Description
Casa Redonda is situated on the Quinta da Saudade. The Quinta da Saudade is a small British-run estate of privately-owned villas. It occupies approximately twenty-four acres about five miles west of Albufeira.The Quinta nestles in the peaceful country setting of an old hillside farm estate. It is surrounded by orange, almond and olive trees and is about forty-five minutes drive from the Airport at Faro.
The nearest beach is less than two miles away. It is a magnificent long stretch of sand, bounded by dunes, where you can escape the crowds, even in August.
There are two swimming pools, a children’s play area and shallow pool. The Quinta also has a tennis court, table tennis, petanque and crazy golf in the orchard. On site is a restaurant and bar in the old farmhouse. And there is a pool bar open throughout the day.
The Riding Stables at the Quinta da Saudade have some fabulous horses that are available for gallops across the dunes or slow hacks through the countryside.
There are attractive country walks in the vicinity and there is a wetlands nature reserve nearby with a wealth of bird and plant life not commonly found in the UK. Purple Heron, Little Bittern, Alpine Swift, Bee Eater, Red Necked Night Jar, Azure Winged Magpie and more.
Casa Redonda at the Quinta da Saudade is situated slightly away from the main group of villas so offers our guests complete privacy.
The villa is air-conditioned throughout and this is included in the rent except from November through till March when it is charged as is the electricity and logs. It has wireless internet.
It has an entrance hall/dining-room, a good-size sitting room, a twin bedroom and a newly renovated en-suite bathroom with walk in shower, WC, sink with storage, electric towel rail and wall heater. The bathrooms looks out onto the newly planted olive trees.
The kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, double sink, microwave oven, electric oven with eye level grill, and a hob with both electric and gas rings. It is very well equipped.
The sitting-room has a television receiving English, Portuguese and other satellite channels, a DVD player and a digital radio.
For Winter occupation, there is a good stove/open fire in the sitting-room and electric heaters throughout.
There is a forty metre long garden with terrace and built-in barbecue. Outside are tables and chairs for eating out as well as sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a beautiful orchard at the end of the garden full of orange and lemon trees. Also on the top level of the garden are some delicious fig trees. Please help yourselves to the fruit when it is in season.
Bedding and towels are provided but not towels for the beach or pools.
The villa is for two people. An extra bed or cot can be put in for a child or baby at an extra cost.
The villa rental is inclusive of maid service and utilities. If you are staying in the villa between November and mid-April, you will be charged for electricity and logs. This is when we charge a basic rent for the villa.

Redonda is beautiful, both inside and out - the gardens are really well designed for the slim but very generous plot and there were plenty of lovely spots to sit and relax. We loved the tiled round table and large parasol and we enjoyed shaded breakfasts and many delicious, barbecued dinners on the terrace. I especially enjoyed the horses passing by each morning and evening Inside, it felt like a well loved, charming home from home. We enjoyed the book shelves and the welcome shade in the lounge from the heat outside. The AC was an absolute bonus especially at night in the August heat. The master bedroom was large, with a comfortable bed, it is a lovely space and the bathroom modern and spacious. The maid service was a lovely bonus, it was like having magic fairies popping in, our kind ladies even swept out the BBQ and changed the bed sheets halfway through our stay - what a luxury! The Quinta is such a special place, we’ve spent our last 3 summer holidays here breaking a family rule to not holiday twice in the same place! We have been trying out different properties at the Quinta as my son is older and needed his own bedroom, both were very special in their own way. In a couple of years though that won’t be necessary and I’m sure we’ll be back to Redonda! We’ve especially loved the horse riding, and both pools are fantastic. We love the colourful history of the Quinta, it is so fascinating to read about and we feel so grateful that this lovely estate has retained its magical, peaceful spirit so many years on. It feels like while the world is busy spinning, this is a place that will sit quietly and wait for you to return to enjoy, rest, recupe and be at peace.

We had the loviest time here with the peace and quiet of the Portuguese countryside. Yet the sea and coastal towns nearby. Our daughter enjoyed the horseback riding while we were enjoying the charming house, the orange trees on the Quinta and having a swim at the pool. The house caught our hearts with the charming details and the comfort of the garden with its flowers. We took back home these wonderful memories and for sure we will return. Vivianne and Peter.
Superb holiday

The villa was spotlessly clean, had everything that we would need and best of all, really comfortable beds! A very comfortable and relaxing villa indeed. The Quinta is lovely, with two excellent swimming pools, and the top one is just an oasis, peaceful and ideal to relax and enjoy a good book...and a cool swim. We had a superb holiday.

Magical
By Wal on 11-Jul-2025My wife and I first met Melanie - perhaps 20 years, or so, ago, online, - regrettably not in person, - when we saw an article online describing " The Only One-Bedroom Villa on the Algarve". It sounded exactly what we were looking for. We booked it and that's how we found the piece of magic called The Quinta da Saudade it sits just outside the town of Galè and literally 3 minutes in the car from a fabulous beach stretching miles into the distance. The Quinta itself boasts two swimming pools a family pool and a "quiet" pool - this is a real bonus - to be able to swim & chill out by the pool while youngsters & families can enjoy themselves to their hearts content at the family pool is heavenly. The Quinta also boasts an excellent bar & restaurant, a pool bar and tennis courts. Not forgetting The Stables and for those horse riders amongst us - a chance to hop into the saddle & ride the range!! And then there is "The Jewel in the Crown" Casa Redonda. It is - without doubt - one of the best equipped self-catering villas we've ever stayed in add to that the improvement Melanie has made inside & outside the Villa and you truly have everything you need for a superb Portuguese holiday. To be honest, the best part of Casa Redonda is the garden, bougainvillea & frangipani in abundance it must be 40 meters long and an absolutely perfect location to sit out in your choice of sun or shade, a glass of wine or a G&T, a good book and just RELAX! Fire up The Barbie later, slap on an Argentinian rib-eye steak from Apolonia supermarket, or some freshly caught fish from the fish market in Amaceo de Pera and you'd be forgiven for thinking you're in the perfect holiday spot. Absolutely Fantastic
