Recent stay at villa Casa Dos Pomares
5 out of 5
We have just spent a lovely, enjoyable and relaxing week at the villa.
Everybody who stayed at the villa, felt the photos on the website do not do the villa justice.
The views from the garden over to the lagoon and castle are spectacular, especially with the early morning mist, which made it look very eerie.
Obidos was very popular, three of the party attempted to walk the castle walls , but gave up on health and safety grounds.
We spent a great day sightseeing in Lisbon, great fun was had by all being driven by tuktuk around the sites.Trying to get back to the bus station in the evening via taxi was slightly difficult , as there was a football match on at the stadium.
O Tracadinho is certainly a gem, very friendly and the food well presented- we went there twice in a week and even came away with two jars of their chutney..We certainly will return to the area again

We stayed for a week in this beautiful villa just outside Obidos. We were a family of 5.

The Villa was very spacious and well equipped. The views are stunning and we loved watching the sunset. The pool is a great size and just beside the kitchen / living room which would be handy in hotter temperatures. We unfortunately did not have the time or temperature! Although we made use of the BBQ and fresh fish is abundant in the local supermarket. We explored the area and visited Porto. Coimbra and Nazare , and took surfing lessons one day. The mosquitoes were a pain. Loved Obidos and the recommended restaurants. Great stay!

Hi Hannah, thank you so much for your great review, hope to welcome you back again at some future point, hopefully too fewer mosquitoes than in this unusually hot summer! Best wishes, Jackie and Nick

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

By Family B on 31-Aug-2023

The villa is in a peaceful location high on a hill with beautiful views towards Obidos. The villa was clean, spacious and comfortable (only small criticism being that the pillows in the master bedroom were quite hard). The kitchen is well equipped and there are many board games available, as well as table tennis and a mini snooker table to keep you entertained during those nights in. Due to the villa’s position it can get windy - but I can imagine during very hot weather this would be appreciated. The pool is a decent size - due to the cooler weather during our stay we didn’t get to use it much but instead used the villa as an excellent base for exploring the area. We visited nearby Obidos, the gardens at Buddha Eden, both sides of the lagoon (which is amazing) and took a boat trip to the Berlenga Island. The boat trip to the Island was incredibly bumpy (so really not for those who suffer sea sickness) and the island was far too busy, but the colour of the water was spectacular and for that it was worth the trip. Our two teenagers took a guided Kayak trip around the island which they enjoyed. We hired bikes one day to cycle along the lagoon which was delightful and a highlight of our week. There are a couple of large supermarkets within five minutes drive and many good restaurants to choose from including O Trachadinho, a five minute walk away. The villa is in a lovely part of Portugal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Superb villa in a fantastic location

By Daren Mottershead on 08-Aug-2023

Casa dos Pomares translates to Orchard House as this wonderful, modern villa sits beside rows of apple, pear, apricot, plum and fig trees meaning fresh fruit is available for most of the year. Situated in the hills above the charming medieval town of Obidos, this spacious villa has spectacular panoramic views of Obidos castle with a lagoon and the Atlantic ocean beyond. There is a solar heated pool and barbecue in the well-maintained garden. With four bedrooms and a huge open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, this villa was the perfect property for our first, two-family holiday in Portugal.
