This attractive older villa is very well located in the small town of Praia da Luz, within very easy walking distance of the beautiful golden sandy beach, as well as the shops, and the many bars and restaurants. It is quite rare to find a villa with its own private pool in such a central location. There is a bus service from Luz to the busy market town of Lagos, where the summer evenings beside the restaurants are full of life and street activities. Fishing trips, boat trips and visits to the grottoes can be arranged here. Taxis are relatively reasonable if the bus ride is not appealing. Luz is just one hour from Faro airport. Car hire is not necessary when staying here, although recommended for visiting local attractions, and different beaches in the area. Trips to the Zoomarine with its dolphin and sea-lion shows as well as other water slide parks can be arranged from reception offices in the town.
ACCOMMODATION for 4 (with a small curtained-off room for 1 at extra cost)
The front door opens into a small lobby; and an archway leads to a larger inner hall. Immediately on the right is a shower bathroom next to a twin bedroom with beds set together, window and plenty of fitted cupboards. Next on the right after an owners locked cupboard is the front bedroom which has twin beds, also set together, fitted wardrobes, patio doors out to the pool terrace and a full bathroom en-suite. Please note that the décor of this bathroom is a little old fashioned.
The spacious sitting/dining room is nicely furnished with sofas and chairs and has a dining table to seat 4. There is a built-in log burning stove, a small plasma TV (see below for details) and a small cassette/CD player. Two sets of double patio doors open onto the pool terrace and a door leads to the fitted kitchen that has a cooker with electric oven and gas/electric hob, fridge with separate freezer compartment, microwave oven and dishwasher.
A door from the front hall, and one from the kitchen lead to a small lobby where there are cupboards enclosing the washing machine, and a broom cupboard. A curtained archway leads from here to the small back single bedroom, which is available on request and at extra cost. From 24/03 - 22/06 and 01/09 - 02/11/2022 £60 per week and from 23/06 - 31/08/2022 £80 per week. This room has a chest of drawers, a very small store/ hanging cupboard, a window facing east, and patio doors out to the side terrace.
You step out from the sitting room onto the pool terrace, which is part covered along this side of the villa, so space here for those who wish to relax in the shade but enjoy the activity of those in the pool. At one side is a built-in shaded table & bench seat plus chairs for outside dining. Almost alongside is the built-in charcoal barbecue and the walled-in terracing circles around the kidney shaped swimming pool. The pool has a solar cover on a roller which, if left on whilst not swimming and at night, will help warm the water There are 6 sun beds with cushions.
Outside and below the walled pool terraced area is a garden of trees and shrubs.
External stairs go up to the roof terrace with table and 4 chairs, ideal for enjoying an evening drink or al-fresco meal. There is a peeping sea view from this upper terrace. Please do not allow your children to climb up onto the roof from this terrace!
The cobbled track up to the villa is only used to access the two properties a little further up. There is a small area for parking by the front door.
The villa has been inspected by the local Câmara and is confirmed as having the facilities for their «AL» certification 10041/AL (Alojamento Local = Local Accommodation)
The villa is connected to mains, electricity and water.
Bottled gas is delivered, stored outside and piped into the villa for use in the hob unit.
The water is solar heated with an immersion heater for boosting if needed.
The plasma screen TV is connected to a local system called nOs via the internet. There are a great variety of programmes in English from News to other entertainment programmes like films and CSI. A great number of programmes are in English with Portuguese subtitles.
Sports can still usually be seen in the various bars in the town via a different system.
There is Wi-Fi available.
There is a small cassette/CD player. Bring your own cassettes and CDs.
There is a telephone for incoming calls only; the number will be given to you prior to your departure.
The house is fitted with a security alarm connected to a 24/7 emergency centre.
There is a small safe for your cash and passports (but please do not bring any valuables).
There are free-standing fans available for each bedroom for those who feel the heat.
There is a built-in charcoal Barbecue.
The pool measures 9 metres at its longest and 3.5 metres at its widest and has a solar cover on a roller. If you keep the pool covered when not in use in the day the cover helps keep the pool a little warmer.
A maintenance service cleans the pool every week.
There is a maid cleaning service. There is a basic mid-week clean for 4-5 people, otherwise only after a full week's stay. The bed-linen and towels will be changed once a week, after each full week’s stay, during her visit. Note that you may not see the cleaner at all if you are only 2 people and only staying a week.
A gardener comes once a week and sometimes a second visit in the hot weather to water the garden.
A rent deposit of 25% is required on booking. The rent balance is due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. A damage deposit of £300 is also requested.
