Villa Ariadne in Gavalochori , Apokoronas, NW CretePLease note that Google mapping has not included the road that the villa is situated on as the mapping vehicle ignored this due to road going through old school yard for access.
CANCELLATION POLICY Holidaymakers who cancel at least 28 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount that they've paid. If they cancel after 28 days before check-in, they'll get back 50%. Otherwise, they won't get a refund.

Villa Ariadne is situated amongst ancient olive groves on a quiet country lane leading to the beautiful village of Gavalochori.
The villa is beautiful, detached, comfortable, light, modern and airy set in mature gardens only 8 minutes walk from 2 tavernas, one kafenion. a bakery ,2 mini markets and a Cretan gift shop.
Spectacular views of open country side ( Mountains, rolling hills, olive groves and villages in the distance) from all balconies. The upstairs balcony faces west for those fabulous Cretan sunsets - not to be missed!
No need to drive to the village for lunch or dinner - walking (400 metres) at night with a torch for guidance is wonderful - or you could steer by the stars.

The Villa has been awarded a Health First Safety Certificate from the Greek Tourism Ministry to show that the villa complies with the local regulations regarding COVID-19. Namely cleaning and presentation in order to provide a safe and secure environment for our guests.

GREEK MUNICIPALiTY TAXES
Tax of 0.5% (ie half a percent of the rental fee) will be added to the booking price. For example, if weekly rental is £2000 then the tax at 0.5% will be £10 .The total booking cost is £ 2,010.
CLIMATE RESILIENCE TAX Payable on arrival at the villa and the amount per night 2.00 euros for 2025, this is reviewed by the greek gov each year
PRICES
Prices quoted are in Pounds sterling, per week, for up to 6 people occupying the villa and not per person.
Alternative length of stays of more than 7 nights are welcomed and are charged pro rata.
The villa is not available for events/party/ group bookings

WHAT IS INCLUDED
Prices include air conditioning, a welcome pack of pantry items,
All linen/towels, including pool towels.
Cleaning once per week. main areas, bedrooms and bathrooms only
Bed linen changed once per week
Bath and hand towel change changed twice per week
Pool towels are machine washed at the villa when the villa is cleaned during your stay
Two week stay villa cleaning before after and midway are included in the price
NB Pool towels provided are not for use at the beach.
There are NO hidden extras.

Please do not use suntan lotions with colourants ie carotene ( All suntan in Greece seems to have this ingredient) as this stains the pool liner.

LOCAL INTEREST
Gavalochori Village has the following places of interest
Superb Folk Museum newly updated 3 euros entry charge, an ancient Olive Mill with beautiful Cretan arches and interesting Greek churches. Roman wells can also be found above the village.
Lovely walks to Almerida and Douliana.
Chania and Rethymno are a short drive away for sightseeing, Roman ruins at Aptera. Vrysses for the superb cake and ice cream/coffee shop.
BEACHES
The sandy beaches at Almerida 4 km and Kalives 8km are inviting with ample choice of tavernas, fast food gyros, icecream and coffee shop and bars for your enjoyment plus supermarkets, green grocers and butcher shops.

From the moment we arrived—at 2 AM no less!—we were warmly welcomed by the host, who kindly waited up for us and made sure we felt right at home. That level of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated.Throughout our stay, we enjoyed great conversations with the host, who was not only friendly but also genuinely interested in making our visit as comfortable as possible. The villa itself was spotless—every room was immaculately clean and beautifully maintained, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our holiday.The location was peaceful, the amenities were exactly as described, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing getaway. Wonderful Villa

It was perfect for us and the pool area was enjoyed by all. 10 mins walk to lovely local village with 2 fab tavernas and mini markets. 10 mins by car to Almyreda , 20ins Kalyves. Penny was a perfect host, very sad to leave, a great holiday! Thank you Penny.

Our first visit to Crete

Being able to walk to the village for all you might need as well as Kalives only a few miles away has been a godsend. Kalives has a great vibe loved it there, Made the trip to Elafonisi Beautiful place but soso busy. Moni Arkadi. Margarites, rethymno- a favourite. Thanks Penny , has been great having you around when needed and lovely chatting with you!!
Stunning Villa, Highly recommended

The owner is very welcoming and friendly with excellent communication before our stay and was always available if we needed her during the stay. The villa was very clean and comfortable with everything that we needed provided. The views from the balconies are magnificent whether looking at the mountains with a morning cup of tea or watching the sun set with a glass of local wine. The swimming pool is lovely and surrounded by flowers so you can swim surrounded by butterflies! The local village (15 min walking distance but a steepish track on the way back) is beautiful with 3 different places to eat, two mini supermarkets, a bakery and a local craft shop. It’s a 10 min drive to the local beaches which are ideal for swimming and snorkelling or just building sandcastles. We loved our time in this stunning villa and would highly recommend it.
