazing. Lucca is about a 12 minute drive away. If possible, don’t rent a large car as the roads in Vorno are tiny! 9/1/2022 at 10:49 AM
Wonderful stay
By Loorno Weir on 25-Jul-2022The villa was fantastic - so comfortable and well-equipped. The pool was great especially as the weather was very hot . There were lots of different areas for eating and relaxing both indoors and outdoors. The villa manager , Roman, was very helpful and quickly found and booked a restaurant in Lucca for us when we arrived at the restaurant we had booked only to find it was shut due to Covid. He provided a great taxi service when we needed it. We were a group of 11 consisting of a mix of ages, including a five and seven year old. The children agreed it was their best holiday ever. We would all definitely stay here again. Thank you Sarah and Roman for your brilliant hospitality .
Amazing stay, better than the photos

The communication with the hosts was great, the villa has everything you need and is in the most picturesque setting. It is a bit hard for drivers to find so we would ask them to come to the pizza restaurant nearby (which is also a great restaurant), but there''''s not always phone reception everywhere in the area so be wary of that when telling drivers/taxis where to meet. Otherwise, everything was so incredible, we loved every moment and can''''t wait to organize another trip back.

Tuscan Gem
By Johm Loshun on 29-Jul-2019We enjoyed our family vacation at this beautiful Tuscan villa in the village of Vorno. The manager Roman, went out of his way to make sure our needs were met. No detail was too small. There is 1 ristorante within walking distance named A. Bimbotto that we highly recommend. Unfortunately the other shops and services have recently closed so transportation is essential. Everything else is as advertised and we would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful villa in the Tuscan hillside.

The six bedroom eight bathroom Casa Johanna was perfect for our group of nine (we could have used more people actually!). Both Roman and Sarah made us feel very welcomed and the huge villa had all the amenities one could ask for. The pool was well used almost every day by our kids and the canopies and loungers were great! The grounds were immaculate with beautiful flowers and greenery. The 360 degree views of the Tuscan hills and the city lights of Lucca were amazing. The pictures, as one previous guest mentioned, do not do the place justice. We also loved the area and had a chance to explore. Peace and blissful quiet was just what we needed. Thank you very much for hosting us Roman and Sarah!!
