Casa Joanna can be rented out as one whole with 6 en-suite bedrooms or two separate houses (Casa Joanna East and West) with their own staircases and 3 en-suite bedrooms. Each house has it's own front and back doors and outdoor terrace with view to the garden and beyond. The pool is salt water (11 m long by 5 m wide) with a bench running at one end under the mulberry trees. Perfect to sit under on a hot day. This is for exclusive use with a six bedroom rental. It can be heated upon request. We have air conditioning in all bedrooms. We are lucky to have spring water from our taps.

Casa Joanna is situated in the charming traditional village of Vorno, famous for Royal families of the past who designed and built their summer villas in this tranquil, temperate village just south of Lucca (10 minutes drive) and north of Pisa Airport (30 minutes drive). Florence is 1 hour away. There are lovely beaches about 40 minutes away. Chosen for its beauty, the views of the rolling Tuscan hills and the ever so slightly cooler temperature in the summer. Today the village has three restaurants, church and a small cafe. There is an art gallery and theatre too. There is a regular bus service into Lucca. Grocery shops are located approximately 7 minutes away in Guomo. Located within the walls of Villa Vallentina, Casa Joanna has it's own private garden, separate entrance and parking. The school house was designed and constructed in a grand style well over a century ago. The 4 metre high ceilings on the piano terra give an open spacious feel to the rooms with a large chandeliers hanging from the brick-laid vaults. A terrace provide al fresco dining for guests, partly shaded by an old cherry tree and mulberry trees. The delightful garden of terracotta pots, fruit trees, local flowers and scented climbers of jasmine and honey suckle create a truly Tuscan feel. We have a vegetable patch where we grow organic tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, beans etc. Casa Joanna is full of art, books and games. The kitchens are well equipped. There is fibre optic broadband wi-fi available and amazon TV. Sleepeezee mattress made from natural fabrics (wool and cashmere) provide the ultimate sleep experience, providing coolness in summer and warmth in winter. The sheets are 400 cotton percale. This is the ultimate relaxing retreat to enjoy with friends and family. We strongly suggest that you hire a car for your stay with us. There is plentiful parking.

Roman is our house manager, who lives about 5 minutes away with his family. He is on hand to provide any help required. We have several chefs we use to prepare meals, cooking schools, cooking demonstrations (extra costs provided upon enquiry). Roman is happy to arrange transport from and to the airport (extra cost upon enquiry). We can arrange beauticians, and hairdressers if required (extra cost upon enquiry). Bikes can also be organised (extra cost upon enquiry). Roman is also a registered tour guide and will happily assist (extra cost upon enquiry). A Simply Stunning Property

By Craig H on 28-Aug-2018

Anonymous said... 25 Aug 2018 Totally terrific Tuscan splendour54 Via della Boccaccia, Capannori, Tuscany, 55012, Italy Date of Stay 4 Aug 2018 Our third trip to Casa Joanna, which is simply a stunning property that is very well maintained and cared for and offers a luxurious, spacious, and ‘warm’ environment to relax for the whole family. Every one loved the pool, the beautiful art and homely touches that make this home feel like your very own Tuscan retreat. Correspondence ahead of our stay was, as ever, timely and helpful. Contacted during our stay was courteous and helpful, and we can only say THANK YOU SARAH & ROMAN for your service and care. The local restaurants are fabulous, the local people are friendly and caring, and the local countryside (which I spent time exploring on an mountain bike, and my wife ran trails in the hills) is simply breath-taking. Cannot recommend this place enough! Until next year!

Amazing Tuscan Villa

By Dennis Z on 28-Aug-2018

A lovely property in a very quaint village!54 Via della Boccaccia, Capannori, Tuscany, 55012, Italy Date of Stay 11 May 2017 We had a party of 5 that thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the West side of Casa Joanna. The apartment looks even better than the photos can indicate. The bedrooms are all nicely sized and each has its own individual bathrooms. The master bathroom is particularly nice with 2 sinks, a ver nice shower, and soaking tub from which you view the forested hills outside of Vorno. The common space is very large open room with a huge table (that can seat more than a dozen people), a very nice kitchen and a seating area that has a comfortable couch and love seats. The kitchen has all of the equipment needed to cook whatever you'd like. It also has all of the utensils, plates, bowls, etc as well as glasses that you would ever need. When we arrived, there was milk in the fridge, coffee in the cabinet, and a loaf of fresh bread on the counter as well as fresh flowers in the bedrooms. The outdoor space is very nice and we used the pool and comfortable lounge chairs and ate most of our meals out side under the canopy. The owners happened to be staying in the east side of the villa. They were very respectful, warm and helpful hosts. The property manager was responsive and very helpful. One thing to note is that the deposit and rental payments are paid via wire transfers. In my case, that added $100 to the cost of the stay. It was still worthwhile but something to be aware of. Vorno is a very quaint town with nice amenities. There is a very good restaurant called Bimbotta just a couple of blocks away. It bills itself as a pizza restaurant but actually has a much broader menu including pasta and meats. Also 2 blocks away is a very good butcher shop.

Totally terrific Tuscan splendour

By Toni F on 25-Jun-2018

Beautiful Tuscan Villa54 Via della Boccaccia, Capannori, Tuscany, 55012, Italy Date of Stay 25 Jun 2018 Casa Joanna is set in the Tuscan Hills with a beautiful view of the mountains. This being our first time to Tuscany, the property was exactly what we imagined it would look like....complete with beautiful gardens, cypress trees, fresh herbs, bay leaf hedges and so much more, The villa was perfect.....very spacious yet inviting and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay wonderful (including dishwasher, gas stove, washer, fully equipped kitchen, plush towels, etc). We found the kitchen to be a wonderful place to cook, eat, enjoy wine and hang out. We had a cooking class in the villa with Chef Valentino and it was an incredible experience. We loved cooking together and then eating out on the terrace. The bedrooms are all ensuite and a good size. The beds were very comfortable. The property is ideally located to do day trips throughout all of Tuscany. We used a tour company called "Cruises on the Road in Tuscany" and they were amazing to work with. We visited Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and Cinque Terre And then to make a perfect situation even better, we met Roman, the property manager. When we arrived, Roman was there to meet us with Prosecco and a welcome basket of Tuscan goodies. From there, it only got better! He made sure that every part of our trip was perfect and he treated us like family. Roman was a big part of why this trip was so amazing!! Casa Joanna exceeded our expectations. We stayed at the villa for five nights and we absolutely fell in love with the people and the place. We definitely will go back one day!
