Description
Villa Near Montone, Umbria, Italy. Peaceful and secluded yet a tranquil walk from the beautiful hilltop town of Montone.Stunning country home, ensconced in over twenty acres of private grounds, Casa di Luce nestles into a hill in verdant Umbrian countryside, a few minutes from the beautiful ancient hill top town of Montone. Surrounded by lawns, olives, woods and a mountainous horizon, anyone staying at Casa di Luce will appreciate the superb views and the special sense of peace and calm.
The villa has been lovingly restored and decorated in a modern chic style that blends seamlessly with the traditional stone walls and ancient wood beamed ceilings. Special attention has been paid to indoor lighting to create an intimate, but open and airy space. Swimming in the infinity edge pool, with a glass of wonderful Italian wine at hand, or just relaxing after a hard day of visiting idyllic local medieval villages and towns, Casa di Luce is ideal for friends and for families in search of a place of style, beauty and tranquility.
This villa is perfect for friends or families as the reception rooms are large and allow plenty of private space. The outdoor deck, by the kitchen garden, is a dream for watching glorious sunsets with a cocktail or the shooting stars at night. The covered loggia is perfect for barbecues and outside dining.
The ground floor has cool tiled flooring and is seamlessly open plan in the living areas. The entrance hall leads to a small office with a library for guests to pick and choose from, TV/video games room, comfortable drawing room leading to the pool with a traditional fireplace for cooler evenings and a huge well stocked kitchen/dining room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the valley below. A well equipped utility room leads off from the kitchen. On the other side of the entrance hall is a double bedroom suite, with a dressing room with a beautiful claw-foot bath and chandelier and a separate shower room and doors leading to the garden and its own patio.
The wrought iron staircase leads to the upstairs bedrooms and master suite. On this floor there is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each with their own bathroom opposite, and the master suite with its own dressing room, superb bathroom, fireplace and a wrought iron staircase leading up to the tower room with views across the valley and sleeping for an additional 2 people if requested. The master suite has its own intimate private patio and outdoor staircase leading back to the front gardens. All bedrooms (and the tower room) have remote controlled ceiling fans for warmer evenings. All bathrooms have a hairdryer.
The surrounding gardens and Olive grove are awash with gorgeous plants and flowers. The pool area is stunning, loungers, hammocks and so much more! The pool annex hosts a table tennis table and secluded area for a spot of yoga or croquet; the kitchen garden is planted from May - September.

Leave ReviewBeautiful and peaceful time in the hills
By Catharine Valentour on 01-Oct-2025We had a wonderful stay at Casa di Luce. Close to Montone and the Niccone valley with wonderful restaurants. Near towns and cities with incredible museums and churches. Close to great hikes in the countryside. And quiet afternoons gazing at the hill sides and mountains.
One of the best places that we have stayed.
By Jocelyn Ridley on 08-Sep-2025A lovely week in Casa di Luce. It is a great property, spacious, well furnished and well equipped. Charming, comfortable and relaxing. Lots of good outdoor places to eat and to just be. The best swimming pool. Beautifully situated with wonderful views. We enjoyed exploring the area, Montone is especially lovely and visiting the museum there is a must. Thank you for sharing your home.
Beautiful villa in stunning setting
By Gill S on 28-Jun-2025We have been to Italy many times and this was an absolutely outstanding villa in a wonderful location. Immaculately decorated and fitted out with everything you could possibly need, it was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Montone is a super town to be near ( great restaurants and superb views) and the Villa is a great and central base for exploring the beauty of Umbria and southern Tuscany. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic place to stay
By Prue Armstrong on 12-Jul-2025A great house, pool and beautiful views over the mountains and valleys. We loved the area - Montone is a beautiful village with great restaurants and cafes. The house has a very knowledgeable folder with a lot to choose from to do and see.
Absolutely Gorgeous Villa
By Susie on 24-May-2025The villa was undoubtedly absolutely gorgeous with the most amazing views. They were stunning, truly picture postcard!! It was perfect for our grown up family; everyone had enough space but it still felt homely. The double bedroom suite was ideal for our daughter and husband and their little baby - With the other bedrooms all being upstairs, we didn't hear the baby crying during the night. Perfect! We enjoyed the lovely infinity pool and outdoor terraces and the table tennis table was a big hit! The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed creating meals and eating Al fresco most evenings. Montone is a very attractive hilltop village which is a good 30 minute walk mainly along the road - not quite as tranquil as suggested! Montone has several restaurants and a very good bakery. Unfortunately, no food shops to buy provisions, although this wasn’t too much of a problem as we were out and about most days visiting the local area - Assisi, Gobbio and Lake Trasimeno were all within easy reach. Paul the manager was excellent and happy to help with any queries. Thank you for a truly memorable holiday!!
Wow just wow
By Suzi on 09-May-2025What an amazing villa. The views are just incredible. The interior design is beautiful and lends itself to a fabulous family holiday. The villa is just a perfect size.. everyone has enough space but it is not too big so that it feels impersonal. The pool was another great surprise as it was larger than expected. and the table tennis table was a very welcome addition. We will be back again!
