Set in a quiet river valley close to the border between Tuscany and Umbria, Santa Chiara offers a choice of three chic and well appointed self catering apartments. At the top of the farmhouse but retaining access at street level, this open plan high ceilinged apartment feels like a city loft. Offering two large bedrooms, cosy lounge and a fabulous panoramic terrace with far reaching views over the olive grove to Monte Tezio on the horizon.
The apartment is entered directly from the terrace into the separate dining room which has an extendible dining table and four chairs. A traditional archway then leads you through into the lounge, giving a spacious open plan feel. The lounge has two large comfortable sofas, a beautiful wood burning stove, exposed stone walls and terracotta floors. Leading from the lounge is a separate and fully equipped kitchen with granite worktop, fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, grill and hob.
There are two large dual aspect double bedrooms, one a king size bed the other with twin beds (third single bed can be added at additional cost) and a full size cot bed. Both rooms have high ceilings with chestnut beams and solid wood floors. The large family bathroom comes complete with a lovely free standing slipper bath, separate shower cubicle and fabulous old marble sink.
All the windows are fitted with Juliet bars for safety and external chestnut shutters allow guests to regulate the heat and light flow into the apartment. Both bedrooms also have blackout blinds and ceiling fans for cooling.
The ten by five metre swimming pool is situated on a sunny terrace close to the house. The fully fenced and gated area offers quiet and seclusion to relax and unwind. The swimming pool allows easy access to the shallow end via Roman steps. The pool ranges in depth from 1.2m to 2.4m and provides a shallow ledge all the way around its perimeter to help even the least confident of swimmers. The pool is open between May and September. During the early and late season, the swimming pool is covered at night with a summer thermal cover to help keep the overnight temperature loss to a minimum.
At the end of the pool area, there is shaded seating with pergola and wicker seating set, next to this is the children's wendy house and paddling pool as well as table football covered by another pergola.
Home Cooked Meals
We offer an in house menu with a wide range of freshly prepared home cooked dishes ranging from Italian family favourites, such as Lasagne and Cannelloni, right through to more sophisticated dishes, all ready to pop in your oven and enjoy. For the children we offer a full variety of meals that are freshly made, pre-cooked and can be heated quickly in the microwave.

By Laurence on 30-May-2024Our stay in Santa Chiara was in every way perfect: a spacious apartment in a beautiful house in nature, a large terrace to enjoy the view, a relaxing environment and a swimming pool large enough to be able to swim. The house while being secluded is easy to access and we reach tourist sites like Montone, Perugia and Assisi quite quickly. Paul was extremely responsive and attentive to our well being. We'll be happy to go back!
Ideal location
By Babtiste on 15-Aug-2024The house is beautiful, in a peaceful and splendid setting with a very pleasant pool in the middle of summer and games that our daughters loved! The location is ideal for discovering the towns and villages of Umbria. Paul is a very responsive and friendly host while remaining discreet. We had a great time in Santa Chiara!
Home away from home
By Sneha on 21-Aug-2024Paul & Anita's beautiful Santa Chiara was our home away from home for just over a week at the end of August. The place is as peaceful and well presented as the photos suggest and Paul was an incredibly proactive and helpful host, always responsive and offering fantastic recommendations on what to see and where to eat. This was especially helpful to us as we were travelling with 2 young children, 5 & 3, with our youngest having complex food allergies. We managed to visit some lovely towns for short day trips with experiences for the kids and otherwise took full advantage of the abundant toys, games and play area by the pool - the children had a blast! Thank you so much Paul and Anita - we cannot recommend your lovely home enough. :)
Great stay
By Mikela on 01-Sep-2024Very authentic place to stay. We loved the quiet of the house and it’s surroundings. By car you can visit all the hotspots in 20-30 minutes. Paul was a great host with very good tips and nice communication. House has everything you would need. Definitely when you have small kids, there are toys (books, duplo, puzzles) indoors and a playhouse, shop and kitchen by the pool. Great stay!!
Great place to stay

Great family friendly place
By Paulina on 09-Sep-2023Santa Chiara is a beautiful place with astonishing views and atmosphere. We were travelling with small kid and still were able to find a lot of relax in Santa Chiara space. There are many things to do with a small baby (20 months old) - three different playgrounds and a lot of toys in the apartament. Paul is very friendly and helpfull. We spent in Santa Chiara great time. Many thanks!
