The house is set in 3.8 acres of olive and carob trees, with no other lets nearby, within easy reach of many sandy beaches and 30 mins. from Faro Airport. Set in rolling hills with panoramic views from the pool and terrace, which is, however completely private, quiet and peaceful.
Casa Tranquila is five minutes' drive from Santa Catarina or 30 mins walk (unlit). There's a small daily market, minimarkets, a chemist, a papershop, a cashmachine, bars & cafes and a petrol station. There is a typical large market held here every third Sunday in the month.
Set between Tavira and Sao Bras the house is a good base for exploring, bird watching, walking and cycling. There's a wide choice of sandy beaches and the nearest waterpark is 30 mins. away. Many beaches are on "ilhas", sand banks reached by ferries. One by a pontoon bridge and a little train! Others are accessible on foot and some have boardwalks. There are also several golf courses. The towns of Tavira, Faro, Estoi and Moncarapacho are interesting to explore, while there are many lovely coastal villages as well. The Rio Formoso National Park is a must for nature lovers.
All the accommodation is on the ground floor, other than the bedroom. There is underfloor heating/ air conditioning according to the season.There is plenty of parking/ turning space near the house. The house has one double bedroom and is not suitable for babies or toddlers.
The double height lounge is spacious with a comfortable sofa and chair. There is a smart tv with Netflix etc & an extensive range of tv channels and radio stations too. There is free unlimited wifi, playing cards and books. There's plenty of info. in here about the surrounding area and things to do. The lounge opens from french doors into the garden room.
The kitchen has granite work tops and painted oak doors and is well-equipped. There is an electric cooker, gas hob, fridge freezer, disherwasher, microwave, kettle ect.The washing machine in the garage.
The house sleeps two in one spacious, galleried bedroom with a large double bed with views down the valley. The roomy bathroom, which has a large bath with shower over, basin, toilet and bidet, is downstairs.
Bedlinen and towels are included and changed weekly. The villa is cleaned weekly and a welcome pack is provided.
Outside there's an approximately 8 x 4 metre mosaic pool which can be heated if wanted, with a shower. It has underwater led lighting for night swimming. It is surrounded by a terrace and flowerbeds with a full size boules court to one side. Part of the terrace is shaded with a table & chairs. There are sunloungers with cushions by the pool which has with extensive long distance views. On the far side of the pool is a raised circular area with a hanging seat and loungers under the shade of a large carob tree. There is a further terrace and garden to the back with a barbecue and a table & chairs for alfresco eating.
The hot water is solar, the pool heating is by air sourced heat pump & there are p.v. panels too.
The large roof terrace is reached by stairs from the back garden and is good for birding and watching the sunset or sunrise. It has 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. It is shaded, with comfortable chairs, a day bed and a coffee table.We have hoopoes, golden oriels, azure- winged magpies, beeeaters, woodchat shrike, the Dartford warbler, various owls, woodpeckers, eagles, swallows, swifts, partridges and so on.
There's a large parking area near the house with plenty of turning space.
All the outside space is for your sole use.The discreet owners, who live nextdoor, are on hand for help or advice, if wanted. They have four cats, who are present but not intrusive.
Due to the secluded location of the villa, one km. up a farm track, car hire is essential, directions, a map and the owners contact details will be sent after full payment of the rent.
