What a great place for a holiday! There were fourteen of us – two grandparents, their three children and their six children – aged 18 months to 72 years! The house, an old farmhouse brilliantly restored, suited us perfectly. All the bedrooms bar one had air-conditioning, the kitchen easily satisfied the most culinary demanding members of the family, and there were plenty of living spaces, inside and out, for everyone to do their own thing. Casa Timo’s isolated position means that it is wonderfully quiet, yet it’s only 20 minutes by car to Perugia and about the same to Lago di Trasimeno (sadly depleted of water when we were there due to months of drought). Of course, being August, we spent most of our time outdoors, in and around the wonderful pool. Fearsomely competitive boule contests were held on the purpose-designed pétanque court, and equally fearsome games of chess were played with the over-sized chess pieces in the main courtyard. And don’t get me started on the pizza oven which was commandeered by two of our party and made the most amazing pizzas in the whole of Perugia province (apologies to all the pizzerie in the locality!). Aleandro, the main housekeeper, was brilliant, responding to our various little ‘emergencies’ promptly and efficiently. We stayed a week; we wanted to stay a month.
We used Casa Timo for a week after our wedding, taking all our adult children with us. We named it our familymoon, and we had the most wonderful time. As a group of 14, we never found ourselves on top of one another, there are so many lovely places within the house and gardens to relax and spend some quiet time. The house was beautifully decorated, well equipped and very clean. The information that the owner provided for us was invaluable, it saves a day of your holiday researching where to go and what to see if your host has all those recommendations for you. The pool was lovely, but a little cold for me, the hardier members of the family were never out of it, the chess board in the garden was well used too. But mainly the loggia was our favourite place where we ate and sat out with several bottles of prosecco and just enjoyed the fabulous atmosphere of the house and quietness of the area. The views are wonderful, the house is a real treat and I would recommend highly. We would love to return.
We have just returned from our second holiday in this delightful farm house high in the Umbrian hills with easy access by car to Perugia and the surrounding area. This old farm house has been beautifully converted by the owners and provides very comfortable and extensive accommodation for up to 12 guests. The rooms are large and have either fans or air conditioning, essential for us as the weather was very hot. The kitchen is also comprehensively equipped for everyone. In the garden the large logia / dining area encourages relaxed leisurely meals and the grounds are a delight with extensive views over the olive groves to the mountains. The infinity pool is perfect for relaxing in hot weather. The owners go to great lengths to help with advice and are easily contacted by phone or email. All these aspects lead to a really great holiday in Umbria
