Recent stay at villa Casa Dos Pomares
5 out of 5
We have just spent a lovely, enjoyable and relaxing week at the villa.
Everybody who stayed at the villa, felt the photos on the website do not do the villa justice.
The views from the garden over to the lagoon and castle are spectacular, especially with the early morning mist, which made it look very eerie.
Obidos was very popular, three of the party attempted to walk the castle walls , but gave up on health and safety grounds.
We spent a great day sightseeing in Lisbon, great fun was had by all being driven by tuktuk around the sites.Trying to get back to the bus station in the evening via taxi was slightly difficult , as there was a football match on at the stadium.
O Tracadinho is certainly a gem, very friendly and the food well presented- we went there twice in a week and even came away with two jars of their chutney..We certainly will return to the area again

Fabulous Villa with stunning views and very welcoming owners

By Dave Bateman on 09-Sep-2025

We chose this Villa because of the location and imaculate pictures that were exactly what we saw when we turned up. Jackie and Nick were great throughout. We were meeting up with my wife’s Palestinian family, probably for the last time as she is very unwell and it was such a nice cosy place to do this. Obidos was fantastic and close to everywhere. Beautiful beaches and historic surroundings. Can’t recommend enough.

What a fantastic place!

By Amanda on 22-Aug-2025

The property was huge and in a beautiful location - rural and quiet and yet only a few minutes drive from beautiful Obidos. The grandkids loved the garden and spent hours in the pool. The local beaches were amazing and we all fell in love with Beleal beach, Peniche.

Silver Coast - Gold Reward !!

By Jamie Boulton on 04-Jun-2025

We stayed in this villa for two weeks during June 2025. The villa is set among the hills, villages and lanes of the area with stunning views overlooking the old castle town of Obidos and the beautiful lagoon, sea and beach near Foz do Arelho. However, there is easy access to all parts of the region within a few minutes drive. The villa is very spacious and light, with a private pool and extensive gardens including an orchard with a variety of fruit trees such as fig and apricot. There is so much to see and do in the area. If you don't like chilling by the pool, you will never get bored !! The owners/hosts guided us through the rental process at every stage and provided us with a whole lot of information about the area including places to visit, eat and shop. We had a great holiday in a region of Portugal that we had not previously visited. Thank you Jackie & Nick !!

Thank you so much Jamie! E’re so glad you all had such a lovely time and very much hope we can welcome you back in the future Best wishes, Jackie & Nick

Goodbye Lovely Villa

By Family W on 12-Jul-2025

5 - 12 July 2025 A lovely villa with everything we could need for a family holiday. Beautiful views, very relaxing time. Obidos is a lovely little medieval town - not to be missed for visiting & especially sampling the chocolate Ginja cups! Peniche and nearby beaches worth a visit - to chill and watch the surfers. The lagoon area also - but don’t get stranded by the tide. Ate at O Tracadinho - a short walk from villa - also A Toca do Coelho, a good 40 mins walk (uphill) or a short drive. Thank you Jackie & Nick for the use of your lovely villa. Will recommend to others and we hope to return one day! The W family x Also visited Vinhos Cortem vineyard - wine tasting & tour - small & friendly

What a fantastic week we have enjoyed!

By Family S on 08-Sep-2024

What a fantastic week we have enjoyed!! As you know our holiday started out with a little trepidation regarding getting there in the first place, but upon arrival all that soon disappeared. Your host Salome greeted us with genuine excitement to tell us all about your lovely home and the surrounding area, and your house is perfect, sat within a perfect location and offers everything that a family would ever require, especially the table tennis which kept our boys occupied for hours most nights. We have honestly fallen in love with the area, food and people and were greeted with smiles and welcomes everywhere we ventured. And we did venture to all the beeches you recommended, spending most days on or around the coastline North or South of the house, that coastline is truly unbelievable with the waves like nothing we have seen before. Nazare completely blew our minds!! And then the food is again completely fabulous, we ate out most days either locally in Obidos with A Nova Casa de Ramiro being a real highlight or had some fun listening to the music with Pasta in Prohibition, we did also use the BBQ a couple of times enjoying the local fish and the sunset. Your house is located perfectly for all this exploring and once again everyone we encountered was genuinely happy to chat and help, and also how refreshing the complete lack of English!! Thanks again for all your help and sharing your home, we have had a truly wonderful time.

Lovely holiday

By Families B on 19-Sep-2024

Thanks Nick & Jackie, we’ve had a lovely holiday. The house is beautifully situated, wonderful views, spacious and very well equipped. An excellent base for exploring central Portugal. We loved our visits to Obidos, Peniche and Baleal, Nazaré and São Martinho which is a lovely beach and of course 2 days in Lisbon. Particularly enjoyed Poco dos Sabores restaurant, Ti Ascencao in Caldas (excellent), Jamon Jamon - good fun, lovely atmosphere, great tapas. Fantastic weather, perfect for swimming in the lovely pool. Altogether a great week, great for a family reunion! Thanks again both, the B’s & the B’s. PS Used Uber a few times, works well, also used David the taxi driver from Obidos who has also been very helpful.
