We can help to arrange a shopping delivery service, home made meal on arrival, wine tours, children’s activities, wild swimming spots, festivals, events, and restaurant recommendations based on our personal knowledge of the area built up over 30 years.Monte Rotondo is a four bedroomed farmhouse villa is ideal for families or groups of friends who want the privacy and relaxation of a rural setting with a large 12 metre private pool.
The house has a well equipped kitchen and extensive indoor and outdoor dining facilities suitable for a large group. The four bedrooms have simple en-suite bathrooms and two have access to a balcony. There is a large sitting room and an additional bathroom as well as a covered patio area outside for shaded dining.
Furnished with a tasteful mix of antique and modern furniture, this house pervades Italian style.
With only a five minute walk to the nearest restaurant nothing could be more convenient. The restaurant is of a high standard, great value, specialising in local produce and is popular with discerning Italians from all over the region.
The owner Enrico prides himself on the excellent welcome pack he leaves for his guests with high quality local organic produce.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: Garfagnana is the best are in Tuscany for walking. We have strong links with an outdoor actities company offering inexpensive world class mountaineering, canyoning, caving and mountain bilking, as well as guided hill walking.
Mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding are all available locally.
Locally: Castelnuovo, the nearby market town, has many restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and all other types of shops. There is a tourist information office and a weekly market selling a wide variety of fashion, household goods, flowers, fruit and vegetables. It is only 2kms walk from the villa. There is a train station with trains to Lucca ( to Florence and Pisa ), and Aulla ( near the Cinque Terre )
The nearby medieval villages of Cascio, Eglio and Sassi are really nice and worth exploring, as are many of the other villages in the area.
Friends of Tuscany can help arrange excursions to vineyards, mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, gorge walking, art classes and cooking classes which are all available locally.

Great week
By Allison on 06-Jun-2024We stayed in the villa for 1 week in june, three adults and two children. The garden and view were absolutely beautiful. The large private pool is well maintained. The villa is older with tons of character, very spacious and comfortable. We rented a car for the week which i would recommend as the villa is tucked away up in the hills you couldn't safely walk to the town. The fact it is tucked away means its completely private we only saw enrico the owner when he came to check the pool and bins but he was not intrusive and kept visits quick and quiet, any questions we had he immediately answered and sorted out, an absolute gentleman. Supermarkets and restaurants are a 5 minute drive to the local town. Restaurant 2 minute walk was also lovely. We had the most relaxing week here could not recommend it enough.
Good house
By Mikko on 09-Jul-2024Travelling as two families with kids, the place was superb and had plenty of space. The house is not brand new and one shouldn't consider it to be spotless and all things up to date but we liked it and it fit for our purpose. Kids loved the pool and the yard. The location is on a hill so car is a must, there is only very limited services reachable in a walking distance.

Beautiful stone house
By Sally on 20-Jul-2024Beautiful stone house with a large pool in a quiet and secluded area. Ideal for a relaxing holiday! The house has all the amenities. Hosts are very kind and always available as needed. Highly recommend this place that we loved!

Outdoor fridge and BBQ very welcome. Lovely location. Nice local restaurant within walking distance. Everything else by car. Local train service good.
