“Perfect villa in perfect location leading to the perfect holiday!”

I can honestly say this is the BEST family holiday we have had in Portugal in years. The villa is stunning! The most breathtaking view to the coast - a joy to open the bedroom doors in the morning and gaze out to the beauty falling away to the sea below. The villa is perfectly designed inside - everything draws you outside to the covered veranda and heated pool. Even if some of the family are enjoying a bit of shade you can still enjoy a conversation with them. The bedrooms are large and spacious and exceptionally comfortable. The living area is very big with windows that look out to the coast - the view at night when it was all lit up was truly fantastic. The area has a lovely breeze during the day and private in the evening - isolated but without feeling cut off. If you want to get way from the usual tourist spots and experience a different aspect (in my view the best) of Portugal, then Monchique is the place to be. A gorgeous mountain village with just the right mixture of bustle, peace and tranquillity. It was a joy to sit in the village square in the morning, having a leisurely breakfast and a cup of coffee while watching the world go by. Our children are teenagers and we were worried they might have been bored in this surrounding we were totally wrong - they loved it! We discovered a great outdoor adventure company called Alternativtours in Monchique that offers mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, zip wiring and much much more- definitely worth booking some activities over a couple of days! Finally, the restaurants and food - outstanding... value for money combined with excellent Portuguese cuisine and delicious wines. If you're used to paying the 'tourist' prices in over populated areas then you are going to be very very pleasantly surprised at the value, quality and level of attentiveness offered by the wonderful people of Monchique. All in all, this is a holiday my family will never forget - in fact, I'm worried about writing too much about how good the villa and area are in case I can't get the same booking next year - too late.. I have to tell the truth. Oh and the owner Sheila is amazing with excellent communication throughout our trip - she will answer your queries anytime. In short - a real gem in the heart of the mesmerizing mountains!
