Description
L’Eremo is a spacious private villa set within a historic Chianti wine estate, offering the rare combination of complete privacy and access to full estate facilities. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woodland, the villa has its own private pool, sauna, orchard and terraces, while the estate restaurant, tennis courts and wine cellars are just a short walk away.The property dates back to the 1600s and once belonged to the Ricasoli family, historically associated with the development of Chianti wine. Today, the estate has been carefully restored and remains a working wine property, with vineyard tours and tastings available for guests.
The villa is arranged over three levels.
On the ground floor there is a spacious living area with large picture windows overlooking the countryside. The kitchen is well equipped and opens onto two covered dining terraces, making outdoor meals easy and comfortable. Also on this level are two bedrooms: a large double bedroom with shower and a smaller twin bedroom with en suite shower room. The private sauna and swimming pool add an extra level of comfort, particularly for families.
On the first floor there is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. Doors open onto a large terrace with steps leading down to the private orchard. On the top floor there is a lobby with writing desk and a further double bedroom with en suite bathroom featuring a spa bath.
Guests at L’Eremo have exclusive use of the villa and its grounds, but may also use the estate’s facilities. These include tennis courts, guided vineyard tours with a sommelier, wine tastings in the estate cellars and a restaurant located approximately 0.5 miles away. Meals can also be delivered to the villa. There is a small beauty centre offering treatments such as aromatherapy, shiatsu massage, facials, Turkish bath, chocolate therapy and wine therapy.
The reception team at the main complex can assist with cookery classes, horse riding, bike rental and general local advice.
The location is excellent for exploring Chianti. The medieval village of Barbischio is 1 mile away and has a small trattoria. Gaiole in Chianti is 3 miles away and offers a wide selection of restaurants and shops. Radda in Chianti is 9 miles away. Siena is 19 miles, Monteriggioni 26 miles, Florence 48 miles and Pisa 76 miles.
From the villa you can walk to the castle of Castagnoli in around 30 minutes. Nearby are Castello di Brolio, Castello di Meleto and Badia a Coltibuono, all well known for wine and history. The estate sits in a particularly scenic part of Chianti, with classic vineyard landscapes and quiet country lanes.
L’Eremo works well for families or groups who want the privacy of their own villa but appreciate having restaurant, wine tasting and activities available on site. It offers a practical and comfortable way to experience the Chianti countryside without feeling isolated.
