"Well I wasn’t expecting that. It’s not every Gozo farmhouse that comes with its own altar. It’s even more of a surprise in a modern Gozo holiday home but somehow it works. It’s just one of a number of features (from sandstone arches to wooden beams) that makes a modern home feel very traditional.

Of course, the advantage of this being a modern Gozo farmhouse is that in amongst the antique trappings you get large living spaces and contemporary comfort. It’s an appealing mix.

Censina is one of a cluster of self-catering Gozo farmhouses in tranquil Ghammar. This handful of buildings aside there’s little to disrupt the peace yet you’re never more than a short drive from a great beach restaurant or activity". Jules

PROPERTY DETAILS

Ground floor:

Censina is effectively a mirror image of Lonza next door. The altar aside (which sits dramatically in an anteroom off the living space) the living room kitchen and dining areas are open plan spacious and airy divided only by light stone archways. The farmhouse kitchen opens out to the pool terrace.

First floor:

Inside the front entrance door, a large stone staircase leads to the first floor and a feature landing of wrought iron railings and antique tiles.

Bedoom 1 has two single beds.

Bedroom 2 has one double bed.

Bedroom 3 and 4 have 2 single beds.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities.

Outside:

The terrace of this Gozo farmhouse is positioned for all-day sunshine, giving you lots of opportunity to enjoy the generously-sized pool, sun loungers, umbrella and BBQ.

Censina is in Ghammar (pronounced “ammer”) between Zebbug and Ghasri.

In Ghasri the steep walk up Gurden Hill to the lighthouse at its crest is a challenge for anyone who loves a good walk. Wied L Ghasri valley is a pleasant stroll from Ghammar. It’s an ideal spot for country walks and cycling particularly in spring and winter.

The valley leads to the sea and a secluded inlet nestled between high cliffs.

The inlet is popular for swimming snorkelling and diving.

Censina is close (2.5km) to a number of good beaches including Dwerja Bay , lively Marsalforn Bay to the north and Ramla Bay the largest sandy beach on Gozo to the east.

The nearest supermarket is 0.8km from Censina with bars, cafes and restaurants approximately a 1 km walk.
