Description
Relaxation is guaranteed in this self-contained haven. Nestling into the brow of a foothill of São Miguel, the eastern Algarve's highest peak. With breathtaking panoramic views of the sea (15 minutes distance), your cottage extends to several private covered areas which include a gas or charcoal barbecue and a giant marble table for ‘al fresco dining’.Ideal for those in serious need of battery recharging, there is a wonderful 6ft bed, ensuite shower room and amazing sea views from every window. You have a 60 sq.m. pool for your exclusive use, air conditioning, 4G WiFi, DVD and streaming TV. There is also an upper terrace around the fabulous private pool and a welcome shady spot under the huge carob tree.
There is the option to bring friends or family to rent another large queen size bedroom with private bathroom, its own entrance and sun terrace, making the ideal getaway for friends or family together. (Please enquire directly to me as there is an additional charge for this accommodation).
Neither is let to separate people so no unexpected surprises and you have the pool to yourselves as well.
Your welcome pack includes lots of goodies and always wine and beer! Each guest receives a unique menu just for the beginning of their stay, so no urgent trips to supermarkets needed! I am a Cordon Bleu trained cook and everything is home made. Some of my recipes are in print in my daughter’s recent book “My Family And Other Rock Stars” (by Tiffany Murray).
The village of Moncarapacho with banks, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets is 5 minutes drive away. We are also situated about 20 minutes from Faro Airport and are centrally located in the scenic Eastern Algarve with easy access to the principal towns of Faro, Tavira, Fuseta and Olhao, the latter famed for the amazing waterside avenue full of every cuisine possible. The wonderful islands and beaches of the Ria Formosa are all within 10-20 minutes drive. Further afield the Golden Triangle towns of Val De Lobo/ Quinta do Lago, Almancil and Vilamoura are 30 minutes drive, along with world class golf courses, restaurants and beaches. Head further east and the Spanish border beckons with Seville only 2 hours distance.
Come visit the Eastern Algarve for yourself and experience all it has to offer!.
A car is necessary, although shops and restaurants are within 2 km of the property in Moncarapacho and a local taxi service is available. There is lots of fun to be had on the Ria Formosa, where you can rent kayak’s, learn to kite surf, paddle board or take the water taxis or a private boat tour around the beautiful islands.

Leave ReviewCasa Monte do Cerro, well what can I say, A beautiful, relaxing, romantic place to stay. We stayed for a week and wish had booked longer. Will return.
By Sarah & Simon on 09-Oct-2025When we arrived, we had a beautify and very large welcome pack including meals home cooked, they were fantastic and put the vacation on great footing without that usual rush to the supermarket to get the weeks supplies. The cottage was great, had everything we needed, including privacy. Joan the owner & our host on a few occasions fully appreciates privacy which is great if you don't want to be disturbed while on vacation. We did accept a couple of invites and Joan is a great host, so its your choice if you want to interact or not. To be honest, we enjoyed our hosts company and had great time and now have a great friend too. The cottage is within easy distance of Travira, Loule, Moncarapacho and other locations. The pool was very clean and tidy as was the rest of the facility, theres a a couple of lovely outside dinning areas in beautifully kept garden. If you do want to keep up with the rest of the world, you can with the WiFi available and easy to join. A fantastic gem on a Hilltop location with spectacular sea views and sole use of huge (and I mean huge) outdoor pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Will be returning next year.
Fantastic accommodation in a stunning location.
By Barry B on 31-Aug-2023The cottage is in a fantastic location, only 30 mins from Faro airport and the charming towns of Loule, Olhoa, Fuseta and Tavira, set on high ground with uninterrupted views to the coast. We arrived to find the accommodation immaculately clean, and it included a very well equipped kitchen, 2 barbeques and a huge marble table on the terrace where we spent many relaxing evenings. The icing on the cake was the very generous welcome pack that Joan provided, which included a couple of delicious home cooked meals and enough other food and drink to keep us going for a number of days. The pool is excellent, located only a few steps up from the apartment, easily the largest we have enjoyed in a private hiring, with loads of sun loungers to choose from and amazing views towards the east Algarve coast. Joan is a charming host, very discreet but readily available if we required any advice about local places to visit. We had a couple of hugely enjoyable evenings in her company sharing a bottle of wine. True to Joan''''s word, we were the only guests and had the place to ourselves. All in all, we absolutely loved our stay. It was very relaxing and stress free, largely thanks to the huge effort Joan had put into making the cottage comfortable and well appointed. We like to travel to different places, but having enjoyed our time here so much we are already talking about when we can return to Casa Monte do Cerro for another stay. Peaceful, relaxing and quiet.
By Stephen P on 30-Sep-2023Very private accomodation with no disturbance apart from the odd visit from a very friendly Bear (not that kind). Who can be kept away if you so wish. We would normally go to Lidl and stock up before we arrive at a property but Joan warned us to see what our welcome pack consisted of first. I''''m glad we heeded her advice as it kept us going for a couple of days. I''''ll not go into details as I''''m sure it changes with seasonal availability but I guarantee it won''''t be disappointing. The studio/cottage has all a cook needs in the kitchen and outside you have a choice of a charcoal or gas BBQ. One fridge outside and another inside gives enough room for fresh food and drink. Privacy is high on the agenda with Joan keeping out of the way unless you want to speak to her but she is very welcoming and attentive of any requests. The pool is close to the accommodation, up a few steps. It''''s adjoined to the main villa but very private and peaceful - no interruptions again. Joan apologised for the weather, so I''''m holding her responsible for the sunshine on our next visit as we''''ll definitely be back and I''''m looking forward to a social drink with her because I know she''''s sitting on some excellent tales. A haven in the hills
By N Dahl on 12-Sep-2023Wow what a place to spend a week! The cottage is delightful, views amazing day and night, huge pool in lovely gardens and patio area. Joan our host and Xana her friend are really lovely people. From before we arrived everything was sorted with full instructions on how to find the property. When we did arrive the welcome package was AMAZING!! Quite used to getting nothing on arrival, well we had a roast chicken, pork stroganoff, salad, water, wine, bread , eggs and ice plus a fab stock cupboard full of useful bits. In short, the place is excellent. Clean, quiet and simple. What more do you need…. Lovely local restaurants, supermarket 5 mins away, you do need a car.
