Villa in Monte Agudo, Nr. Santo Estevao, Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful rural location only 1km from the village of Santo Estevao and a short drive to TaviraThis delightful villa is set in a peaceful fold in the gently rolling hills of the eastern Algarve. Set in around an acre of landscaped grounds with a formal garden , the property melts into the beautiful surrounding countryside dotted with its carob, olive, almond and fig trees and nearby citrus groves. Whilst externally the architecture is classically traditional, Casa do Ferreiro is a modern and very well appointed villa completed in 2010. The 10m x 5m salt water pool was built in 2011 and surrounding patios and final landscaping added in 2012. The 4 bedrooms are all ensuite, fitted with air conditioning included in the rental prices. The spacious living areas include a generous lounge, adjacent reading area and formal dining area with high airy vaulted ceiling and circular glass table. The traditional Algarvean fishing port of Tavira with its splendid river frontage with fish restaurants, fabulous beaches and excellent fish market are 6 miles distant.

Notes on accommodation:
The villa is fully licensed for rental with the Portuguese authorities [License number 3078/AL] and compliant with health and safety requirements. Air conditioning is included in the rental prices, please read our guidance notes for efficient use upon arrival. All windows and doors have integral fly screens and shutters or decorative security ironwork. All bathrooms have mechanical ventilators set with overrun timers linked to the room lights. Hot water is provided by solar panels. The bedroom roof terraces and ground floor bedroom have two cushioned armchairs and table. In addition the master bedroom terrace has 2 sun loungers. High Speed (new for 2025) Internet and wifi available. Essentials starter pack provided [can be supplemented at additional cost]. The villa is idyllic for a relaxing, stress-free holiday. Strictly non-smoking. No pets. Car essential.
Outside: Large landscaped garden with 10m x 5m swimming pool to the front elevation of the house facing South and West giving all day sunshine, surrounding patio with loungers and parasols. A new feature pergola and landscaping opposite the pool was added for the 2024 season. The pool is hygienic and non-toxic salt water with walk in steps to shallow end, depth range 1.2m to 1.6m. The pool is cleaned weekly and garden and landscaping tended 2-weekly. Steps lead up from the pool patio to a large shaded pergola and further sun terrace. Accessed directly from both the kitchen and pool area is a spacious alfresco dining area with huge stone table and benches comfortably seating 10 with traditional built BBQ with large grille to suit occupancy, a sink and shelving at the cooking area. Attractive unbreakable outdoor tumblers, glasses and crockery are provided for your safety.
If you visit in late August/September it is a tradition that our neighbours pick the carob pods from the trees around the perimeter for a cash crop, please accommodate their access.
Utility Room: Utility area annexed to the kitchen with washing machine, separate dryer, granite work top, tidy dry, iron and ironing board.
Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and changed weekly along with cleaning for stays of 10 nights or more. Pool/beach towels are provided. Extra cleaning is available by arrangement and charged locally.
Other: Spacious circulation/entertaining area leads from lounge to dining room with lovely airy, vaulted ceiling and circular glass table seating 10+. A picture window and patio door overlooks the garden and pool area with further patio doors and balcony.

Attention to detail was first class; from each bathroom having handwashing/loo rolls, washing up liquid…essentially all your basic requirements met and this in conjunction with the welcome pack meant you could enjoy all the villa facilities on your arrival date without having to rush to the supermarket! The villa is well equipped, modern, spacious and with many seating areas to enjoy the peace, quiet, lovely gardens and the great sized swimming pool. It is well positioned with lovely restaurants locally and Tavira is relatively close too with all that has to offer. Thank you to Margaret and Stephen for allowing us to experience such a beautiful place.
Casa do Ferreiro, near Tavira

Casa do Ferreiro is outstanding: immaculately clean, spacious, comfortable, and filled with light. Its location is ideal: close enough to shops for convenience, yet set in a peaceful rural setting that feels wonderfully private. The extensive, carefully tended gardens and pool area are a delight for both adults and children. The pool is crystal clear, with plenty of comfortable loungers and seats for enjoying the sun, as well as shaded areas and parasols. There are also a variety of inviting spaces for dining, socialising, or simply relaxing with a book. Seven of us (four adults and three children) had a truly wonderful holiday. The villa is extremely well equipped, with everything in perfect working order, spotless, and clearly well maintained. It feels genuinely loved by its owners. Thank you, Margaret and Stephen. We feel fortunate to have discovered your lovely villa and are all keen to return.
Such an idilic place

Everything was beyond my expectations, starting from a warm welcome from Margaret and Stephen, a truly heavenly spot to relax in the summer. The pool, surroundings, comfy bedrooms, common areas, equipment. Really loved it, and I am sure to come back!
A Wonderful, Relaxing Place to Stay
By Debbie on 12-Jul-2025Four of us (myself, my husband, my 13 year old son and my 75 year old mother) stayed for a week at Casa do Ferrerio in mid July. The drive to the villa is an easy one even for someone who isn't used to driving abroad. Margaret and Stephen had sent clear instructions for how to get there but I linked my phone up to the car system and dropped a pin to get us to the villa. Upon arrival, we were met by Rachel who gave us a quick tour and told us a little about the area for shops etc. We had also been left enough food and drinks to have a quick bite before heading out to the supermarket. The villa was absolutely immaculate! Everything felt so clean and there were more than enough bathroom towels and pool towels left for us. The kitchen was extremely well stocked (including dishwasher tablets) and we wanted for nothing during our stay (we cooked in the villa daily). There was also everything that we needed to cook on the BBQ. The bedrooms and living area had great air conditioning which shut off automatically when you opened external doors (a great idea, especially when you have kids who don't quite get the concept of how air conditioning works). I absolutely loved the screens on all of the windows and doors meaning you could open them without the risk of insects getting in. Although we didn't need them, the bedrooms all had locks with keys (removable) to offer that privacy if you were travelling with friends. There were instructions left for how to work the TV etc. and the WiFi connection was brilliant. We spent a lot of time in the various outdoor seating areas - of which there are so many that you could still have lots of alone time even when you are outside. The pool was just a dream. It was a great size for adults to be able to swim lengths and for messing around in. It was fantastic to be able to use all of the pool to swim in due to the good depth throughout. It was extremely hot whilst we were visiting and I was wary of getting burnt whilst playing in the pool but due to the amount of parasols, we could keep half of the pool in the shade when we wanted. We absolutely loved our stay in 'the mansion' as my son has affectionately called it. Margaret and Stephen were really helpful from the moment I got in touch until after the holiday when we realised my mum had left a full drawer of belongings there and they offered to get them in the post to us when the returned to England. I would recommend anyone stay for a visit no matter how big or small the group is.

I loved that Margaret and Stephen had thought of everything needed for an amazing stay. The place is very well maintained and its is within easy access to ships and Tavira. We will definitely be back
