Welcome to Villa Vounaki – your private retreat in the heart of Kefalonia.Nestled on a secluded 2,000 m² estate at the edge of the traditional village of Makriotika, Villa Vounaki offers peace, privacy, and panoramic views of the lush Pylaros valley, the shimmering Ionian Sea, and the surrounding mountains. This is the perfect place to unwind and experience authentic Greek life—far from mass tourism.
Just a 10-minute drive brings you to the charming harbor of Agia Efimia, with its cafés, restaurants, and shops. The world-famous Myrtos Beach and several idyllic white-pebble coves with crystal-clear waters—ideal for swimming and snorkeling—are also nearby. For a taste of local cuisine, the beloved taverna Maklithari is just a short walk (5 min) from the villa.
The Villa
Villa Vounaki is built and furnished to a high standard, combining traditional charm with modern comfort.
Spread over two floors and approximately 110 m² of living space, the villa is fully air-conditioned (bedrooms and living room) and offers fast, free Wi-Fi throughout.
Upstairs:
• 3 individually styled bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin, 1 single), each with air-conditioning, ample storage, and balconies with sea or countryside views
• 1 bathroom with shower, WC, and hairdryer

Outdoor Living
The private pool (4 × 7 m, depth 0.50–1.50 m) is located on the sun-drenched southwest side of the property. Just a few steps lead to a shaded pergola lounge with panoramic mountain views—perfect for relaxing with a breeze and a book.
Two additional terraces (east and west) offer sun and shade throughout the day, furnished with comfortable wooden seating, umbrellas, and a mobile gas grill.
The beautifully landscaped Mediterranean garden features vibrant geraniums, roses, oleanders, and aromatic herbs—creating a serene and fragrant environment.

By Linda K. on 05-Oct-2025A beautiful week spent at Villa Vounaki with the family. Lida and Peter were wonderful hosts - we arrived to a wonderful greeting from Lida and a tour of the house. There were lots of treats in the fridge to get us started and she was able to recommend local tavernas and a book with restaurant suggestions in the area. The village is very quaint and very quiet - just what we wanted. The villa has a wonderful outlook and views to the coast. We hired a car and this is definitely needed to get around. We visited some marvellous beaches within 15-30 minute drive and plenty of places to eat in Agia Effimia. The villa had everything we needed, the pool area is cosy and plenty of outdoor seating for eating and relaxing. We would highly recommend and will be returning for sure! Thank you Lida and Peter for your hospitality.

By Sigrid D. on 04-Oct-2025Wir hatten einen wunderbar erholsamen Urlaub auf Kefalonia! Das Ferienhaus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Vermieter Lida und Peter waren unglaublich nette und aufmerksame Gastgeber: der Kühlschrank war bei Ankunft gut gefüllt mit Lebensmitteln. Das Haus wurde zweimal pro Woche gereinigt und die Betten frisch bezogen. Alles in allem haben wir es sehr genossen und werden gerne wieder dort Ferien machen. Einen herzlichen Dank an Lida und Peter für ihre Gastfreundschaft.

By Shinji on 31-Aug-2025We had a fantastic stay! The villa was very beautiful and spotless, with a fantastic garden and a nice swimming pool. There was a restaurant only 5min away by walk, serving delicious Greek foods. Its location was very convenient where we could drive many popular places including Myrtos beach within 30min. Lida was a warm and welcoming host, and always available for questions. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we’d love to return!!

Loved the area and neighbourhood and there were some great little local restaurants we went to. Good butcher in Agia Effimia. Thoroughly recommend.
Wonderful place
By Chris B. on 19-Aug-2025I warmly recommend this wonderful place. It is perfect to relax and also a good starting point for exploring the island. Very well equipped house and beautifully kept by the warmhearted hosts. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden full of Mediterranean plants.
