Description
Manna is a much loved, delightful 19th Century 4 Bedroom Farmhouse which sleeps 8 and has been lovingly restored by it's Greek/Irish sculptor owner, to retain many of its original features. Set among 5 acres of Mediterranean pine trees and olive groves, this pale cream house with green shutters is one of Syros’ hidden treasures. Only a 15 minute drive to Ermopouli or the nearest sandy beach, with its treasure trove of antique furniture, original tiled floors, thick stone walls and hidden courtyards, this is the perfect retreat.The private and secluded gardens extend over 5 acres with pine, olive and lemon trees. The extensive courtyard with oleander bushes and bamboo ceiling has a huge marble dining table for al-fresco dining with views across the gardens. There is a further, beautifully tiled patio to the side of the house which offers shade during the heat of the summer, There are other seating areas hidden among the gardens where you can snooze with a book. The plunge pool is hidden among the Mediterranean pines which provide shade in the summer. Being waist high, the pool is perfect for a dip in the afternoon having spent the day at the beach or exploring the area. Net, our English speaking gardener, who will meet you at the ferry or airport, is always on hand to recommend places to visit or to just have a chat. He is a mine of local information and is on hand should you need anything during your holiday.
What the press are saying about Syros - Although there are no direct flights you can easily fly to Mykonos and hop on the ferry to the island either in the morning or afternoon. Alternatively there are ferries or a daily flight from Athens.

By Julia Wertheimer on 30-Jul-2023We stayed 1 week at this wonderful house with our kids and friends. The house is big enough for 2 families with 4 kids (8 persons in total). The house is truly a treasure. It’s interior is unique, beautiful and personal; and staying here felt very much like staying in someone’s home with its furniture, decorations, books and personal touches. The terraces are wonderful, relaxing and inviting to spend time in. Personally, I could easily have spent days laying on the couches, reading and enjoying books from the fantastic library the house has. Bedlinen and towels were gorgeous, likewise the tableware. The swimming pool that the house has is a luxury in this climate. Our kids adored it as it was easy for them to enjoy and play in. Having the pool is a great advantage, especially during the middle of the day when it’s too hot to be at the beach. As for the location, it provides for an interesting view of the surrounding landscape, in addition to being conveniently close to the city and the beaches in the island. It’s private, yet at the same time sufficiently close to the buzz of the city and life on the island. Net, the caretaker, was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We arrived late at the island, and Net helped us with transportation and to acquire the groceries we needed for breakfast. Manuals, guides and house-rules were carefully written and explained. Our vacation at Syros and this house was pleasant and unforgettable, and we recommend the house to others for a unique experience on Syros at an authentic mansion.
We loved this place!
By Hannah Klepeis on 12-Sep-2025We loved this place! It was absolutely perfect for our group of 7 people (all adults, 2 couples). The bedrooms and house were well decorated, the kitchen well equipped and the surroundings incredibly peaceful. Having separate bathrooms for each room (all except one are ensuite) was a huge plus. We rented a car for some of our stay and, admittedly, it made shopping and going to the beach a lot easier. However, if one knows where to go, using taxis would also be a possibility. Walking to the supermarket and into town is possible, although I wouldn't recommend it. Our absolute highlight was the plunge pool. And Vullnet, who is a brilliant caretaker and incredibly helpful.

We loved the Farmhouse

Beautiful Rustic House - exceeded our expectations!
By Doris Walsh on 19-Jul-2024Beautiful rustic farmhouse in extensive grounds. Exceeded our expectations. Plenty of room for 2 families - 4 adults and 4 children. Beautiful sitting areas for dining or relaxing. Easy access to the beaches and the town of Ermoupoli - which is very picturesque. Kitchen fully equipped and very well stocked, which was a lovely discovery and made eating in very easy! Net the caretaker/gardener was very responsive and helpful. Property is fully air-conditioned which was a bonus as we came during a hot week! We would definitely recommend this property and we would come and stay again. Thank you Tamar for hosting us.
A True Greek Island House

Large land around the house with a little plunge pool to relax. There is a service person coming and checking that everything is working well. Wonderful experience!
