Introducing Gladjola - by Jules
"I walked into a delightful hall with local patterned floor tiles and that familiar charm of honey-coloured limestone.
Through arched double doors, the character of the combined living space was impressive. Excellently designed and finished Gladiola has a semi-rustic feel but you know immediately that there’s effort and expertise gone into designing and finishing Gladiola.
You can’t help but be drawn to the pretty as a picture view framed by the three arched terrace doors. An idyllic and peaceful pool terrace is set against a timeless backdrop of the surrounding countryside. It all contributes to this Gozo holiday home’s peaceful atmosphere and rural feel.
It’s perfect for winter too with an inbuilt stone fireplace that turns the farmhouse into a cosy escape. A fabulous base to explore the riches of Gozo". Jules
The spacious open plan living area includes a combined modern kitchen lounge and dining room.
The charming inbuilt stone fireplace in the living area creates a cosy ambience in the winter months. The living area includes a flat-screen TV cable and stereo.
The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher.
Limited Mobility Access:
Bedroom one with its en-suite shower-room is on the ground floor making it ideal for those with restricted mobility. You'll also find a separate family bathroom and utility room with washing machine on this floor.
Gladiola’s 3 additional bedrooms are on the first floor. All have en-suite shower facilities and double beds.
From the pool terrace enjoy idyllic countryside views where you can spend hours relaxing soaking up the atmosphere or having a lazy BBQ.
The village of Ghasri sits amongst the fields and valleys of rural Gozo yet is within a mile of Victoria’s commanding citadel and close to one of the best swimming spots on the island. From the terrace you’ll easily be able to identify Tal Gordan a flat-topped hill with an iconic lighthouse. It’s a must for ramblers.
From Ghasri village square a road leads to the fabulous valley of Wied l-Ghasri 2.3km away from your Gozo holiday farmhouse. The Wied l-Ghasri area is a marvellous place for country walks or rewarding cycle rides especially in winter and spring. The valley ends at the sea wedged between high cliffs where a secluded inlet makes an ideal spot for swimming snorkelling and together with the sea surrounding it a very popular spot for diving.
On the way be sure to stop at the charming old chapel dedicated to the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The two shallow bays of Xwejni and Qbajjar are both 4.1 Km away. Next to each other, they have small pebbly beaches and rocky stretches that lead to clear blue water. Excellent for swimming they are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and are popular with divers especially beginners. You’ll also find a few fishing boats here and a couple of bars and restaurants on the seafront.
The feast of Ghasri is celebrated on the first or second Sunday in June and is dedicated to Corpus Christi. Victoria has two big feasts one in the third week of July and the other on 15 August.
The closest beaches are 3 km away and a local food store is just 700 metres from your Gozo holiday villa. The closest restaurant Ta Jeffrey's is 2km away and has a deserved reputation for its traditional Gozitan cuisine. Grazie Mille is a tempting alternative and is opposite Ta Jeffrey’s.
The capital of Victoria is 3.5 km away. Catch the 308 bus and it will take you to the centre with its wide range of shops cafes bars and restaurants as well as a wealth of history
A private two-car garage is available to use and is accessed from the house.
