Secluded luxury villa with fabulous views! 4/5 Stayed May 2019 Alison P. We have just returned from a lovely family holiday at Villa Gionis. This newly built property has been finished to an extremely high standard and is set on a very large plot with an excellent pool, several terraces and a landscaped garden that will mature gradually over time. On the whole, the villa is very well equipped, although we do have a couple of suggestions that could further improve the experience, the main one being the provision of a barbecue. It seems a shame not to be able to enjoy outdoor cooking in such a beautiful setting. We did buy a couple of disposable barbecues, but a brick-built option would certainly be fitting for this luxury villa. Additionally, there is ample room for a table tennis table, something we had at a villa on a previous visit to the island and used extensively. We had a couple of small issues during our week’s stay. One morning there was no hot water but this was quickly addressed and rectified. Slightly more problematic was the fact that we had no internet access for the second half of the week. We were told this was due to a problem in the area, which is of course unavoidable, but it was slightly problematic for some of our party. This was our first visit to the north of the island and we were very pleased to be close to Fiskardo, which is a beautiful small town in an idyllic setting. Assos and Myrtos beach were also well worth a visit and we took a boat trip to Ithaca. Whilst the latter was enjoyable, a trip from this end of the island does not go to Vathi (as it is too far south) which is beautiful and worth a visit. For a cooler day, we would certainly recommend doing one of the very well sign-posted walks which take you deep into the countryside. Some members of the family hired kayaks in Fiskardo and had a fantastic time exploring. Of the many bars and restaurants in the town, a special shout out must go to the delightful Theodora’s, where we enjoyed evening drinks on several occasions, sitting at the harbour’s edge.
